I. PAST LIFE
Kaeleth had been deeply devoted to the Star Mother across many lifetimes. He spent years praying, studying the stars, and trying to understand every sign he believed she placed before him. Others believed he had the potential to become someone important within the faith, and for a long time, Kaeleth believed the same. He thought true devotion meant dedicating his entire life to her.
However, as the years passed, Kaeleth found himself choosing family, friendship, and mortal love instead. His prayers became shorter when someone needed him. He missed ceremonies to comfort the grieving, watch over pups, or remain beside those he loved. He never stopped believing in the Star Mother, but ordinary life slowly became enough for him.
Kaeleth felt deeply guilty for this. He convinced himself that his family had pulled him away from his faith and that choosing them meant turning his back on her. He believed he had abandoned whatever greater purpose she had once intended for him. In reality, he had simply confused duty with devotion...
Every time Kaeleth chose compassion over ceremony, he believed he had failed her. He died expecting judgment and punishment, convinced he had wasted lifetime after lifetime turning away from the path he should have followed.
II. REINCARNATION
In the quiet place between lives, the Star Mother came to him. Kaeleth expected anger, disappointment, or even punishment, but she offered none of those things. Before he could even apologize, she met him with warmth, wiped away his tears, and clothed his broken spirit in starlight. She showed him that she had never seen someone who abandoned her, instead, she had seen someone who spent every lifetime loving her creations with his whole heart. Every pup he protected, every friend he comforted, and every loved one he refused to abandon had been another form of devotion. Kaeleth believed choosing others meant walking away from the Star Mother, but those were the moments he had reflected her most.
There was nothing he could have done to increase or decrease her love for him. She did not ask him to prove himself or promise that he would become someone greater in his next life, she simply forgave what he had never been able to forgive within himself and allowed him to live again.
When Kaeleth woke in Mythris, he was more surprised than excited. He could not believe she had truly meant her words or that she believed he deserved another chance. To him, his new life became a gift, making him incredibly appreciative of small and ordinary things.
However, it also created a new fear. Kaeleth began feeling like he had to prove the Star Mother had not made a mistake by forgiving him.
III. VELARIS
Kaeleth eventually found his way back to Velaris, but his understanding of the Star Mother was different. While others admire the warrior who defeated tyrants, Kaeleth admires the woman who stayed behind to care for the wounded, protect lost children, and comfort the broken. To him, her greatest miracle was not creating the stars, but offering love to someone who believed he was beyond forgiveness.
He does not want an important rank or spiritual authority. Kaeleth instead finds purpose in the ordinary life of the pack, helping others, caring for the young, and becoming part of the constellation that is Velaris. Doing exactly what Star Mother would.
IV. CURRENT DAY
Kaeleth now honors the Star Mother through compassion rather than constant prayer, he offers comfort to the grieving, patience to those burdened by guilt, and companionship to those who feel alone. He forms bonds slowly, but loves deeply once someone becomes important to him. gender matters very little compared to trust, kindness, and emotional connection. Family, whether born or chosen, remains at the center of his life.
His greatest challenge is learning to accept the same care he gives so freely to others being offered to him. Kaeleth has spent many lifetimes trying to become worthy of love, and this life may finally teach him that he never needed to earn it.
