The Gods must have smiled with peculiar humor when they saw fit to place a daughter before Tianlong's long-awaited heir—or perhaps Heaven, in its infinite wisdom, knew precisely what it was doing. As the Emperor and Empress' firstborn, Shuyan bears a quiet weight upon shoulders scarcely old enough to carry it, destined to stand as the eldest branch of the Imperial family and an example to all who follow. Though she favors her mother's grace and silver beauty, it is hoped she will one day embody both the steadfast majesty of the Celestial Dragon and the gentle virtue of the Sacred Crane. Until that day, may Heaven watch over Shuyan, the Sleeping Dragon, whose silence is not weakness, but the promise of power yet to awaken.
tall and slender, fashioned as the very mirror of her mother yue in lilacs and delicate whites. she is perpetually well-groomed and perfumed in flower blossoms, and walks with a dancer's step. there is no doubt that shuyan is beautiful, but to reduce her to this would be foolish- there is something as predatory as it is graceful in the way she moves, and a cold confidence in her wintersky eyes.

◈ typical air of bored disinterest; dutiful enough, but it is not difficult to get the sense that her heart is not really in it. nonetheless, she goes through the motions for lack of anything better to do. very notable anhedonia from an early age.
◈ takes hierarchy and responsibilities seriously; resents much of them nonetheless, but doesn't care enough to be a rebel.
◈ nihilistic, doubtful. will grow up to completely disbelieve tianlong's religion, but sees purpose in the inspiration it provides to its people and believes strongly in the hierarchy & structure it provides. doesn't understand how nobody else realizes it's all fake.
◈ struggles with performing correctly, and does not pick up the skills expected of women naturally or very well; always an awkwardness to it. can be jealous of those who do, doesn't really understand it's jealousy. struggles notably with dance until she can apply it to other things.
◈ grows to harbor a disdain for 'traditional' women, motherhood, and sexuality. aroace and thinks she's better than everyone about it; also thinks she's just 'special' and better than other women in general.
◈ can be surprisingly aggressive when provoked; like a crocodile, only docile until it's not, but extremely difficult to read even when she is. self-confident; doesn't take shit from people.
