appearance

A heavy stillness always seems to precede Raum’s arrival, a low hum of tension that prickles beneath the skin and puts nerves on edge well before he ever comes into view. Some might blame his size—broad across the withers, long through the limb—but it is the way he carries himself that unsettles most. For there is a certain grace to his movements, partnered with something undeniably predatory, as though all who pass beneath his gaze must weather the full force of his scrutiny.

His coat, deep charcoal threaded through with silvery streaks, has a way of swallowing the light, drawing the eye into darkness where there is only shadow and pelt. But it’s his eyes that hold the heart of it all: molten gold, ancient in their steadiness, and far too intent to be mistaken for anything gentle.

personality

Patience long ago settled into the bones of Raum—woven into the slow turns of his gaze, the careful press of silence that seems to gather between words and never quite let go. There is no rush to him, no need for outbursts or wasted breath; he has learned that the world will bend in time, if only he waits long enough.

Affection, when it comes, is a calculated thing—a quiet shoulder offered only so he might feel the tremor in another’s chest, a warmth given and withdrawn as easily as breath. He keeps his own close, but not out of love, not really. What belongs to him is guarded with a possessiveness that has nothing to do with kindness and everything to do with power—his, always. For Raum does not threaten; he expects. And if there is cruelty in him, it is the kind that settles in slowly, almost tender, until even the memory of freedom is something distant and half-imagined.

history

Before Raum came to Vivarium, he was something else—a shadow stitched into flesh, ancient and hungry, the kind of monster whispered about when the night grew long. He walked as a vampire then, and the taste of power had long since become a part of him. When the world shifted beneath his feet and left him in the skin of a wolf, he did what came naturally: built a new kingdom from the bones of the old, gathering wayward souls and fractured things beneath his careful hand. For a time, it almost worked. He had his followers, his daughters—lost children drawn into his orbit, a semblance of family built on secrets and blood.

But nothing good was meant to last. One by one his closest allies fell, their absences carving anew into wounds long healed. The children he’d claimed as his own vanished into shadow, and the power he’d gathered turned brittle, then broke. Raum disappeared in turn, swallowed by grief and the ruins of what he’d made. It is only now, at the height of a blood moon, that he returns—crawling from the grave the world had written for him, a memory in the flesh, and with a hunger that will not die.
