Wreathed in fire with eyes like the golden sun, Alder cuts a striking figure at first glance. He is quite tall for a wolf, large-boned and barrel-chested, his musculature clearly built more for fighting and taking hits than high-speed chases.
As the odd one out of his litter, he's used to feeling insecure about his crimson pelt, especially when standing next to his siblings - his expression is still often one of self-conscious concern, as if he is embarrassed to be seen at all.
Following a fight in the spring of 2025, Alder now sports a few scattered scars across his muzzle and lower right forelimb.
PERSONALITY & HISTORY
Cautious and kind-hearted, Alder spent his puphood desperate to earn the approval of both his parents and his peers. The quiet disapproval and tanible judgment cast upon his crimson pelt left him feeling inherently flawed, as though he could never measure up no matter how hard he tried. One of the few who willing to offer him kindness was his grandmother, Viscaria - the blunt and reclusive mother to Amaranth.
But Viscaria held a terrible secret of her own.
As a yearling, Alder unfortunately discovered the reasoning behind his mother Amaranth's distaste for his appearance and Viscaria's own lingering fear of it. He had inherited a close variant of his cruel grandfather's trademark fur, and without realizing it, had already and unknowingly befriended that very same wolf at the outskirts of their home.
Not only was he Alder's grandfather, but the blood-brother of Viscaria as well - the latter of whom he had long harbored a sick, twisted obsession toward, which revealed the horrifying truth of Amaranth's parentage at last.
Alder's discovery of Cypress's manipulation reached its breaking point when he found the wolf standing over a battered and bloodied Viscaria. Faced with an impossible choice between killing the bastard or saving his grandmother's life, Alder chose the latter, carrying her back to Fate's Respite for healing.
Yet before he left, he swore vengeance upon Cypress - a vengeance that would eventually lead him west to train in Northfall.
Over time, the curiosity and kindness he exhibited as a pup had slowly given way to fury and single-minded focus; only traces of that child remained. Beneath their firm instruction and warrior's lifestyle, he worked diligently to gain the skills from Northfall's viking wolves to slay his own grandfather.
When Cypress was victorious at last, and Alder discovered Viscaria's lifeless body beside the Howling River, rage and grief threatened to swallow him entirely. Only Sølvi's gentleness and guiding light kept him from spiraling into the very monster he despised, a spritely healer he had chanced to meet from the ranks of Dawnbreak.
In the end, Alder encountered Cypress one final time - and slew him in a bitter fight.
Even then, the wounds Cypress left behind did not heal easily. For a long time, Alder struggled beneath the weight of his sorrow, his fury, and the fear that he would remain forever chained to the violence of his bloodline - but through it all, Solvi remained at his side, unwavering in her patience and compassion. She alone helped him rediscover the hope inside of himself he had long thought dead.
With Solvi, Alder found peace and the acceptance he had never believed possible. Her presence, something that had begun as only a pale light in the darkness of his heart, slowly became a new purpose for living. In time, the two eventually overcame their shyness and affirmed their love for one another, becoming mates and building a family together - with Solvi giving birth to seven children, living proof that Alder's life would no longer be defined by the cruelty he had inherited, but by the love he was now free to give.
