appearance

Yuè is made of wind, wrapped in silk. She exists as one might imagine a swan would – slow, intentional movements. Everything done with grace. She is a testament to a long line of royalty, and it shows in her impeccable breeding and comprehensive education. There is nothing she cannot do, from hunting game to oratory and diplomacy. She has spent her childhood practicing dance, song, and the spiritual arts. This competency shines through her, gilding her with the confident and composed exterior that she is largely known for.

Her pelt is luminous, looking as if it were spun by fine threads of gold. The argent of her coat, at some angles, is differentiated with splashes of silver. The fur of her face, neck, legs, and belly are a creamy colored fur, the texture of down feathers. This down can also be found in the curve of her ears, and at the backs of her elbows and knees. Her eyes are a beautiful lilac, though so pale that at times they are mistaken for grey, or even white. If is difficult to read her expressions – she makes a point to conceal her thoughts behind a visage of placidity.

personality

Yue is a brilliant diamond, faceted in many ways. She commands respect without demand, attracting others to her like a bee to a rose. The Empress is a woman of few words, but she still exudes deep enthusiasm. Yue radiates vitality, balancing delicacy and endurance easily. Yue lives a very ‘clean’ ascetic lifestyle. She understands rules and customs and practices them with reverence. She spends a lot of time alone, practicing her political arts. Yue is keen: she observes and listens and notices.

An intelligent woman, Yue often needs to find outlets for her energy. A quiet and observant creature, she may sometimes surprise her cohorts with laughter, singing, or tears. This is reserved for her close council to see. The Empress has the utmost respect for women and family units, and dedicates her work and lawmaking to protecting the less fortunate. When not alone or in diplomatic meetings, she can be found volunteering.

For the Dynasty, she oversees the imperial household, harem, attendants, and courtiers within the pack. She is Shen's unseen hand in statecraft and advises him about mateships, alliances, inheritances, interpolitics, and spirituality. She has a lot of power in choosing who gets to have the emperors favor with noble families, run the harem and any royal children's educations, and nurturing political marriages and alliances, etc

origin story

Yué’s history is shrouded in mystery; it is something that is rarely discussed by Yué herself, or the court. It is known that she was raised as a princess to the Ming family and was betrothed to Shenlei at a young age. One can assume that she has a relatively secure childhood, where most things had been written into her book of life before she was born. Much of her time was spent studying, and very little was spent on normal childhood pursuits, such as playing and making friends.

Enter: the orchid and the precipice. In this legend, an adolescent Yue is on a walk amongst a path in the royal forest when she was attacked by a boar. Her retinue unable to quell the attack, she was chased to the edge of an incredible peak. Just when Yue believed her only option was to jump, an unknown figure leapt from the forest and slayed the boar. Little did she know, but that figure was Emperor Shenlei, to whom she had been betrothed since birth. This story believes a common belief that the Emperor and Empress are soulmates, destined to lead the Tianlong Dynasty to great heights – the truth, unfortunately, is vastly different than legend.

One of the few things that Yue openly discusses is an experience she had while traveling amongst kingdoms. She found herself in an impoverished land, and came across many families on the brink of starvation. One particular mother stood out to her, who was begging for the lives of her cubs. It was such an egregious offense to Yue’s senses, that any woman or child deign to scrape out such an existence, and it rerouted Yue’s existence from one that was motivated by selfish concerns to one of ultimate munificence. Everything she achieves is inspired by the beggar woman.
