The insidious, unholy offspring of demons and deities, holding strong generations after their origin for simple survival. The Saxe line is now sprawling and chaotic, and Vasili and Nephthys are no exception in their blood-lusting family wreath. They have evolved through blood and lava into dragons, and they have no qualms scorching the way forward for them and their kin.

Finding a new home on the tropical island Volcanic Keys with the volcano they watched erupt and ravage Mythris together the year before and dressing themselves in the fancy words of royal egyptian stories from childhood are the first steps to a brand new life. Pharaoh -
Leaders of Saxe blood. The burning sun, the dragon guarding their mountain of liquid fire, painted with the crown of blood as they sit the throne of bones. The mightiest of their generation, chosen by the one that came before; sometimes just one, sometimes a betrothed pair for line purity. They are the law, they do whatever they like, and they dare you to say something against that. They are the final decision makers, although some monarchs may refer more to their councils than others.

In the event a Saxe Pharaoh marries outside the bloodline. Still higher in status than everyone else, as the Pharaoh’s chosen, but won’t ever have the loudest voice. Will have to work past their every decision being doubted until they prove themselves; personally and/or professionally distrusted, potentially ignored, and constantly fighting for respect.

Flame -
Crown Prince(ess)/the officially named heir of the Dominion. A dragon hatchling, next in line for the crown of blood. The inferno of the next generation, the fire that keeps the empire burning strong. Proven themselves the most capable of ruling in the next generation. May be a betrothed pair chosen together, may be a single descendant.

Spark -
Spawn of the Pharaoh’s, or the Pharaoh and their Consort. Expected to grow up strong, smart, and constantly ready to prove they’re good enough to be the next Flame; the next Pharaoh. Will eventually be run through the Flame Ceremony to see if they’re suitable. Often have a keen eye upon them, judging, measuring.

Ember -
Other Saxe family members. They keep the fire burning strong, but they weren’t intense enough themselves to harness the inferno. Considered “royalty”, as long as they share Saxe blood and name with the ruler. Once married into the family, Saxe partners also fall into this rank. Privileged. Can largely do whatever they want, as long as they don’t piss off those above them. Are emphasized only to impress the will of the Saxe bloodline further, as they always have.

Eye of Ra -
Council members. Those respected enough to have the ear of the Pharaoh(s), who have proven themselves the most loyal and beneficial to the Dominion or their leaders. They don’t have the power between them to force a ruler from their throne, but the Eyes of Ra are meant to guide, to prioritize, to strategize. In extreme cases, they may need to be the judges of the Flame Ceremony and choose the next Pharaoh as their leader would have wished. Must be truly trusted to earn such a gold-gilded title.

Sphinx -
Only the most fierce and accomplished warriors -and assassins- of the Dominion earn this rank. Trusted with guarding the royals, areas of importance (ex. a den of royals, children, or injured), and/or borders as a whole. May also be asked to scout, definitely travel with the Pharaoh wherever they go, and could even be asked to spy somewhere.

Ankh -
Storytellers. They weave the tales that rope others into belief, swaying more hearts to their side and teeth to their cause. Fanatics make the best followers, after all, but instead of a god they worship… it’s the Saxe bloodline. Ankh are the keepers of knowledge in the Dominion, historians and scribes remembering all there is of Saxe accomplishments and teaching those stories to the youth, never to be forgotten.

Eye of Horus -
Healers, gardeners, gatherers, midwives. One of the more important ranks; the ones who put the warriors back together again to fight another day, who help safely deliver new life into the Dominion, who gather, grow, and use the herbs needed to help their people, hurt their enemies, and throw some of the best parties around.

Ouroboros -
The grunts, the basic rank you earn by passing the gauntlet. Generally appreciated, treated as well as they contribute, but nothing special. That being said, while the Saxe bloodline is thought of as close to godliness, they also believe in proving oneself. One must be worthy to even enter the ranks, yes, but you have to continue to prove it, and those most dedicated and hard-working are those treated like gold.

Scarab -
The future bulk of the Dominion, the children of its members. Early shaping is critical for the perfect member; those born within the pack are thought of as “better” or even higher in station than those who came later in their lives. All adults are encouraged to interact and teach, so that the youth see firsthand what life expects of them, where bad decisions lead to.

Ashes -
Children born specifically of a Saxe and either an Amulet or Dung Beetle. Looked down on, but also get the unique chance to prove they can be more through a special Trial. They have to work harder, they often have less willing mentors, but they can find their way beneath the warmth of the sun if they fight for it hard enough.

Amulet -
Slaves that behave, or perhaps that are outright willing. Companions meant for little else than amusement, favors, or making mundane chores less boring. Not trusted, per say, but not under constant watch either. Expected to be seen only when summoned, heard only when spoken to, and do whatever it is they’re tasked with. If they don’t pull their weight, they die. Some are tasked with prostitution; trading services for all sorts of favors, resources, political arrangements, or other items of interest -- all of which usually go straight back to their master. Ex. If one was told to carry a litter for someone whose mate perhaps could not bear children, or forsake their own litter to nurse orphan Saxe’s, or go spend a week of nights with a lonely leader for an abundance of food, they would be expected to do so, but trinkets of that worth are usually treated like gems.
Under very rare cases, some exceptional Amulet’s are allowed to walk free and join the ranks as a Scarab, to start the climb up the ranks. In theory, it should be easy to move up into the ranks for such willing, obedient creatures, but those very traits and the desirability of their chores make it more difficult to be promoted.

Dung Beetle -
The punished, the traitors, the disobedient. Angering the Pharaoh(s) may just land you here if you’re unlucky enough to avoid death. Often either penned together or kept under guard at all times, but never allowed near or past the border. Expected to be seen only when summoned, heard only when spoken to, and do whatever it is they’re tasked with. If they don’t pull their weight, they die.
Want to escape? Die, or find strength, prove you deserve more, impress the Pharaoh or your master. Must be promoted to Amulet through dedication and grueling work before they ever hope for anything else.

THE ETERNAL BLUE SKY

Alukhai are a clan of nomads migrating across the rugged steppe, driven to survive in the face of death, to kill before being killed, and to raise their families beneath the eternal blue sky. This is a savage land and it springs to life in all its brutal glory; terrible, tender, and tragic by turns. Their alien customs and ruthless campaigns frequently horrify more contemporary settlements, cementing them in a savage, barbaric stereotype.

NOMADISM

"Perhaps my cousins will live in stone houses and walled towns - Not I."

People of the vast, wind-scoured steppe, traversing across the inland sea under an open sky. Their existence is an eternal stream which moves with the seasons and binds to the hoofbeats of their horses. During summer, the clan live in high valleys chosen to provide lush grazing for the herds while avoiding extreme heat at lower elevations. Come autumn, they move down to sprawling southern grasslands. Alukhai live in gers, temporary dwellings created by pulling horse pelts over granite stones, drift wood and animal bones. This cluster of gers is called the ordo; the nomadic royal court and social rendezvous.

LEADERSHIP & LOYALTY

“If the nobles, knights, and warlords in the service of the children of the khans who are my heirs do not firmly observe the Yasa, then the state’s cause will receive a blow and be interrupted. Once again, they will look for a khan, but they will not find him.”

The khaan holds absolute, semi-divine authority as the supreme ruler of the nomadic tribe. He is treated with extreme reverence, loyalty, and absolute obedience by his people. Defying the khaan or breaking his laws meant facing swift, severe, and often ritualistic punishment. The king and his family are considered clan nobility. Strength, merit, and divine mandate determines leadership. The khaan can be challenged in a duel during the kurultai if a challenger emerges. Alukhai lives by the yasa code: enforcing a mandate that favors mongol unity and penalizes internal betrayal and treason harshly.

THE HORSE HERD

"A mongol without a horse is a bird without wings."

The bond between nomads and horses is deeply symbiotic, historical, and spiritual, thus they have ritualized their care. Horses are seen to have the highest prestige on the steppe and provide the clan with meat, milk, bones, hides and mane/tail fibers. Worn hides from pelts are called deel, and signify good status within alukhai. Spirit banners, or sulde, are sacred standards made from horsehair that represent a mongol’s living soul, vital force, guardian power, and connection to the Eternal Blue Sky. Like their wolf counterparts mongol horses are stocky, resilient, enduring extreme climates and complex, long-distance campaigns. Horses are never slaughtered except for mercy, and are never used to carry goods, neither are they ridden. A nomad with many horses is considered wealthy. It is common for mongols to have favorite horses among the herd. These are seen by the clan as sacred soul bonds.

RELIGION

“There came into the world a blue-gray wolf whose destiny was Heaven's will. His wife was a fallow deer. They traveled together across the inland sea and when they were camped near the source of the Onan River in sight of Mount Burkhan Khaldun, the first mongolian was born.”

Tengri is the supreme deity of the eternal blue sky, who emphasizes the Alukhai’s harmony with nature and the cosmos. He is paired with earth mother. Shaman are the leaders of spiritual ceremonies and are the intermediaries between spirits and the clan. Spiritual life includes ancestor worship and honoring the natural spirits of fire, moon, sun, water, and mountains. While tengrism is the dominant religion, the clan accepts and promotes many cultures and religions.

ORAL TRADITIONS

"My joyful Altai mountains resting like a father's embrace; our bright blue sky protecting us like a mother's love."

The clan relays their history through stories, dance, poetry and plainsong, including throat singing. These traditions recount hard migrations, legendary horses, battle heroes and tales of great love or tragedy.

HACHI

Mongols live by the concept of hachi, a binding social obligation to repay one's debts; such as actively providing food or care to one's mother to match the grace she showed in raising them, or returning hostility to an enemy. It means to be true to those who are true to you. It is common for nomads to strive after their ancestors’ hachi if it was not honored in their lifetime.

PATRILINEAL

Power, inheritance, and tribal leadership is generally passed from father to son. The overarching framework of the empire remains rooted in male dominance and inheritance. However, while generally subordinate, Alukhai women possess a large degree of freedom in managing the camps, holding political roles, and raising pups. Male and female roles are regarded as complementary, each fulfilling a distinct but equally valued purpose.

MARRIAGE

"There are three men for every lady. First man is golden governance. Second man is pure dignity. Third man is the man you marry."

Marriages strengthen the clan ties and are a heavily promoted and celebrated custom on the steppe. Engagements are often arranged by parents when children are young, sometimes confirmed through divination from the otochi or dreams. A groom's family is expected to pay a bride price, or kalyum, to her family to compensate for the loss of their daughter's labor. Men of higher status often have multiple wives, however, his first is the chief wife, and her children have chief inheritance to family wealth. If a husband dies, a widow is often cared for by a male relative of the family to keep their lines intact. Noble marriages often forge ties between tribes, while commoner unions focus on wealth and resources. During the wedding week, the couple will erect their new ger. The bride’s family is responsible for interior furnishings while the groom’s family is responsible for construction and coverings. After which, a formal ceremony with matrimony vowels commences followed by multiple-day celebrations of dancing, feasts, and sacred rituals.

BEAUTY STANDARD

Alukhai prize traits suited for their harsh, nomadic lifestyle, valuing robust health and strong features in men and women. Frailty is a fault, as stamina and the ability to work and move the herds is essential. The physical demands of steppe survival and long campaigns require nomads to be active, muscular and capable of defending themselves. They are a shorter people, stocky and powerful with broad shoulders, large chests, and thick limbs which adapt them to the extreme climates of their territory.

THE IVORY ROAD

"Say ye unto countries that I am the sovereign of the sunrise, and they are the sovereigns of the sunset. Let there be between us a firm treaty of friendship, amity, and peace, and let traders and caravans on both sides come and go."

A trade route established for knowledge sharing, linking civilizations and exchanging various goods like herbs, dyes, precious stones, meat, animal hides, berries, and ivory. The road will seek access and relations through all packs in the wastes. Breeding rights, horses, marriages, hunting territory, shamanic knowledge, and foster children may eventually be expanded on through positive relations.

Alukhai claims the rugged steppe, a place of great austerity but beauty, too. The wide river valley is a vital pastoral region which provides lush, fertile oases across the dry grasslands. Rivers cut through rolling hills and mountain basins, offering fresh, chilled water. Valleys feature thick grasses, year-round flowers, and occasional groves of birch or willow trees. These vales burst into color during the summer with dense blankets of bright and fragrant wildflowers. It is a vast, austere, and humbling land.

A sacred, seven-hundred mile long silver thread falling from the Sartag Mountains and winding down through the green, mountainous steppes. It is aptly named the mogoi, or serpent, river. The riverwater is pristine, and as is custom the alukhai do not utilize it for bathing, washing only in lakes or ice-melt pools. While fish are bountiful in the rivers, the pack does not choose to hunt them, considering their meat to be peasant food, only consumed in times of famine.

These ancient megaliths are carved with animal motifs, usually soaring, stylized stags but can also featuring horses, tigers, and wild boar. They serve as profound spiritual markers for life, death, and the cosmos. The alukhai believe they act as spiritual guides, carrying the souls of deceased nomads upward to the heavenly realm. The stones are a nexus, connecting the earthly plane of mortals with the celestial sky. Their dead are buried at these stones.

A massive siberian elm tree stands alone on a gusty hilltop. It's thick hull has a healthy canopy, covered with small, green clusters that bloom in early spring and are followed by flat, round, paper-like winged seeds called samaras in the summer. The tree drops all it's leaves in the winter, leaving only the twisting silver branches behind. It is a natural landmark for the mid point between the steppe and the lower desert, signaling to a mongol that they have made it home.

Set in a grassy valley near the winter campgrounds, this small, secluded pool flows heaviest during late summer after seasonal rains. A waterfall off the dark cliffs pours into a narrow basalt canyon gorge fringed with pine trees, making it a beautiful and serene place for the nomads to rest in the shade and bathe. It is a preferred play-area for pups as well.

A striking red sandstone formation that glows fiery orange and red at sunset. It is made of iron-rich sand and siltstone, and is known to mongols as the eastern gateway into alukhai. It's rounded shape is said to represent the watchful eye of Tengri, guarding the river valley.

Bordered by the majestic Sartag Mountains, white lake is a massive freshwater sea with exceptionally pure water. It is surrounded by steep pines, larch forests and lush meadows, which are home to brown bears, big cats, elk, siberian moose, and wild yak. The lake is used as a primary drinking and bathing source during the summer season, when the clan migrates into the northern reach.

Dominated by larch, pine, poplar and birch trees, these forests are dense, well-protected, and support diverse wildlife. The ground cover is composed of mosses, lichen, and seasonal alpine berries and shrubs. It is a primary summer hunting ground for the clan, though the nokud must be wary of large predators living in the wood.

A rugged alpine range, dense with siberian taiga forests and deep glacial lakes. The northern peaks are steep with sharp cliffs while the eastern ridge is more rounded and mixed with lush alpine pastures and conifer forests. These mountains transition into sheltered alpine meadows where the nomads often live during sweltering summer months.

The moraine consists of dark gray gravel piles and rocky ridges left behind by ancient melting glaciers. These massive mounds of sand, soil, and boulders are incredibly difficult to navigate and act as a natural northern barrier. Trials are often held at this summit to test a warrior's paws.

A massive, crystal-clear sheet of blue ice surrounded by snow-dusted mountain peaks and the siberian taiga. The water is so pure that the deep freeze creates transparent, mirror-like surfaces showing giant geometric cracks, fractal designs and air bubbles frozen in time. Strong winds and shifting temperatures can sometimes push the ice plates together, creating jagged crystal walls that give the appearance of broken glass. Alukhai celebrates their annual Festival of Ice on the lake, where the clan gathers for traditional games, spars, and musical performances.

Permanent winds like a frozen white veil down the granite shoulders of the Sartag Mountain, resulting in glaciers of blue-veined ice, flanked by massive rocks and ancient stone moraines. Climbing the glacier is a strenuous undertaking, and rarely traversed by the clan save for in dire situations.

Queen consort; Empress. Usually wife to the khaan and mother of the heir, but also a principle leader beside the king. She leads the camp, advises rulers, manages diplomatic alliances, entertains emissaries, and may lead warriors in battle. She is the foremost lady; overseer of the consorts and served by the harem.

JINONG

Crown prince or heir apparent. Responsible for military leadership, managing the herds, maintaining inter-pack communication, dolling out justice, shadowing the khaan and leading emissary expeditions abroad. He will be especially educated political matters through the court ordo.

TAYIJI

A prince. Sons of the khatun and consorts. Responsible for military leadership, helping with herd management, maintaining inter-pack communication and dolling out justice.

GONJI

A princess. Daughters of the khatun and consorts. Tasked with governing conquered territories, managing diplomatic alliances through strategic marriages, and fighting in military campaigns, as well as coordinating seasonal migrations. They are trained in music and literacy, and may take on specific studies or concentrations in the arts.

CONSORT

Wives of the khaan acquired through political alliance. They are served by the harem, help manage the camp, supervise servants, and their primary duty is to bear the khaan children. It is possible for a son of a consort to become jinong.

ORLOK

Military generals and advisors to khaan, guarding the royal camp and family, enforcing discipline, leading hunting expeditions and training the nokud. A trusted inner circle including diverse experts from other territories. They may be assigned to escort specific royals as personal guards.

NOKUR

Warriors, hunters, couriers, and weather readers. They reinforce borders, lead hunting expeditions, spar and train, and tend to/move the herds. They are also tasked with delivering intelligence reports and military orders across the empire, information gathering, as well as providing information on local conditions, potential threats, or revolts to the khaan.

OTOCHI

Shaman, physicians, herbalists. In general, they practice shamanism, bone-setting, and medicine, as well as spiritual healing and herbal medicine and diet management. They may gather and store herbs, and act as spiritual advisors.

EKH BARIGCH

Midwives and caretakers. They may also act as teachers and pup-sitters. Their focus is on prenatal care, monitoring the mother's health throughout pregnancy, assessing the health of the pups, and assisting the otochi in the delivery process.

CONCUBINE

Harem women; entertainers, dancers and decorators. Often acquired from conquered territories and given as wives to the nokud after victories. They serve under the primary wives in domestic and sexual roles, supporting camp life while men are away and often face low social status and strict servitude. They are subjected to the orders of high-ranking wives and are expected to produce children. They serve to increase the status of their master, and may be involved in the defense of the clan in times of war.

BOGOL

Prisoners and household servants. They primarily perform the forced labor of tending to livestock and clearing dung.

HISTORY

The fertile Orkhon River Valley was once the heartland of the pastoral clans whose horsemen, the khans, commanded the great steppe. Fearing the rise of a united nomadic power, the han sought to keep the tribes divided— pitting khan against khan, obstructing trade, and provoking bloody raids that would leave the clans weakened and suspicious of one another. Every child was raised in the discipline of war, prepared from youth for a life of hardship, famine, and battle.

“The Heavens have rejected China for its excessive pride and luxury. I, on the other hand, living in the northern steppes, have no such tendencies in me; I like simplicity and the purity of morals; I reject luxury and follow moderation; I have one dress, one food; I wear the same furs and eat the same things as the cows and horse shepherds; my people agree in our endeavors, we have had mutual love for a long time.”

It was Khaan Subutai of Nazgur who saw through the han’s manipulation and rallied the horse clans under a single banner against their enemy. Warriors and women alike joined his army and he became the Great Khagan; khan of khans. United at last, the mongols retaliated, massacring northern han villages and demanding the empire withdraw from their lands.

But they would not succeed. After months of stalemate, tragedy befell the steppe as prince Jochi, heir to the mongolian empire, was slain. The khagan’s army was forced into retreat. With his people facing a slow death, Batu, military official and bastard son of the khagan, proposed a marriage alliance between the two kingdoms, a treaty which would buy precious time to recover while spies infiltrated the han borders. What Batu did not know was that the bride offered to secure the peace would be Saikhanbayar, the woman promised to him.

Taken from the steppe and renamed Ye Lanyi, Saikhanbayar was carried into the heart of the han empire, and despite the mongols' best efforts, their home was destroyed. The Orkhon Valley fell into ruin, the horse people killed or scattered through war, famine, and conquest.

Military generals and advisors to khaan, guarding the royal camp and family, enforcing discipline, leading hunting expeditions and training the nokud. A trusted inner circle including diverse experts from other territories. They may be assigned to escort specific royals as personal guards.

NOKUR

Warriors, hunters, couriers, and weather readers. They reinforce borders, lead hunting expeditions, spar and train, and tend to/move the herds. They are also tasked with delivering intelligence reports and military orders across the empire, information gathering, as well as providing information on local conditions, potential threats, or revolts to the khaan.

OTOCHI

Shaman, physicians, herbalists. In general, they practice shamanism, bone-setting, and medicine, as well as spiritual healing and herbal medicine and diet management. They may gather and store herbs, and act as spiritual advisors.

EKH BARIGCH

Midwives and caretakers. They may also act as teachers and pup-sitters. Their focus is on prenatal care, monitoring the mother's health throughout pregnancy, assessing the health of the pups, and assisting the otochi in the delivery process.

CONCUBINE

Harem women; entertainers, dancers and decorators. Often acquired from conquered territories and given as wives to the nokud after victories. They serve under the primary wives in domestic and sexual roles, supporting camp life while men are away and often face low social status and strict servitude. They are subjected to the orders of high-ranking wives and are expected to produce children. They serve to increase the status of their master, and may be involved in the defense of the clan in times of war.

About The Family

The Fujiwara Clan are an ancient Imperial family of Japanese-speaking wolves who all trace a common ancestor back to Ryu – the clan’s founding Emperor who’s said to have been the vessel of Ryūjin - god of the sea. The clan was primarily known for their Ecological Intelligence, Storytelling, and general Pacifism. They held great knowledge of the plants and animals that surrounded their homeland and a healthy curiosity for those that weren't.

The clan sought to take great care of the gardens and wisteria that decorated their lands, which was the reason as to why the territory was often surrounded by flourishing plant life and towering trees. They believed the forests of wisteria held the souls of those who have passed on, and regularly tended to them as a way of honoring the dead.

It appears to be a genetically dominant gene in the family to have monochromatic coloring like greys, blacks and whites. Although those within the bloodline can most certainly vary from this.

I. Union; our differences are bound to draw us apart on our worst days, but as a pack against a world driven to tear us apart, we can only find strength as one.

II. Peace; as wolves, our instincts to draw blood before we think are undeniably strong, but true strength is only ever found in self control. We must not give in to needless violence and try to solve our problems with a level head and a light heart.

Lead figureheads of the dynasty who are in charge of the pack and their wellbeing.

Ten’nō (天皇) - The Emperor of the Dynasty; a title either given by inheritance rights or through marriage with the Empress. Equal in power to their spouse, their word is law.

Kōgō (皇后) - The Empress of the Dynasty; a title either given by inheritance rights or through marriage with the Emperor. Equal in power to their spouse, their word is law.

Daikomon (大顧問) - The Grand Councilor. Second in command within the Dynasty/right hand of the emperor and empress. They aid in helping oversee the pack and are in charge in the absence of the Emperor and Empress.

"Imperial Family"

Members of the Fujiwara family or those who’ve married into the family. They play a role in representing the family during celebrations or pack gatherings and carry blood rights to the throne if something were to happen to the heir. Members can be married into the family.

Kōkei-sha (1) (後継) - The crowned heir to the throne after the death, disappearance, or retirement of the dynasty’s rulers. 1st in line for the throne. Usually reserved for a son or daughter of the Emperor and Empress, but can be taken by another family member if they fail to produce a child.

"Nobility"

Those honored among the dynasty itself for their skill sets and achievements, and have thus achieved the title of nobles among the pack. Can either be from the fujiwara family or a different one

Kizoku ( ∞ ) (貴族) - Lord/Lady; Honorary title.

Suke ( ∞ ) (助) - "Lady-in-Waitng" or "Gentleman-in-Waiting". Wolves that act as direct assistants and guides to the Emperor, Empress, Prince and Princesses. They are tasked mostly with teaching young heirs and guiding them to become royalty one day, along with guiding their assigned leader. Each is assigned one and usually sticks with them for life.

Kannushi (2) (神主) - The Pack's Priests/Priestess. They act as counselors, peacemakers, and spiritual leaders – In charge of keeping peace between members and aiding in pack conflicts. They are also in charge of lifting the spirits of others through difficult times and hosting ceremonies such as weddings, celebrations, ect.

Rekishiya (1) (歴史家) - The family historian. In charge of organizing and keeping record of family members, safeguarding heirlooms, and preserving the family legacy.

Chiryōchō (2) (治療長) - The chief medic/doctor of the pack. Often called on by the imperial family to tend to births or other ailments.

Shuryōchō (2) (狩猟長) - Lead hunters. In charge of keeping track of food caches, locating new hunting locations, and keeping leadership up to date on any food shortages.

Geisha (芸者) - Entertainers trained in the arts of song, dance poetry, and much more. They often perform during ceremonies and events.

Engeika (園芸家) - Horticulturalists in charge of maintaining the gardens and plant life of the Dynasty

"Military"

The Sword and shield of the pack. The protect the Dynasty from threats and enforce law and order within their ranks.

Shōgun (将軍) - The war general. Leader of the military who trains those below him and prepares them for battle when necessary.

Samurai (武士) - Royal guard of Leadership and the Imperial family. Though in charge of protecting the pack like other warriors, they have proven themselves capable enough in the eyes of leadership to protect the family and thus kept closely towards the bloodline. The Academy

For villagers who seek work and wish to hone their skills in a trade, the academy is the place for them. Those working towards a trade are immediately placed in one of the three branches that represent the balance of the spirit: Heart, soul, tooth, and claw. Based on their chosen trade, they are regularly sent out on missions, made to participate in events, and given tasks to further hone their skills within the dynasty. They have the opportunity for rank promotion as they progress. Ranks with a star(*) next to them are members of the academy.

Laws of The Land

I. “Everyone carries an obligation.”

The dynasty is a community of wolves who rely on one another. Everyone must play their part and put in work during times of need, for that is the only way the dynasty will thrive.

II. “Take pride in your earned status, but do not abuse it.”

No one is to use their rank as a means to belittle and discriminate against those within the dynasty.

III. “Approach with neutrality, unless proven otherwise.”

Strangers appearing at the border are to be approached with respect, yet suspicion.

IV. “Do not draw the blood of thy neighbor.”
Members of the pack are to only draw blood towards the enemy. Murder and violence against a member of the dynasty, no matter their rank, is strictly forbidden.

V. “The word of the crown is final.”
The Emperor and Empress’s word is law. Members are free to express questions or concerns during pack meetings, but blatant disrespect and undermining of authority will be met with punishment.

VI. “Authority exists to serve, not rule.”
While the word of leadership is law, corruption of leadership is just as bad as tyranny, as it puts the citizens of the dynasty in grave danger. Those of higher rankings are expected to follow the law like everyone else.

VII. “Worse than violence”
Rape, Sexual assault, forced marraige, or anything in relation to it is considered just as grave a crime as murder. Those who commit such face grave punishment.

VIII. “Respect the land which you tread on.”
The overharvesting, wastefulness or destruction of resources will not be tolerated, as the land beneath us is sacred and should be treated as such.

IX. “Protect the beginning and end of a life.”

Expecting mothers, children, and the elderly represent the beginning and ending of life; they are the most vulnerable of the clan, and therefore are to be protected and treated with respect and dignity at all costs

X. “Blessing of the crowned.”

To ensure all resources remain in order within the dynasty, those who wish to conceive children are to receive the blessing of the monarchy first.

One of many branches of Dusk royalty. Siblings Apricot & Apple find themselves in Mythris and after trial and tribulation, unable to find their way home from this savage magical land, figure the best thing they can do is settle down. Create a safe place for Dusk's and other lost souls to land and feel at home, spread the word for their lost family members.
For the most part it's a carbon copy of the Kingdom they grew up in, but while they keep much of their laws and regulations, most of the fancy titles and such are just tradition and clinging to what's familiar; the reality is something gentler and more welcoming than the hard exterior they show to outsiders.
Thus, the kingdom of the Dusk Oasis was born.

Royalty

King / Queen / Monarch ; Head of the kingdom, the absolute ruler, makes final decisions on all accounts but may turn to the Royal Council for wisdom. Limit of two, specifically Dusk-born.

King Consort / Queen Consort / Consort ; Shares any and all duties, power, and respect their partners do. May not even be referred to as “consort” depending on the rulers.

Crown Prince / Crown Princess / Crown Heir ; The specifically chosen next-in-line decided however the current monarch(s) choose. Most often but not always, the very firstborn of the monarch and their Consort. No distinguishable difference between other potential heirs, can still be challenged based on the rules of the kingdom.

Prince / Princess / Heir ; Heir to the kingdom and either in learning or in practice to one day potentially take the throne or marry into another kingdom to rule. Expected to attend and input during court. May not accept members until 2 years of age. Emissary ; Scout, messenger, spy, and ambassadors alike. May not accept members, but may promote ranks with permission. Limit of one. Expected to attend and input during court.

Sworn Sword ; Those who have given their oath to a royal or council member are considered in high enough honor to sit on the council. Those assigned to a royal can accept new members at said royals discretion. Expected to attend Court. No specific gender, limit one per “Chosen” but otherwise not capped. See ceremony for more “duties”/details on what they do.

Nobility

Lord / Lady / Noble ; Basic members of the kingdom who have proven themselves notable in a specific skill (IC, not by badges) and helpful to the kingdom as a whole. Expected to help where they are best suited, but also where they are needed. Expected to attend and allowed to input during court.

Vassal ; Basic members of the kingdom expected to help where they are able and expand their skills. Should be well-rounded in basics, but are encouraged to always keep learning. Expected to attend and are allowed to input during court. This is where committed newcomers are ranked upon joining, assuming they have basic survival skills.

Squire ; Puppies/yearlings of the kingdom(not of royalty)! Expected to learn the ways of the kingdom and begin fitting in, as well as figure out what skills they want to develop in service of the kingdom. Allowed to attend and input during court.

Commoners

Citizen ; Long-term guests of the kingdom that don’t have to do more than provide for themselves during their stay. May attend but not give input during court.

Peasant ; Disgraced, former members (or enemies) of the kingdom that have either been demoted and expected to potentially work their way back up, or made a permanent servant. May not attend court, and may be punished if they get caught trying to listen in.

-The ruler's word is law. To outright disobey is to risk being put on trial for treason.

-The main goal of the kingdom is unified survival, keeping things running smoothly, caches full and hidden, and keeping members well-prepared. The Kingdom’s well-being must come before any single member, always. Whatever you have to do to ensure that will be excused, no, commended.

-Personal/scouting trips are allowed and encouraged, but permission must be granted from the monarch or their betas with a timestamp on when to come looking for you for longer outings. Otherwise, you will be assumed dead, lost, or having abandoned the kingdom, and will not likely be welcomed back. Those who cannot be relied on even for communication don't belong with the kingdom, and they won't waste resources to track down an unknown variable.

-Whomever sits the crown and claims the throne must be Dusk, a law quietly passed down like a superstition… or curse. As time passes and the world evolves, they defeat their generational traumas and become more inclusive, but some habits still cling hard to old times. Same-sex ruling pairs are wholly accepted, and many ranks have adapted to include gender-neutral terms, but adoptive Dusk's are not in line to inherit. Given high ranks of honor, carry the Dusk name, may even be titled as a royal, but will never have a claim to the crown. May, in dire times, be allowed to serve temporarily as regent until the next ruler is of age if no other Dusks are available.

-The first catch of each day must be added to the cache or given to someone who is old, sick, injured, pregnant, nursing, a child or otherwise unable to hunt. Members of any rank with herbal knowledge are expected to gather herbs and help the Doctor, if needed.

-All ranks in the kingdom are able to be challenged for in some fashion. If the spot is empty, somebody can call court and claim the rank. If uncontested, they take it but not without being watched closely by the royalty. If the spot is taken, they call court and challenge the wolf that holds it directly, and usually a test will be conducted to determine who is better fit for the rank. The test usually pertains to the skill being challenged for, but it could also be a plain and simple fight for dominance. After a challenge, no matter the test's outcome, the rank may not be challenged until all sides are equally ready again. Challenges between/for royalty are different: potential heirs can talk it out and decide who gets the crown, they can fight it out, the current ruler can name a specific heir (this doesn't always work but is often respected by the kingdom itself if not the heir challenging), or they can sway the majority of the kingdom to a side, call court, and take a vote. For those not Dusk trying to become one: by this rite, rarely, a Citizen may find themselves married into the royal family by earning their place among the bloodline.

-Other than challenges, rank promotions are handled entirely IC based on their actions. Members who prove themselves useful rise in station, simple as that. If you feel you've earned more, find a monarch to speak with!

-Court are general meetings of the kingdom, which everyone (except for Commoners and the sick/injured/nursing) is expected to attend and most are allowed to voice opinions (again, except for Commoners). Only Peasants are barred from being an audience, and the others are tiebreakers or witnesses at worst. Anybody in the Oasis can go to the current ruler or their second-in-commands and ask for a court to be called, for their voice to be heard -- their right as a Dusk Kingdom member of any rank, even a Peasant.

-Trials are meetings that are held for the sole purpose of solving a crime and punishing the offender. When a member is accused of a crime against the kingdom, court is called and everyone has to listen to every side of the story. The innocent party is decided based on a vote between everyone not personally involved. After three lost trials, even if they are all level one offenses, members are banished from kingdom grounds and deemed unfit to live beside royalty and endanger the stability of the people.
Potential punishments are as follows:
Level one: Demotion to Squire, Citizen, or even Peasant in drastic cases, but with a chance to rise through the ranks all over again. May choose permanent exile instead.
Level two: Permanently demoted to Citizen or Peasant. May choose permanent exile instead.
Level three: Marked as a traitor and, depending on severity, could either be permanently exiled or ordered to death on sight.

Ceremonies:

Oath of the Sword:
-A seldom-used ritual left to collect dust from the pride of the original Dusk Kingdom; passed down by a daughter still claimed by that pride but quietly hoping for its revival. Apple was the Dusk that saw the truth; its silent abolishment had meant the downfall of her ancestors, scattered them to the four winds, and she wouldn't let the same ancient rot settle in her home.
-The whole kingdom gathers to witness, and any member may become or have a sworn sword. It's not a rank based on skill, it is a title of honor for a single trusted friend, family, or lover alike, a bond that cannot “officially” be broken the way it was crafted. No matter how the relationship might change, the Sworn Sword is honor-bound to protect their Chosen til death. Abandoning that duty brands you a coward, a traitor, assumed a permanent Peasant if not killed altogether. Plain failure is a case by case reaction; true accident might earn one sympathy, but suspected foul play or inability could also earn the same social or literal exile as abandonment. Mostly honorary rank-wise within the kingdom, but also allowed to share in the duties of their Chosen unless agreed otherwise; this often leads to an all-out career change to full-time guard (if they weren't already) or sharing in what their companion does to pass the time, but generally are excused from kingdom maintenance chores to focus on their sole true task: keeping their Chosen alive and well.
-This is a one-time-thing. If something happens to one or the other, there is never another Chosen for a Sword, no new Sword for a Chosen.
-Cannot, will not, be broken, though nobody can force you to do your job.

Marriage:
-The bride's family lines up on one side and grooms on the other to form a path -- the other members of the kingdom stand behind whichever side they’re affiliated more with.
-Only the current rulers may lead the ceremony.
-The groom and bride meet at the end of the path and walk up it together, to where the ceremony leader is waiting for them. The audience lays down to allow the couple full “spotlight” privileges.
-The bride and groom each give a vow; “To love each other through the good and bads of life, to always be honest and faithful, to support each other,” and whatever else they wish to say to declare their love and commitment.
-A gift is traded between them, something personal.
-The newly married couple howl together as long as they can, and the second howl is joined by the entire kingdom.
-A feast is ready to begin, and festivities last as long as there are still people partying, sometimes for days.

-Divorces are uncommon, but not unheard of. The couple simply goes to the monarch and requests such, no fanfare, no reasoning, just those involved who no longer wish to be.

-Puppy Showers
-When any parent-to-be of the pack begins to show their pregnancy, about halfway through, their mate will go through a series of tasks to show their appreciation for what they're doing for the family: growing new lives inside the womb, carrying their weight, providing new members for the kingdom.
-First, the mate spends a morning hunting what they can for the party. If they can’t get at least a piece for every member, there are always the caches and helpful pack members.
-Second, they have to silently find all the other members of the Kingdom without letting the pregnant parent know- this is a surprise party- and tell them to find one thing to bring. Be it something for the pups, something to play with, something decorative or memorable for a den, or even just flowers (Or herbs, for those who know which ones help!), they are told to bring everything back at a specific time to a specific place.
-After everyone has something, they go back to the meeting place and after instructing everyone to hide, they find their mate and lead them-unknowingly- to the surprise. Everyone will jump out and present their gifts.
-The pregnant parent decides when the party ends, but after they feast, they are told that their pack duties will be taken care of from then until the pups are 3 months old.

-Funerals
-All remaining members clean the fur and wounds of the fallen.
-Members closest to each fallen member (Mother/father, followed by mate and pups, ended by friends) choose a place of burial (if theres no graveyard, a memorable place, possibly somewhere with memories or somewhere they just liked to be) and are the ones to dig the grave. The closest family are in charge of carrying the body(s) to the grave and lowering them in.
-A small speech is given over the grave about the fallen: Their accomplishments, funny stories, what they did for the Kingdom, their strongest qualities. After everyone has said their piece, the King/Queen fill in the grave and the family members might leave something on top to mark it or pay respect.

Here free-spirited pioneers, tired soldiers, and stray exiles alike are offered refuge. The tribe’s values revolve around pursuit of a collective good — not just for Walosi, but for all the land’s travelers. Appreciators of the natural world, they run herds to fresh grazing, garden bountiful hidden groves of fruit and flower, and even claim alliance with birds to bridge the gap between spiritual and physical planes.

Overview

Walosi cultivates dreamers and welcomes free spirits. Coming from a diverse background, many who could find no place elsewhere might realize a welcome here, where differences are embraced and the bonds of friendship outweigh that of blood.

Walosi generally prefers to live and let live. Core to their values is the belief that all individuals are capable of change, and here, any who come in good faith have safe harbor to do so, regardless of past affiliation. It is focused on building for the future, not punishing for the past.

They freely offer aid to any that ask it, which may lead opportunists to mistake them for vulnerable idealists — but Walosi are more than willing to assert themselves with ferocity in defense of what they love. Generally more preoccupied with preventing recurrence and mending hurt than revenge, they may repel an invader with violence one day, and embrace them the next as a brother.

This open-mindedness can feel threatening at first, but the tribe’s relative ambivalence (though certainly not unawareness) about the coming and going of strangers allows the skeptical a chance to integrate at their own pace.

Harmony with Nature

Walosi values the perspectives of a wide variety of animals and actively seeks to recruit non-wolves into their ranks! Beasts who prefer solitude can also negotiate hunting or forage rights within the claim.

Roundups

Prey like elk & bison are managed and tracked. Herds are chased to keep them on fresh forage and prevent overgrazing. They are guarded to keep poachers away. In hunts, culls are chosen with the herds' long-term health in mind, ensuring food stays plentiful. Walosi may even separate and treat sick animals during outbreaks. Killing for sport is disgraceful, as is disrespecting prey. All living things share a family tie, and should be treated as such.

Bird Companions

Local flocks of corvids are allowed to share the spoils of hunts and have learned to integrate with the pack to some extent. Favors from birds include leading members to interesting things (whether what is considered interesting to a bird is also interesting to a wolf may be debatable), warning of newcomers, sending messages, and leaving gifts. Some of these clever avians may even manage to pick up the language of wolves.

Secret Orchards

When gathering plants & herbs, Walosi take only the fourth of every one they find to ensure the territory remains bountiful. They actively collect and bury seeds of plants that are preferred throughout the claim, forming hidden orchards to feed themselves and entice the herds. They also cultivate caterpillars and relocate bee swarms, which supports many beautiful fields of flowers.

Wild Horse Band

Wild horses graze Walosi lands. Nate has made plain his desire the herd be protected, not hunted. Especially following the realization that some are able to speak! Good grazing is always kept for them. In return, the herd sometimes helps Walosi carry trade goods across Mythris, and keep watch over the territory. You might even get to ride one, if you're lucky!

The Council

Councils comprised of all established, adult members are the primary mode of decision making or settling disputes. It is a space in which any packmate can field any topic they consider important, and Walosi may decide as a group how to proceed.

When the leaders of Unole clan determine newcomers or youngsters have matured or integrated well enough into Walosi ways, they will speak to the Raven Chief. The Chief will invite them to join Council, and they may sit ever after. Generally this takes some time and several instances of proving adherence to the Tribe’s values.

During Council meetings, any member may speak, but none should interrupt. Disagreements are welcomed, and careful consideration and questioning are valued, as are bringing forward alternative points of view to best consider all angles of a problem. However, if a proposition gains no or very little support after being fielded, then for the sake of reaching consensus, that particular argument ought to be dropped.

The Chieftans are generally expected to help steer conversation and mediate any heated moments. Their opinions carry a lot of weight, however, they may not dictate their will to the Council. Chieftans are expected to enact the Council’s decision, even if they personally disagree.

Restorative justice is the preferred means of handling most offenses, which are examined case-by-case. Intent, remorse, soundness of mind, and severity of harm are considered.
Exile, temporary or permanent, may be considered in cases of serious or repetitive harm, where restoration is not possible and other attempts at solving the problem have failed.

Family & Mateship

Emphasis on freedom and harmony allows packmates to live authentically. Gender identity and sexual/romantic orientation are respected as part of natural diversity.

Generally, family matters are matrifocal. For example:

Lineages are traced & venerated through the mother’s side.
In child-rearing, the mother has more authority. Her brother has greater say & parental responsibility than the father of a child.
Dens belong to a female in cases of shared occupancy, usually the eldest (Upon taking a mate, males generally move in with their wife.)
If a male-female pair separates, the female keeps the den (If he has no other home, the male generally moves back in with his mother.)
Mates are taken by mutual agreement. It is polite to ask for the mothers’ blessings.
Mates should not share a maternal ancestor, to prevent inbreeding.

Celebrations & Rites

Walosi are a people who love song and dance, and can be very warm with one another. They have a familiar sense of humor and may be prone to teasing. Evenings are often spent socializing at camp, telling stories, and playing games.

The Tsiskwa clan collects and distributes feathers to packmates, which may be given to commemorate moments of great courage, healing, grief, or other significant life events. Feathers can only be worn by tribe members if given by this clan, or by the bird that grew it.

Important life events like new births, marriages, alliances, and recovery of those severely wounded, also bring about feast-days and night-long dances. Other feast-days take place yearly during the crane migration’s arrival, first heavy snow, the start of calving season, and the springtime awakening of the butterflies.

During these, older wolves might chew dried tobacco leaves and partake of fermented fruits.

When a new wolf is invited to sit Council, they are generally acknowledged with a pat on the back by the rest of the Council once it adjourns (Yeah, your shoulder’s gonna be sore.) Some few might offer private congratulations or welcomes, but Walosi generally tries not to make too big a fuss about it, in the interest of giving the rite a solemn feel, and keeping the focus on the collective. Joining is seen as a big step. Rather than be too eager to speak out immediately, new members are best served learning to listen and understand in their first several meetings.

Spirituality & Religion

While there is some acknowledgement of a Creator being, spirit & ancestor veneration, and stories to circulate around these, it is considered important in Walosi that nothing of a religious nature be enforced. Each individual is entitled to personal preference in this regard, so long as the belief is not overly destructive. Packmates may bring and blend their own beliefs, turning Walosi into a kind of melting-pot of spirituality as new philosophies take root.

The Seven Clans

Walosi divides duties into seven clans, which sit grouped together during Council meetings and may elect middle-leadership among themselves. The bonds between clans are fierce, built from sharing joys and seeking guidance, and an insult to one member is often considered an insult to all the rest.

Different clans cooperate on many tasks, and there is mobility between them — some packmates take longer to find their place, others enter different seasons of life and discover their calling has changed. While friendly rivalry may often ensue, the clans are expected to have respect for each other and value one another’s wisdom.

Clan is generally chosen based on personal interest/aptitude. While it's expected a member become proficient and available to help with their Clan's tasks, Walosi does not keep strict order in the day-to-day. Generally any member of any clan might go hunting, foraging, trading, or exploring at their own prerogative.

Chieftans & Elders ⌵
tribe leadership

The Raven Chief guides the pack internally. They mediate disputes which escalate beyond the powers of the Unole clan, safeguard cultural practices, and see to it that Council decisions regarding internal matters are adhered to efficiently. For the most part, the Raven Chief has more practical authority than the Eagle Chief.

The Eagle Chief, sometimes misunderstood by outsiders to be just a "war chief", are heads of diplomacy and external affairs. If an outside pack seeks alliance or wishes to make peace, they must negotiate terms with the Eagle Chief, who in turn confers with the rest of the pack. If Walosi determines conflict is necessary, the Eagle Chief also becomes the primary strategist and heads up the organization of warbands.

The Eagle Chief may be the only leader outside factions even know Walosi has, as they are the ones who will helm political forays of all kinds. Even if the Raven Chief attends these meetings, they will usually not be announced by their title — given that it should have no bearing on proceedings.

It is desired that each of the seven clans have a leader elected among themselves to maintain order and coordinate with the other leaders and Chiefs. Usually, this is the oldest or most experienced of their members.

Unole ⌵
“wind” — counselors, diplomats, and newcomers.

Unole is the largest clan, though also the most widely moved between. Those who make a permanent home of it are generally known for their generosity and kindness. They arbitrate disputes, negotiate peace, and it is from this clan that diplomats are generally selected to treat with outsiders.

It is also the place all newcomers enter. Until you have found your true clan, Unole will safeguard and guide you. Keeping the best counselors close to those with the least experience in Walosi culture ensures help is always readily available.

Trained Unole keep track of the coming and going of strangers in the territory, making sure the land is respected by visitors. They work closely with Waya in maintaining the border. Unole are the wagging tail, where the Waya are the teeth that guard it.

Iawi ⌵
“deer” — hunters, herders, wranglers, and messengers.

Iawi live for the thrill of the chase, tracking and pruning herds according to the pack’s needs. Lithe and strong, with the endurance to rival their namesakes, they are often free-spirited and wild. Youngsters newly independent are often drawn to this way of life.

But here the canny may thrive, too. Herds are not just hunted, but tracked and utilized for the good of Walosi. Iawi work with the Sochan to keep elk, bison, and deer on fresh grazing — rounding them up and leading them to places where they can grow fat on sugar-grass, and away from vulnerable fields of new sprouts or depleted ground.

As it is preferred to always have some following the herds, Iawi may spend much time away from the rest of the clan and are more accustomed than most to sleeping rough under the stars. They also defend Walosi’s food sources from invading poachers (predators who have not negotiated a hunting right) and contend with territorial bulls or protective mothers, putting them in harms way more often than nearly any other clan.

Because of these skills, Iawi are also messengers, sending swift words across Walosi — and beyond, to strangers, allies, or enemies. In some cases, their fieldcraft skills may also see them utilized as scouts, guides, or escorts.

Sochan ⌵
“coneflower” — land-keepers, gardeners, and apiarists.

Sochan maintain the floral beauty of Walosi. This includes pruning sick plants, collecting and dispersing seeds of beneficial ones, and keeping the Iawi clan aware of where herds are needed, so that they can be rounded up and herded elsewhere if they are overgrazing, or encouraged into places where fresh vittles are ample, to fatten them.

Sochan create living art, cultivating fields of wildflowers and tending groves of edible plants like tubers, apple trees, and berry bushes. They may bring interesting new plants to the Gigagei for examination, or even accompany Waya or Iawi abroad in search of medicines described by the healers.

With the plethora of nectar-drinking butterflies being one of Walosi’s great prides, Sochan also keep and tend to caterpillars, providing them with food and sheltering chrysalises. Some enterprising Sochan may even attempt to relocate beehives to useful locations if they find a queen and her entourage on the move.

Sagonige ⌵
“blue” — artists, nannies, and caretakers.

No family can exist without caretakers to tend the day-to-day. Sagonige are midwives, milk-providers, den-sitters, crafters, collectors, quartermasters, and more. They keep the pack sheltered, the elderly comfortable, and the next generation safe. Some may have a dedicated and preferred role, but most go where there is greatest need, whether it is to aid Gigagei in tending the sick or Sochan in harvesting fruit.

Sagonige may be very artistic, using dried flowers and clay to decorate den-sites and working with bird companions to weave braids into fur, or jewelry from shells and long grass. They are appreciators of beauty, and unafraid of toil even when the work appears unglamorous. Walosi cannot exist without them

Gigagei ⌵
“red” — healers and medicine makers

The Gigagei have devoted themselves to the study of healing. They are skilled in the mending of sick — body, mind, and soul. The best of them are patient and detail-oriented, with good listening skills. Most of all it takes great courage to be a healer — a runny nose is perhaps transient, but yellow fever or the grim wounds of battle require swift and decisive treatment. There is no place for hesitation. Training as a Gigagei takes the longest of all the clans, and they tend to be fewer in number than others.

Younger members of the clan, or those who feel a passion for healing but have scars which limit their ability to interface with gruesome and startling wounds may occupy a role of medicine maker. These members gather and mix stores. They may also help rehabilitate those recovering from illness or injury.

The Gigage work closely with Sochan in the cultivation of medicinal plants.

Waya ⌵
“wolf” — warriors and protectors

In times of conflict, it is the Waya who protect Walosi. Strong, brave, and cunning, these warriors patrol the border, fend off unfriendly invaders, and make plain to visitors that the pack’s generosity is not to be mistaken for ignorance. They are expected to be disciplined and maintain good bodily form, which has led to some reputation for being overly-invested in physical pursuits. They play rough, and their dedication to the role may often manifest in either intimidating stoicism or fiery passion.

Because Walosi makes some effort to avoid war, and prefers to integrate strangers rather than repel them if possible, the Waya hone themselves most often by helping the other clans. They may hold down the wounded during painful treatment, protect Unole on missions of diplomacy, assist Iawi in fending off particularly aggressive predators and bulls, and guard packmates on excursions past the border.

Where other clans are generally preoccupied with corporeal perspective, the Tsiskwa see the world through a different lens. They invoke and safeguard a plane less obvious to the mortal eye, communing with spirits of nature and searching out Mythris’s mysteries.

Walosi is permissive of differences in religion, and so different Tsiskwa may put faith a wide variety of gods or supernatural beings. In this place where so many come from all across worlds and times, there is great wisdom in pooling spiritual resources.

The Tsiskwa are also aviculturists. Birds are widely believed to be messengers between worlds, and so sick and wounded of their kind are also tended by the Tsiskwa, with the aid of the Gigagei. They feed wild birds, and may even raise fledglings or help packmates imprint on hatchlings.

This clan alone may collect and distribute feathers to packmates, which may be given to commemorate moments of great courage, healing, grief, or other significant life events.

Restorative justice is the preferred means of handling most offenses, which are examined case-by-case. Intent, remorse, soundness of mind, and severity of harm are considered.
Exile, temporary or permanent, may be considered in cases of serious or repetitive harm, where restoration is not possible and other attempts at solving the problem have failed.

Family & Mateship

Lineages are traced & venerated through the mother’s side.
In child-rearing, the mother has more authority. Her brother has greater say & parental responsibility than the father of a child.
Dens belong to a female in cases of shared occupancy, usually the eldest (Upon taking a mate, males generally move in with their wife.)
If a male-female pair separates, the female keeps the den (If he has no other home, the male generally moves back in with his mother.)
Mates are taken by mutual agreement. It is polite to ask for the mothers’ blessings.

Hail ye wanderers, rogues, and ne'er do wells — do your feet grow weary? Your throat dry? We’re a miserable lot, but there’s no sense being lonely! Follow the coast and you’ll find her sooner or later, Highwayman Howff is open for business!

A waystation for drifting souls and industrious traders, the Howff will board anyone with means to pay — whether that be with gems and jewels, fresh food or drink for the larder, or time and labor. Transient visitors are free to enjoy the Howff as merely a rambunctious rest stop. There's soft beds, good(ish) music, games, and dance. Or if your distractions are more vice-like, a variety of recreational substances can grant you relief. The lonely can even find "companionship."

Aye, on the surface, it's your typical tavern. But there's more to this Howff than meets the eye.

Runaways, pharaohs, fugitives, adventurers, traders — folk from all across Mythris might find their way to the door, and that makes it a veritable font of information. If you’re looking for someone, or something, the Howff is the best place to start. If you want a calling, and have a burning need to make a name for yourself, then someone here can probably point you in the right direction. And if you need to beat some heat, it’s not a bad place to disappear into a well of conflicting rumours, either...

Ask the inkeep and they’ll tell you the name is just a play on words. But that’s not strictly true. Lyra and Mal run a crew of mercenaries out of their tavern — happy to serve in a variety of above board roles when the pay is good… or take what pleases them when it’s not. Discreetly, of course. While they’re not likely to boast of their less-admirable exploits, the right word in the right ear could open certain doors.

But Travelers take heed, the inn sits on ground beloved by fair folk. Tread with respect, and neglect not your manners when speaking to the fae!

Respect the Howff
Mal and Lyra are not to be disrespected.
(They can only disrespect each other.)
Their kids aren’t to be harmed or threatened. If you have complaints, you can make them directly to mom or pop.

It’s polite to offer a small portion of your vittles & earnings to the local fae.

Got a fella you just can’t stand? They skimped on a deal, broke their oath, stole your girl, invaded your territory, or, hey, maybe they just chew way too loud?

Bring your grievance to the Howff, and put up a bounty. If Freelancers like what you’re offering, they’ll help you find ‘em, bring ‘em in, or give ‘em what they’ve got coming.

(Well… assuming said Bounty couldn’t make the Howff a better offer, anyway.)

HIGH PROFILE MARKS ⌵

Sometimes the Howff gets wind of a particularly high-profile target, and throws its own bounty into the pot to have it dealt with.

These range from RNG ‘scavenger hunts’ to tracking hidden treasures to battles with a character brought in just to be a bounty target. Bring them in for Howff credit, loot, or maybe even a chance to adopt the character into your own roster!

ENTERTAINERS & SPIES ⌵

Ok, so you have a wedding, or a big important diplomatic meeting coming up. You need entertainers! You need information!

The Howff can provide you with bards to sing, dance, or do magic tricks. Maybe even cleverly insult your rivals.

If you’re looking for more lusty forms of persuasion, Lords and Ladies of the Evening can provide more… carnal approaches to the task. Or just pretend to date you, so you don’t look like a total loser in front of the other guys.

Both can be prevailed upon as spies, too, weasling into places and hearts to gather information you pay them for.

TREASURE HUNTING ⌵

Looking for a bauble? A rare pelt, some old-Mythris jewelry, exotic plants, or a really cool looking rock? Freelancers can be tasked with tracking down these monuments to wealth, curiosity, or love!

It’s advised to be very specific about the terms and potential division of loot on such expeditions! And bring a good haggler with you to collect.

Cursed objects cost extra.

PROTECTION & MUSCLE ⌵

Maybe you’re involved in the headache of an inheritance dispute, or loners keep raiding your trade routes with the neighbors. A bear is eating all your salmon. If you need some extra muscle to reinforce your territory and protect what’s yours, the Howff can provide.

They probably won’t send the same people who were robbing you to do the guarding.

THE BACKROOM ⌵

Highwayman Howff is a legitimate business! But if you’re looking for discreet help that isn’t overly concerned with things like karma and political scandal… well, they might know a gal or two.

Prepare to pay a premium for anything like royal assassinations, stealing crown jewels, or providing ‘test subjects’ for your ‘science experiments.’

Permanent residents of the inn might be few, but any traveller worth their salt will want to have some association with the Howff, and will return to defend it if needed. There’s always something to do at the tavern, and a place for hardworking hands.

"CAPTAIN // BOSS"

Leadership of the Howff is split evenly between Lyra, the Captain, and Mal, the Boss. An insult to one is an insult to the other, and they make any major decisions about high profile jobs or enforcement of law in the Howff as a team. While they can be friendly, fun company, and aren't afraid to get their own paws dirty — they expect obedience and respect. Woe betide anyone who thinks to test the authority of Captain or Boss.

Lyra and Mal's children enjoy a seat of particular privilege. The Howff was created at all primarily to give the whelps protection and security growing up. Attempting to in any way harm, or even discipline the Captain's kids without her say so, is a good way to get kicked out of the Howff. If they're getting underfoot, tell the parents, and let them handle it. For your own longevity.

The first in line to assess new arrivals, they also need to be keen-eyed, discreet, and have a good memory for faces and rumours.

Freelancers, adventurers, and other folk looking to ply a trade. Some stay at the tavern between jobs and may even help out as guards or bouncers. Others just stop by now and then to catch up on the going’s-on. Each will have their own reputation and style. Some may achieve such legendary renown as to be asked for by name on certain jobs. Those with the most diverse sets of skills will have the most flexibility. Whether their motives are pure-hearted or purely selfish, here is the place to come to find fitting work.

Performers and storytellers, who keep the place lively. They also spread word of the Howff to interested parties and collect rumours. Many are talented freelancers or lifelong wanderers themselves, and can spin tales of derring-do to inspire all that hear it. But take care — get on the bad side of a bard, and the songs they sing about you might not be so glamorous…

Some folk come to the tavern lonely or restless, and it’s the talent of a whore to coax them into better states of mind. Those set up at the Howff split earnings with the inn and are expected to make enough to cover the room they keep — but otherwise have free reign to choose their clients and set their own limits. They may be finders and keepers of valuable information, coaxed from blissful lips after nights of passion.

Folk trained in the art of healing or the appeasing of spirits are valuable for their wisdom, and a welcome sight at the Howff. For dispersals and drifters, access to this kind of help might be hard to find, and having a place to go to reliably find it is a great boon.

Fae folk who live in Verdigris Row without taking on any other profession at the inn. Though they coexist in relative peace, they’re not strictly beholden to the rules of the inn outside its doors, and might have all manner of motives or interests. Travelers take caution when meeting alluring strangers out in the wilderness! Fae can make for lively company, powerful protectors, or terrible foes.

"Fight Night

(We don't talk about fight night)

Roughly every fortnight (or when the mood strikes enough folk), Howff hosts a Fight Night. They're good ways to blow off steam and get a gambling fix in. Impromptu matches may be prompted by leadership if a dispute between folk (such as over a whore, or an offensive bardic snipe) escalates at the bar — making for an easy way to resolve questions of thievely honour and profit off of other's poor manners.

At the start of a typical Fight Night, a ring of onlookers forms in the center of the inn or the front yard, an honorary referee is appointed, bets are taken, and opponents square up.

The referee's job is mainly to ensure no one kills anyone else; fighters can establish baseline rules ranging from simple wrestling to permissions to maim and scar... though these rules may get thrown out the window along with your opponent once the blood gets pumping.

The ring is meant to keep the fighters in a set arena. It is considered particularly exciting when fights spill out of the ring.

Some Nights are simple streams of 1v1s, others evolve into tiered ranked matches, and still some end up battles of endurance — a focal challenger attempting to stay victorious in the ring against a slew of consecutive matchups.

"Knucklebones

Talus bones cleaned from prey (usually sheep, goats, or deer) can be used as dice in fast-paced betting games. The shape of these bones makes each side distinct, essentially creating a four-sided dice. Each side has a name: Partridge, Convex, Concave, Dog

Betting pots are filled with coins (or whatever the players are accepting as currency: gems, feathers, morsels, doing someone's chores, taking shots, etc)

There are several different ways to play!

FOUR OF A KIND
(Chance, Simple)

To make a play, four knucklebones are shaken and tossed. Any time a Dog side is rolled, a coin is added to the pot. A set of four all facing the same way, in any configuration, will win the entire pot.

CAPTAIN'S BONES
(Chance, Complex)

To make a play, four knucklebones are shaken and tossed. Each side is worth a different number of points. The configuration each roll falls in determine how much goes into the pot. May go on for 5-25 rounds. Whoever has the most total points at the end takes the pot.

Partridge - 6 points (12% chance)
Convex - 4 points (38% chance)
Concave - 3 points (38% chance)
Dog - 1 points (12% chance)

CATCH THE TALUS
(Dexterity, Simple)

Each contender gets five throws where they toss four bones high into the air, and catch them again in their mouth. Any they don't catch must remain on the ground for the rest of their turn. The turn ends if all their bones end up on the floor, they stumble badly, or run out of tosses. The winner catches the most bones on their turn. Primarily a game of skill, but can be bet upon as well.

WOLFJACKS
(Dexterity, Complex)

The goal is to 'capture' at least 40 bones. Ten knucklebones at a time are scattered across a space, usually a circle scratched out in the dirt. Another bone is thrown up in the air, and as it falls, the contender must fit as many scattered bones into their mouth as they can before also catching the falling bone. If they do not catch the falling bone, they get no points for that turn. If they do catch it, they can tally all picked up bones to their total. Contenders take turns until someone wins by capturing a total of 40.

Swallowing any knucklebones is considered an immediate forfeit to victory.

"Floorshows

While Bardic entertainment is a fairly nightly occurrence, it's common for the Howff to host Floorshows, especially for pre-planned revelries when entertaining high-profile guests. Participants tend to be Bards, but all are welcome to sign on and show off. They will compose and practice their best entertainment gigs for the crowd, who will be equipped with sour fruit and stale chunks of meat in addition to whatever valuables they see fit to purse.

Acts then compete for the most accolades (and fewest tossed rottery.) Skilled performers may be showered in valuables and adoration. Flops, or the vaguely irritating, will be pelted in rotten plant goo and mouldy fish. Generally one is allowed to stay in the running for as long as their nose can stand it, but the ones who refuse to admit an inescapable defeat will eventually be thrown off the "stage" by force.

Floorshows can be competitive, and it's common for participants to end up taking turns with different acts of song, dance, and acrobatic acuity, trying to outperform the other. Evenly matched frontrunners can keep a Floorshow going for hours until they are reduced to improvisation, their battles as fierce and engaging as a gladiatorial ring. Occasionally, Floorshow devolves into Fight Night.

Wealthy but dangerous, watch their trade caravans closely. Lyra and Mal previously attempted a raid. Pharaoh and handmaiden were wounded in the attack. Though the highwaymen escaped capture and do not boast about the robbery, Lyra would be easy to recognize by anyone familiar with the crime.

To the Dynasty, outsiders are treated with polite suspicion at best and quite disdain at worst. To earn acceptance, a foreigner must undergo The Trials of Heaven—a series of symbolic and spiritual tests that strip away their former identity and forge them anew beneath divine rule. Success grants them a new name, a place among Heaven’s flock, and the right to call themselves Tianlong-ren (“People of the Heavenly Dragon”).

T H E L A W S O F H E A V E N

The Emperor’s word is law.

H I E R A R C H Y

The Tianlong hierarchy is currently separated into three primary categories, which continue to split into role-specific ranks:

The supreme ruler of the Dynasty and Heaven’s living voice on earth. The Emperor’s word is law, their existence is believed to maintain balance between the mortal and celestial realms. Only death or divine intervention can unseat them.

The Imperial Harem is a collection of consorts, mistresses, and concubines bound to the Emperor’s household. Their roles range from companionship to political leverage—gifts from foreign clans, noble families, or rival provinces seeking favor.

— Empress (Heaven's Mercy):

The Emperor’s wife and second in command within the court. She oversees the Imperial household, the harem, and internal affairs. Her influence shapes the moral and spiritual integrity of the Dynasty, and she is expected to be both virtuous and cunning.

— The Huanghou:

Consorts that had the task of advising the empress.

— Sun Consort (Heaven's Heart):

The Emperor’s most favored consort and often the heart of the inner palace. She wields significant soft power through her relationship with the Emperor, acting as confidant and emotional anchor. Her status depends entirely on favor — a fragile but powerful position.

The Concubines:

∘ Lady of Beauty (美人; měirén)

— Golden Kin:

Personal guards & sentries

Helps with all personal services, from bathing to food

∘ Shangshi (food service):
Handled offerings and the reception of guests

∘ Shangyi (ceremonial service):
Arranges the banquets & ceremonies

The Imperial Justice System

— Dragon Guard:
Elite protectors stationed within the palace grounds. They are to protect the royal family from both inside and outside threats. They are chosen from the most disciplined soldiers in the empire.

∘ Captain of the Dragon Guard:
The leader of the elite guard sworn to protect the Emperor and Royal Family. Personally chosen by the Emperor, they command both respect and fear.

∘ Imperial Headsman:
The Emperor’s appointed executor of justice. They perform executions and corporal punishment of criminals.

∘ Prisoners:
Those awaiting trial, punishment, or execution. Some are political prisoners or failed nobles.

— Icognito Branch:
These individuals usually live double lives. They have a front as one role, but really, they lurk the corridors at night and know everyone's secrets. They answer to no one but those who hire them — or the Emperor himself.

∘ Spymaster:
A master of whispers. The spymaster understands that all is rarely as it seems, and heads a small network of whisperes that keep the dynasty informed.

∘ Assassins:
They kill in the cover of night, whiping out threats with a silent strike.

— The Jade Council:
The Emperor’s inner circle of advisors. Comprised of ministers overseeing Martial Law, Faith, Diplomacy, and Labor. They interpret Heaven’s will and ensure its reflection in all affairs of the state. Third in command to both the Empress and Emperor.

∘ Lords/Ladies:
Lords and Ladies of the Dynasty.

∘ Academic Chairs:
Those who are in charge of the care and education of all dynasty children. Royal children are assigned individual tutors.

∘ Court Physician:
Healer to the Emperor and nobility, trained in medicine. Their art balances life and death as Heaven commands it. They are usually experts in the healer class skill tree.

— Magistrate of Ceremonies:
Spiritual leaders of the Dynasty. Their job is to reaffirm the Emperor's divine right. They uphold the sancitity of The Five Rites of Breath and The Book of Tèng.

∘ Master of Ceremony:
They interpret omens, oversee major rites, oversee Trials of Heaven, and advise the emperor. They are usually experts in the seer class skill tree.

∘ Sages & Acolytes:
Tends to work in tandem with healers for spiritcraft. Servants of the faith who conduct minor rituals, prepare offerings, and assist priests. Conducts rituals, helps High Priests/Priestesses conduct rituals and rites, and helps observe Trials. Helps train Acolytes.

The Serfs

Offices of the Spring (The Healing Branch)
— Aestheticians:

These tradesmen deal with the procurement & application of various dyes & perfumes. Braiding services are sometimes offered, should the creature be deft enough.

— Medics & Apprentices:

Common healers serving soldiers, travelers, and the poor. Skilled in herbal medicine and healing rituals. Includes Students of the healing arts, guided by masters in the art of healing.

Offices of the Summer (The Martial Branch)
— Imperial General:

Commander of the Dynasty’s armies and guardian of its borders. The generals lead armies, maintain border security, and train officers. They are usually experts in the warrior class skill tree. Their word is law on the field.

— Imperial Soldier & Apprentices:

The heart of the army—trained warriors sworn to the Emperor's and the Dynasty’s defense. The highest ranking soldiers are the officers, mid-level leaders who oversee platoons and manage discipline among troops.

Offices of the Autumn (The Hunter Branch)
— Master Huntsman:

Leader of the Dynasty’s hunters. Provides food and conducts ceremonial hunts honoring the Celestial Dragon, the Emperor, the royal family, and the Dynasty as a whole. Trains other Hunters. They are usually experts in the hunter class skill tree.

— Trackers & Apprentices:

Experienced trackers responsible for feeding the court and maintaining the natural order through controlled culls. Also includes scouts and novices who assist senior hunters and learn the craft.

Offices of the Winter (The Diplomatic Branch)
— Envoy & Attachés:

Ambassadors representing the Dynasty in foreign courts. They negotiate trade, alliances, and peace treaties. They are usually experts in the orator class skill tree. Attachés are Assistant diplomats, interpreters, or scribes who accompany envoys. They learn diplomacy through observation and service.

— Messenger:

Carriers of messages and decrees. Their reliability and discretion are vital, for their words can shift alliances.

R E L I G I O N

A sea of silence devoid of both life and death existed before Heaven was given a name and the stars learned to shine. Two forces emerged from that primordial emptiness: Baixue, the White Crane, born of light and wind, and Tianlong, the Celestial Dragon, born of thunder and cloud.

Coiled through the heavens, the Dragon carved rivers with his tail and made mountains with his scales. While he slept, the land beneath him solidified into continents, and when he roared, storms were created. Despite being divine, the Dragon’s strength was wild, untamed, and cruel in its isolation.

The Crane danced among the Dragon's storms as it landed on the newborn world. Her song mellowed the thunder, and her wings brought gentle breezes instead of gales. Flowers grew where her feet touched the ground, and rivers flowed cleanly where her tears fell. Because the Dragon's fire scorched everything he loved, she felt sorry for him, considering he had made a world in which he could not live in.

In the ages that followed, the Crane sought to teach the Dragon balance. “Power without restraint,” she said, “is not creation, but ruin.” The Dragon, proud and unyielding, resisted her words. He believed might alone would bring harmony. Yet every time he raged, the Crane would rise into the storm and sing, and her song would weave through his lightning until it softened into rain.

At last, the Dragon grew weary of her defiance and descended upon the earth to challenge her. They battled for a thousand days and a thousand nights — sky against wind, flame against water. The heavens burned red, and the seas boiled with their fury. But when dawn finally came, neither had won. The Crane stood wounded yet unbroken, and the Dragon lay exhausted yet alive.

In that silence after the storm, the Dragon saw for the first time how the world bloomed in the wake of their struggle. From the ashes of their battle, forests had grown. From the clash of their powers, new life had been born. And he realized the Crane’s truth: to create is not only to rule but to nurture.

The Dragon bowed to the Crane and vowed to guard her teachings. In return, she placed her beak upon his brow and granted him serenity—the gift of sight beyond wrath. From that day forward, the two became one in purpose.

Together, they brought harmony to Heaven and Earth. The Dragon shaped the seasons with his breath, while the Crane guided their rhythm with her dance. The Dragon carried the sun across the sky, while the Crane drew down the moon. Their love, though never spoken, was eternal—a devotion that became the foundation of all balance as we know it.

It is said that their union birthed the first emperors—mortals touched by Heaven’s grace—who ruled not by power alone but by the combined harmony of strength and wisdom. The Dragon gave them sovereignty, and the Crane gave them the virtue to rule. From their union, the Tianlong Empire was born.

The priests of Tianlong teach that the Dragon represents strength, justice, and divine authority, while the Crane embodies compassion, purity, and truth. Together, they symbolize the eternal balance between action and stillness, destruction and creation, and between masculine and feminine energies, Heaven and Earth.

To favor one over the other is to bring imbalance, and imbalance leads to ruin. Thus, the dynasty honors both: the Dragon through discipline and duty and the Crane through mercy and mindfulness.

The faithful also follow what they call the Five Rites:

1. Creation

— to build, to nurture, to bring forth life.

2. Destruction

— to burn away what no longer serves.

3. Silence

— to listen, to think, to understand.

4. Offering

— giving something of yourself without expecting anything in return.

5. Balance

— to walk between all these things and not lose your way.

Religious and Public Ceremonies
Rituals and ceremonies are often situational or depend on the time of year.

Public Spaces & Altars for Ceremonies

The ancestral temple is the most sacred “public” space — though restricted to the ruler and nobility, its symbolism affected the whole realm. Even though commoners couldn’t enter, the ceremony’s effects were “public” — the entire realm’s harmony was renewed through it.

Royal processions, festivals, and proclamations were performed in broad open spaces — city squares, great avenues, or marketplaces. These were times when the ruler appeared “to the people” — displaying benevolence, conferring amnesties, or celebrating victories.

All members are encouraged to maintain Personal Altars or to create Public, Community Altars. Villagers gathered to pray for a bountiful harvest, fertility, and communal well-being. They embodied harmony between Heaven, Earth, and the people.

Seasonal Ceremonies

Spring Ceremonies:
—Drafting of Beauties:

Candidates, often from noble families, were evaluated based on their virtues and physical condition and selected to enter the Imperial Harem. Those chosen to become empresses and higher-ranked consorts had a proper marriage ceremony; a woman entering the harem as a concubine did not.

— Emperor's Birthday & Fertility Blessing:

A festival is held to honor the Emperor and his lineage. The dynast takes part in activities such as discussing sutras, creating dedicated art, and staging elaborate birthday celebrations and gifts to honor her. At the same time, couples can come forward and seek breeding approval for the next year; afterwards, the couple will be assigned to a physician to ensure the healthiest dynasty cubs.

Summer Ceremonies:
— Coming-of-Age Rites:

Young wolves approaching one year of age dress formally during a ceremony. After an elder places the symbolic item on their shoulder, they complete ritual bows, and the adult confers an adult name and announces their assigned office. Young women are formally introduced to society. This is accompanied by strange hazing tactics,such as pulling out a tooth, or (more commonly) dyeing one's teeth.

— Worship of the Ancestors:

Ancestors' spirits still exist and can bless or bring disasters. During this solemn gathering, everyone worships in the hope that their ancestors will bless them for a better life. One could communicate with heaven through offerings and rituals, thereby creating a strong connection between the present and the past, especially within family lines.

Autumn Ceremonies:
—Matchmaking Ceremony:

This is the second-largest event of the year, after the Emperor's birthday. Young women of the court train all year for this event. They begin meeting with the Empress after their Coming of Age ceremony, and continue through their second birthday when they enter proper breeding age. During the ceremony, the eligible women are dressed as opulently as possible, and their marriage pairing is announced before the entire dynasty. The marriage is then held later on, privately, amongst the married families and the magistrate of ceremonies.

— Autumn Festival & Grand Hunt:

Held several weeks after the Matchmaking Ceremony, when the moon is at its biggest, as a way to celebrate prosperity. It is a day of repose: At dawn, solemn rites and offerings were performed to give thanks for abundance; by midday, the court departed to the open plains for the ceremonial hunt. Those who stay back are entertained by spoken poetry and song.

Winter Ceremonies:
— Lunar New Year:

The Royal Family hosts a large celebration full of food, fermented drink, and entertainment. Earlier in the year, the Empress chose a married couple to perform the Dragon's Dance — a heartbreaking rendition of the love between the Crystal Dragon and the Crane. Privately, wolves engage in housecleaning, sprinkling herbs for good luck, staying up all night, and telling stories. Gifts are given copiously, especially in the color red.

— Worship of the Heavens:

On the day of the winter solstice, the Emperor himself worships the heavens in front of an audience. He then offered sacrifices and prayed for a good harvest for his country the next year. During prosperous years, this is often accompanied by a feast.

As Needed Ceremonies

Auspicious Rites:

Tea Ceremonies & Banquets celebrate good events & serve to bless whatever event it is honoring. Three meats are served: the deer, the fish, and the boar. Here, there is an emphasis is on the reciprocity of etiquette rather than on dining. The guests of honor may drink to their heart's desire at banquets.

Inauspicious Rites:

Inauspicious ceremonies were carried out when sad things occurred, mainly funerals but also when disastrous events had befallen a family, or in the occurrance of natural disasters, military defeat, or rebellion. The activities mostly consisted of public offerings & sacrifice.

Rites of War:

Ceremonies were held to unify the state, consisting of: ceremonies for military review, declarations of war, the dispatch of armies, reports of victory & the presentation of booty and captives & triumphant returns.

Death Rites:
— Nobility:

Objects of the imperial household were considered to be court property, so when the nobility dies, treasures are returned for reassignment to another woman of similar status. Widows are expected to remain chaste after their spouse's death.

— Officers:

Funerals for soldier and officers were very formal. The fallen's peers guide the prepared& decorate body to the burying place and all in attendance participat in the burial. Then there's the presentation of condolences during a memorial ceremony.

Births:

Three Days after birth, the child receives various gifts expressing wishes for good health and prosperous life.

At Sixty Days After Birth, the child is given a name.

When the child reaches six months old, the Zhuazhou rite is performed where parents place various items in front of their child and observe which item the child picks up. This predict the child's future luck or destiny.

In a stretch of the tundra plains rests a large lake that extends for miles, so vast that it is nearly impossible to see the other side with the naked eye. Fishing is easy and plentiful here, with a slightly warmer median temperature making this a popular spot for many to find food and rest. However, one mustn’t grow too comfortable here, for the harsh counter to this easy living during the day is met with the harsh reality of its brutal frigid nights and cruel winds, with the latter cutting across the tundra like knives against minimal coverage.

Marriage, is seen as a beautiful union of souls, held in high regard within the circle. There are no restrictions on how many may join in a single union, as all forms of love are respected and cherished. As long as all involved give and receive respect, both to each other and to the earth, their union will be welcomed and honored within Druids Rise.

Gu sìorraidh is gu bràth - Forever and always
The toisiche or seuman will lead the ceremony, depending on who is available and the wishes of those being united. The circle will gather at the Guiding Stone, where the souls to be joined will speak words of union, affirming their commitment before the circle and the land. They will then offer a gift to nature, whether to the spirits of air, earth, water, or fire, the choice is theirs. From there, a celebration will follow in their honor, filled with dancing, singing, and feasting, as the circle comes together to welcome and bless their union.

Birth is held in the highest regard within the circle, as new life is brought forth into the world. It is seen as the ultimate honor to the cycle and rhythm of nature, a sacred reminder of the earth’s promise of renewal. Each life is cherished, held near and dear by the circle, and welcomed with reverence and joy.

The Fàilte - “FAAL-chuh” welcome
During birth, rituals and prayers are offered to the spirits, asking for a safe and gentle delivery for the mother. Songs are sung, food is prepared, and the circle waits patiently, holding space for new life to enter the world. After the birth, the circle ensures the new mother has all she needs, from nourishing meals to comforting company, should she desire it.
A few weeks after birth, a meeting is held at the Guiding Stone. There, each new member is formally introduced to the circle, their place within the community honored and lovingly affirmed.

In Character (IC) progression is the only way to gain power/status within Jakten
This is done to encourage bonds between pack members via threading together! It is also encouraged for any individuals to hold the status of a Tier 3 rank before attempting to hold a Tier 2 or 1 rank.

Breeding

Only those that have gained the Einvalds' acceptance can breed with the intent to give birth, as the goal is to ensure strong linages within the pack. If a pair of wolves wishes to breed, or if a single wolf wishes to gain the favor of the imperial family, they must meet with the Einvald and request their permission. Once given, the permission to breed is given for life unless otherwise agreed upon. However, at any time, the Einvald can revoke this privilege as they see fit.

— Pets are the sole responsibility of their owner/s and are expected to obey every command; As such, Pet Owners have the ability to disallow all others except The Einvald from using and/or abusing their Pet/s

Standing high and alone in the desert is a truly rare spectacle - an enormous pyramid of unknown origins. Attempting to reach its apex is an exhausting feat, especially in a land forever baked in the sun’s harsh light, so most typically only reach its peak at nightfall. Somewhere, hidden cleverly within its four imposing walls is an opening, perhaps where someone might live… but the entrance remains a mystery and a trade secret to those who can find it.
Inside Satriya, large rooms of hewn stone provide a honeycombing of activity, shrines, apartments, and throne rooms. The walls are painted pleasantly with accents provided by plant dyes, and an underground garden provides a heavy, pleasant scent of desert flowers throughout the palace. Time will tell how deep the great obelisk runs.

THE PRIESTHOOD

Pharaoh is divine. The priests carry out rites of blood and material so that their figurehead may contemplate Amun and Atum.

· Pharaoh is considered the Most High Priest, and takes forefront in any important rites
· Cleanliness is imperative. Regular bathing is required, along with rituals of cleansing on feast days and ceremonies
· The priesthood sings each morning before dawn to glorify Ra as He is reborn
· For priestesses, dancing, singing, and keening are part of worship
· Priests & priestesses take an authoritative hand in schooling the children of royals and nobility
· Priesthood is hereditary. Appointed by Pharaoh, the High Priest and/or Priestess can pass the role down to an heir of blood or choice
· New priests are called we'eb. They have little say in anything and are appointed as sem-priests, those holy ones who prepare a body for embalming. With longevity, a sem-priest might graduate to a priest or priestess of Ka, one who sings the chants and the hymns. Astronomers, astrologers, magicians, and those claiming to perform the dark heka of sorcery or necromancy are several of the paths a trained priest may take

THE NOBILITY

The nobles are the epicenter of intrigue, drama, betrayal, treason, and wealth. Their marriages are often decided by Pharaoh and/or Queen, and particularly loyal subjects may have a chance to marry into the royal family.

· Gossip is the most powerful weapon a noble can wield, destroying or uplifting at will. The power of combined nobility can be enough to pressure the change of a dynasty.
· Nobles are judged upon their appearance and attitude
· Spending one's days in pursuits such as hunting, drinking, pleasures of the flesh, or military activity are encouraged
· A noble can be summoned at any time of day or night by royalty. Failure to arrive could result in social demotion
· Nobles may marry fellahin, but the most arrogant among them vie for a chance to marry even lesser royalty
· When a noble dies, unless they were also employed in a trade, their titles can revert to Pharaoh's whim. Viziers and royal physicians also fall under this category.
· Nobility may be appointed with agreement to the harem*. This gives a small chance of marrying Pharaoh as a Second Wife

military

THE MILITARY

The military is the physical backbone of Satriya, standing very close to Pharaoh and Queen.

· Officers of all ranks are expected to look to royalty for final say. They are not to question orders
· A rugged mien is needed for soldiering. Sparring, patrolling, fighting mock battles, and hard travel are all ways that soldiers might be trained in the desert
· The Jodai after consistent service may be called upon to become a royal officer. Refusal does not have a punishment
· A soldier follows a hierarchy. He may report to one above him. Complaints should be made to the Jodai.
· Soldiers can expect to enjoy some leisure time. They may also marry fellahin or nobility in a love match. In years of conflict or battle, a portion of any tribute belongs to them as well
· Devoted military may find themselves two choices: retreat to the smaller outposts outside Satriya, a force unto oneself, or choose to become part of the royal guard, assigned to the protection of divine ruler

THE ADVISORS

The vizier, also known as Wedjat, has the pulse of Satriya. No message, event, or word passes without address.

· The vizier knows what Pharaoh had for breakfast and where the Queen will walk that day. Working with the higher-ranked officers and the Chief Steward of Servants, the vizier ensures each day goes well
· Expected at most ceremonies and all royal, the vizier has the ear of royalty. In their heart there might exist a bias, but never should this be shown
· Called away to travel, on journeys of state, and to royal births, the vizier’s life is rarely their own. They must be as available as any other servant, indeed more often
· The Wedjat may accomplish a network of knowledge through spying or spies
· Being so close to the royal family means that the vizier is the gate through which all nobility passes. Ingratiating oneself with this office is important. If marriage is desired, a member of the royals will arrange it
· In the case of poisoning, the vizier may be detained for questioning by the Jodai, exempt only by a royal word. To protect against any such event, the vizier is given the proverbial keys to all chambers and can petition to replace guards in the most sacred areas.
· The Wedjat is expected to be seen as pious at least in ritual regards. Marriage is permitted with fellahin though encouraged with nobility
· Should Pharaoh die with no heir or too young an heir, the vizier will become Highest Advisor to both the young ruler and the Dowager. In times of extreme duress, the Dowager may seek to legitimize the vizier through a royal marriage.

THE PHYSICIANS

The physicians, or sesh (both plural/singular use) of Satriya are greatly important. They tend both the servant and royalty with the same care and skill. A High Physician, one who is very well-trained, may be called upon to live closer to one court or another.

· A physician may have two apprentices at once. Specialties include midwifery, wisdom of poison, knowledge of herbal medicine, and ability to procure rare plants when needed
· Skilled sesh expect more responsibility, appointed to the harem or even royal births
· Waiting upon Pharaoh is understanding that this intimacy is not permitted to all. A physician should keep their own counsel. Gossip over Pharaoh's state may have large repercussions for the palace at large
· Priests and physicians can expect to have constant overlap, as treatment includes both medicine and prayers
· Sesh may marry fellahin or up into nobility if it is agreed, though sometimes a physician without a family is preferred, being able to be called upon at any time
· In the case of poisoning, the physician may be detained for questioning by the Jodai.
· Sesh are expected to be humble and diligent, devoted to their work and to their own prayers

THE SERVANTHOOD

The fellahin of Satriya perform all the difficult and sometimes unpleasant tasks inside and outside the palace. Their position is chosen, not forced, and it is lifelong.

· Fellahin are skilled laborers who may have a background of ignorance or crudity. Those outside the culture are also kept as servants and may speak their own tongue, provided they learn Egyptian
· A servant might also work up from the most humble dung-cleaner to become the personal body servant of even royalty. They are allowed to marry one another with little interference, and may be chosen to become nobles through marriage as well. On occasion, a servant might catch the eye of Pharaoh.
· Silence, a listening ear, and humility are highly demanded. Fellahin report to the Hebsut, Chief Steward of Servants. In the absence of a Hebsut, the next highest role in the hierarchy may be called as decider
· Fellahin dance, sing, and serve at festivals and gatherings. Nobles, soldiers, and royalty alike may wish to enjoy the company of fellahin who catch their eye, but this must be agreed upon
· At times, private messages must be carried. The servant is expected in these moments to act as scribe, memorizing the message and carrying it who must hear. They risk themselves as spies and treasoners if the situation is dire
· In the case of poisoning, the servant(s) may be detained for questioning by the Jodai.
· Fellahin are expected to be humble and diligent, devoted to their work and to their own prayers. They are to assist priests and physicians when necessary, and ensure that soldiers are fed. The most skilled midwives often come from among fellahin.

THE GODHOOD

Divine Iterations of Gods Upon Earth, all heads must bow and all backs must bend before the Royal Family. Amun has chosen Pharaoh and Queen as His Gilded Voice.

· It is a lifelong appointment. Royals are expected at every shrine, every feast day, every ceremony, and every minor rite. It is they who call the days and they who are risen by hymns. The entire court is to anticipate their wants. They are to be approached with great aplomb, and almost never by low or new servants.
· The practice of intermarriage between members of the royal family is their divine creed, to preserve a fiercely defended lineage dating back through several pharaonic names
· Respect for those beneath them must be observed, firmness rather than cruelty. Cruelty, however, remains a whim. Provoking it is not advisable.
· Pharaoh has sovereign judgement over all military movements. It must be Pharaoh who makes the great sacrifices at ceremonies as well. These things are related by the bloodshed that the Mighty Bull must judge as necessary for the kingdom.
· Nobility are most likely to become companions and trusted friends of the royal family. Ingratiating oneself through becoming a Royal Nurse or joining Pharaoh's hunting-court is recommended. Praise and worship that is not forced will be treasured, and gifts of rare yet consistent items will be remembered.
· Pharaoh may marry two lesser wives. It is recommended that these be of political requirement. Neither will approach the Queen nor the Queen's power, who becomes Empress upon Pharaoh's second marriage and retains not only her first titles, but is Blessed of Hathor by the High Priest/ess in a ceremony.
· In the event that Pharaoh should die in war or of disease and has appointed no heir, the Queen shall become Dowager Empress and choose the successor. If they are still young, it is the Dowager and the ministers who shall steer the country until the heir has come to adulthood
· In the event that the Queen should die in war, in childbirth, or of disease, Pharaoh must choose to continue or to step down for the first daughter.
· The Crown Prince must take a year's tour with the military and on expedition, to see more than the land they will inherit.
· In the case of many princes/sses with equal claim to the Horus Throne, Pharaoh must be pressured to appoint a successor. Failure to do so must then result in the nobility forming their own factions of support among the heirs.

COURT SYSTEM

Satriyans have the opportunity to divide themselves between two courts: that of Pharaoh and that of the Queen. Each court may have its own servants, priest or priestess(es), guards, vizier, nobles, and officials. These individuals have a second loyalty to protecting the privacy of their chosen court. Spies may be a future option for further intrigue between courts.
Currying favor with the royals is the swiftest way to move up in the ranks. Each skillset – servant, noble, military, official – has its own High Rank, to which all others beneath would be answerable to a sort of internal leadership. Keep in mind that regardless of court, an inhabitant of the palace is still subject to Pharaoh’s final say.

TRADE

Trade is key to the success of wealth-gathering for Satriya. Historically, precious stones, minerals, pelts, spices, meats, feathers, ‘liquors' derived from fruit, flower, or fermentation, fresh flora, plant dyes, and so on and so forth.
Especially prized in the palace are things not found in the desert, and these items will be sure to remind a noble or royal who brought it to their attention. Trade is the first thing sought when making alliances, with an eye to preserve routes between Satriya and its new ally.

It is the rekindled heart of an ancient civilization once thought extinct and the foundation of no more than fairy tales - but within Mythris, the beliefs and practices have been revived in the flesh-and-blood descendants of ancient Avon and those they hold dear.

More found-family unit than oligarchy, Avon is a group of like-minded individuals amassed from blood and covenant alike who foster an appreciation of nature and the supernatural deities who support it. Fae and Gaelic gods are revered for their status and power - both are something equally loved and to be feared, though the wolves of Avon prefer to surpass the fear and embrace a goodwill toward nature in respect of the powers that be.

"Wildflower Run"

Wildflowers proliferate in this wide expanse of territory near the lower-middle portion of Blushed Meadows, manifesting in vibrant colors all across the board. Prey are drawn to this area for its coverage and food offerings, making it valuable for hunting.

Sometimes, yellow wild roses crop up amidst the wildflowers.

"Boann's Rill"

Boann's Rill is named for the river guardian Boann and pivots from the cold channels of the north, flowing westward through Blushed Meadows.

Though the water appears shallow, it is treacherously deep and its tides are quick, certain to drag unsuspecting and inexperienced swimmers under in a hurry. The river eventually narrows and calms before emptying into Dana's Sanctuary. As of May 2025, the Rill is not safe to submerge in or drink from.

"The Shallows"

A floodplain from Sterling River ambles across the western portion of Blushed Meadows, creating fresh water shallows for drinking and general purposes.

Not steep enough to swim in, the shallows are a popular location for teaching young to navigate water or cool off in the heat of summer without risk of drowning.

"Heart of Avon"

In the center of the Meadows is a cluster of trees whose ancient root matrix cling to rockwork and hold it in place. Believed the be the very heartbeat of the lands, this serves as the central meeting location for the Kingdom of Avon.

The boulders rise above the ground level in a gradual incline, producing a stage of sorts for meetings. The structure is easy to ascend with step-like outcrops and sturdy roots to find purchase on

"Brigid's Embrace"

Placed close to the Heart of Avon, Brigid's Embrace is reserved for the birthing of young and the storage of herbs. The den itself is larger than it appears, the soil worked away by ancient roots and easy to mold to a prospective parent's needs.

It is believed those born in this hollow will be looked over and protected by the goddess of childbirth, Brigid.

"Communal Densite"

A stone's throw from the Heart of Avon and Brigid's Embrace, the communal densite is accessed through a yawning entrance surrounded by dense and protective roots. Within, a vast denning area has been carved out by previous tenants and the Kingdom itself, creating ample and comfortable space for the members of the pack. Additional, more private, 'rooms' may be created.

"Cavern Entrance"

Discovered in the first spring of Avon's residence within Blushed Meadows, this cave leads into the tunnel system below and is the only known entrance. During spring and summer, wild yellow roses will grow around its maw.

The entrance is well-hidden by the rocks and vegetation surrounding it, making it an easy-kept secret if one so chooses.

"Kingdom Commons"

Within the belly of the caverns, what once was is reduced to glimmers. Ruins and remains that suggest a human-adjacent kingdom once existed within the cave are evidenced in broken columns, reclaimed stonework, and other pieces of long-forgotten history.

This is an optional denning area for those who wish to use it, but may be difficult for very young children to traverse.

"Dana's Sanctuary"

The most holy of the Kingdom's locales, Dana's Sanctuary is named for the mother of goddesses and is a place where no violence or discourse may exist.

Dotted along the caverns walls, spears and clusters of natural quartz create a dazzling display of prisms when the light is right, but do take care - their edges are as dangerous as they are brilliant.

From above, a wide chasm provides light and fresh water from Boann's Rill access to the cave. This, and the channel leading in from the cave system, are the only ways into the Sanctuary, but a fall from above would certainly be fatal.

The Apostles do the majority of their work here, communing with the deities and fae alike, though some festivals and rites may also take place here beneath the blessing of the aforementioned bodies.

"Fae Stone"

A peculiar stone sits near the northern border between the Blushed Meadows and Frostfang Vale. Strange and imperceptible markings are driven into its surface and it is often overcome with moss and other vegetation.

It is believed to be of the fae's making and offerings may be left here, often in the form of harvested fruit, bones, and other baubles the fae may like. Leaving poor offerings are believed to inspire their ire.

"The Morrigan's Eye"

Just north of the Garden of Sidhe is The Morrigan's Eye. This hag stone is believed to permit the viewer to see beyond the veil and discern the presence of fae.

This structure serves as the central location of Samhain celebrations for its closeness to the deceased.

"Garden of Sidhe"

Just at the border of Blushed Meadows and Royal Wisterian Woodlands lies the Garden of Sidhe. Outfitted with a carpet of blue bells, it is believed the fae linger in this garden.

A memorial space rests in its center, where those left behind in the world of the living may visit and reflect upon their lost loved ones. This area is kept tidy and clear of debris as an act of respect and service - dishonoring the garden is very much frowned upon.

"Veilkeep"

While a memorial space exists within the Garden of Sidhe, a small and quiet area south of it is reserved for the actual burials.
The bodies of the fallen are laid to rest here, and during the warmer months, fragrant wildflowers and butterflies frequent the area to keep the spirits company.

Veilkeep is less traveled, but that is intentional; it is viewed as disrespectful to walk upon the grounds where the dead slumber.

"Aine's Whisper"

A great many weeping beech trees create an area of respite at the borders of Howling River, Royal Wisterian Woodlands, and Blushed Meadows. Their branches, heavy with blooms during the warm months, sway with the winds and rustle in a calming melody.

There are two trees settled centrally that are of greater age. At one time, there was a third tree, but it has long fallen. Between itself and one of its standing brethren are a limb from each, which in some angles, take on the shape of a rough heart.

Beltane celebrations take place here, as it is believed Aine's influence is alive and well within its berth.

"Fateweaver Field"

The site of Mabon's festivities, Fateweaver Field is settled in the northern reaches of the territory, just before steep inclines lead into Frostfang Vale.

With its flat terrain, a glorious view of the sky is permitted without obstruction, day or night. Bright pink wildflowers grow here, dappling the blushed grasses.

"Avon Garden"

Settled just outside the central cluster of trees is the Kingdom's garden, which is comprised of various herbs and plant life needed and utilized by the group.

The garden is largely maintained by the Apotheca, but others are welcome to lend a paw in its care.

R u l e s

✿ Prospective members must meet the Matriarch before approval.

✿ While members are welcome to pursue personal business outside of the pack, they are expected to let someone know where they are going. There is no time limit on excursions. Guests may move freely, even while receiving medical attention from Avon.

✿ Those who are in need of assistance cannot be turned away, especially any who are injured or in need of protection.

✿ Attacking known fae or otherwise harming them is strictly forbidden and is considered an affront to nature.

✿ Violence is a matter of last resort. It should not be the first tool in one's arsenal except in situations where harm may befall one of Avon's own.

✿ All members should do their best to contribute to the Kingdom's overall wellbeing, even if it entails gardenwork, fetching items for others, or generally helping in daily chores.

✿ Members can perform tasks outside of their specialization, provided they do no harm.

✿ The Matriarch's word carries the highest weight, but all who bear leadership roles (Matriarch-in-waiting, High Regent, Diviner, High Warden) may command those beneath them and their instruction begs respect.

✿ Children younger than 6 months of age are to be defended at all costs. They should remain within the more heavily protected areas of the Meadows unless shadowing one or more adults.

P u n i s h m e n t s

Punishment is not doled out lightly, but it is also something that does not happen often. As Avon strives to operate largely as an extended familial unit, there is emphasis on simply treating everyone with respect and grace.

However, if it must be done, it often takes the following forms, in no particular order:

✿ Cache management (clearing out spoiled carcasses, etc)

Avon Culture

Before Mythris and a world ago, fae took on many forms but were seldom seen by man. They were long thought to have gone extinct, if they had ever existed to begin with, due to the lack of presence they held. It was not always this way, however, as they had once milled about mortalkind, particularly in the now-dead civilization of Avon. As fae protected nature, they were sometimes hunted by man for their prowess or the land they defended.

Avon served as an easement between fae and man, a place where both could freely receive the other without threat of harm. It was through this kingdom that the haphazard kinship between the two parties would begin to mend, both creating concessions for the other through the careful art of negotiation and good-faith practices.

For many years, Avon thrived as a sort utopia, but its success was the bedrock of jealousy for an opposing nation. Avon would eventually fall to Cathair na Déithe (Déithe) and, in its dying breath, all memory of it would fade. Déithe erased the kingdom from all records, cleaving every ounce of magic from its bones and leaving its shell to crumble as ruins far beneath the ground where no one would ever find it.

What stories remained of Avon were spun as folktales, the sort of stories told to children at bedtime. There are few who know the truth of Avon, and they now inhabit Mythris.

The rightful heirs of Avon have now arrived in Myhris: the Goldencourtes. Though fae blood ran in their veins in the world before, they are but mortal wolves now.

They bring with them their hopes to revitalize and perpetuate the community and beliefs that were woven into their previous lives.

Avon originally found its way into Mythris by the group Avon Odyssey in Golden Glade, but strife would send them across Mythris to Blushed Meadows. It is here that the group would settle and begin to build their home anew. Though its ranks underwent changes, new life was breathed into the group in the winter of Year Two after the group's matriarch Fable discovered more of her family had wound up within Mythris.

Now, Avon serves as a sanctuary for those in need and outliers, those who seek a place without judgement. The group would officially be founded on May 31, 2025 with , , , , , , , , , and serving as founders.

Most of the rites and activities woven into Avon find source material from Morrigan's Hand, a coven from the same universe that the Goldencourtes hail from. As a part of their practices, Avon welcomes all who are in need of shelter or assistance; no one is turned away lest they promise trouble, and there is no expectation for compensation. Through empathy and an impassioned desire to leave the world better than they found it, the members of Avon are a port in the storm for those who find themselves battered by the waves of discourse. As such, violence should be utilized only as a last resort and the members of the group are largely, if not totally, well-meaning individuals.

The pack practices regular festivals, namely for solstices, and it is encouraged to frequently leave offerings to the various deities and fae who are believed to bless their group.

Samhain • Oct. 31

The beginning of the year for those in Avon, and arguably the most sacred of days. The festivities begin as the sun sets and do not end until first light. It is thought this day allows spirits to linger among the living, giving survivors an opportunity to "speak" with their lost loved ones. Diviners and Clerics bless the festival grounds ahead of the celebration.

✿ Feasts and consumption of fermented fruit, substances take place during this day.

✿ Attendees are expected to spruce themselves up in some way - flowers, vines, bones, and other decorations are encouraged.

✿ Altars will be created to honor The Morrigan and those who are deceased. Individuals may begin their own, too. It is common to leave baubles, food, and other things the deceased or The Morrigan may like at the altars, as it is thought the spirits can pull them into their world due to the weakened veil.

✿ Dancing and revelry are common activities.

✿ Those who are born (or conceived) on this day are thought to possess great powers.

✿ Dandelions can be blown to honor the dead.

✿ The festival ends at first light with a group song.

Yule • Dec. 21

The darkest day of the year and a more somber occasion, Yule is a less "organized" festival for the group and is a day of reflection. There are no group celebrations on this day and all may honor the day as they please.

✿ Exchanging gifts and stories are favorite pastimes for this day.

✿ Inviting family members and friends for dinner are often extended.

✿ Reflecting on the past seasons and preparing for the coming spring.

✿ If, for whatever reason, fire is present, burning pine branches is thought to have a cleansing effect for the spirit.

Ostara • March 20

Celebration of spring and thought to be a day of great fertility for those trying to begin a family.

✿ Nature walks, garden work and foraging are popular activities.

✿ A time to replenish stores, where possible.

✿ Cleaning of communal areas, removal of debris, etc.

✿ A meeting should be held at midday, when the sun is at its highest, to discuss plans for the coming season and to recount blessings received during the winter.

A more romantic-leaning celebration, Beltane is forged to celebrate Aine. While it can set the scene for peers to meet and love matches to be made, it remains a time of embracing the warmer months of late spring and welcoming summer.

✿ Unions are thought to be blessed by Aine on this day. Those who step up to be wed on Beltane have a cord of daisies rested around their shoulders as part of the ceremony.

✿ Celebration activities include dancing during golden hour, eating fermented fruit (and imbibing on substances), games, exchanging of flowers.

✿ Daisies are a particular favorite for the festival and can be worn as flower crowns or nestled into fur.

Lughnasadh • August 1

Historically a day to secure marriages, it has undergone some adjustments in the land of Mythris. It now signifies a day of merriment and indulging in the summer's waning influence - the final vestiges of "play" before the harvest season is upon them.

✿ Swimming and fishing are popular on this day, especially as a competition between two individuals or more.

✿ Feats of strength, agility, and other physical skills via spars are encouraged.

✿ All are expected to bring some sort of food offering to the gathering, including foraged foodstuffs, prey, vegetation, or fermented fruits.

✿ A meeting is held at final light for a group howl to serve as a show of gratitude for the faes' blessings through the fruitful season.

Mabon • September 22

After working hard during the harvest season, Mabon aims to be a reward and a conduit for bonding with the group and families as a whole. It is a more warm and fuzzy sort of gathering, but is an all-day event in and of itself.

✿ The day starts off with a group hunt before first light. Those invited to the hunt do not have to be part of Avon. The larger the prey, the more blessings there are thought to be in store for them.

✿ Stargazing, cloud watching, and general relaxation are popular on this day - particularly with one's mate or families.

✿ Sparring is welcome on this day.

✿ Those who do not attend the hunt are expected to prepare other amenities in wait for the hunting party to return.

✿ Giving a yellow rose to someone is seen as a testament of affection, and they are your "chosen" suitor.

✿ The festival ends with a group howl after the sun goes down, but the attendees sleep outside of dens and beneath the stars.

Union Rituals

Most union or wedding rituals are entirely up to the two committing to one another, but traditions from Talahm include pawfasting - previously handfasting - in Mythris. The prospective pair will have one paw each bound by a cord of daisies or other flowers/plants. The night before a union, the two (or more) to be bound together bathe in the waters of Dana's Sanctuary when the moon rises over the portal at the top.

Fae Offerings

Offerings for fae take the form of shiny baubles, herbs, fruit, bones, and woven grasses. They are typically left around the borders and in places where blessings are most needed. Placing a bundle of flowers outside one's den is thought to promote the fae's favor for its inhabitants. If a flower goes missing, it means that is the fae's favorite.

Guest Policy

Guests are treated as welcome parties. They should be attended to the best of the kingdom's ability, so long as they cause no trouble.

Religious Observances

Religion has no singular school of thought among Avon. They are tolerant of others' beliefs - or lack thereof - and do not judge others based upon them.

Foraging

Herbs, flowers, and plants are not picked to the detriment of nature. They collect as much as one needs, but leave some for the host colony to replenish - working with nature rather than draining it.

Rites of Advancement

✿ On their first birthday, all tender-roots are asked for their preferred field. They are then assigned a mentor during a short ceremony and their training begins. The Rite of Fates entails the Diviner applying a pawprint to the tender-root's chest with nature-made paints and fireflies (for fluorescing.) This gesture is symbolic of remembering what is within one's heart as they embark on their life as an adult.

✿ The Rite of The Morrigan requires an acolyte to bond with a crow or raven and uncover three signs of The Morrigan, which they must decipher and reveal to the present Diviner.

✿ Prospective Wardens must complete the Rite of Macha to proceed. The Rite of Macha requires the trainee to take down the lead stag of a deer herd and present the antlers to the Diviner. They may bring one other trainee with them, but only one may progress with a single hunt.

✿ When an Apotheca's apprentice has trained for at least 6 months, they may take the Rite of Brigid at their mentor's discretion. They will be required to bring their mentor the herbs to treat a hypothetical ailment with only the symptoms explained, and then reveal their own diagnosis and how to apply the herbs they prescribe.

A single-member role that leads the group and makes final decisions.

Matriarch-in-waiting

The chosen heir to lead Avon in the event the current matriarch dies or otherwise gives up her rank. They will learn beneath the matriarch and become apprised of all matters pertaining to the pack. A single member occupies this rank, typically.

High Regent

Second-in-command, assumes authority in the absence of the Matriarch. This role can be any gender identity and only one may hold it.

Apostles

Those who tend to the fae and/or gods. The main goddess observed by the pack heralds from the days of the Hand - The Morrigan - but others are also observed on a case-by-case basis. Ascending the ranks involves experience and rites.

✿ Diviner
Highest rank, often leads spiritual ceremonies, ordains pairings etc.

✿ Cleric
General rank, flows beneath Diviner.

✿ Acolyte
Novice rank.

Acolytes are assigned a mentor for the duration of their training and are eligible to become a cleric after a minimum of six months of training. Their tasks, until such a time, pertain to learning about the gods, fae, and rites. In order to become a cleric, they must pass the Rite of The Morrigan.

The Diviner is usually handed down to the eldest in the ranks, or one who is well-trained. As familiarity with the various rites is required, no one below three years of age is permitted to become the diviner.

Fae

Individuals who claim or are believed to be of fae descent (Non-wolves who are able to speak). Highly revered and respected by the kingdom. Unlimited number of members may have this role.

Protectors

This role is devoted to the protection of the pack and filling of caches. It is a ranked role and experience and rites will feed into advancement. The ranks are as follows:

✿ High Warden
Highest rank, only one. They lead any battle-centric initiatives and report directly to the Matriarch.

✿ Warden
Multi-character and general rank for warriors/protectors.

✿ Trainee
Novice rank, will be assigned to a mentor for training.

The green and unproven among the protectors are the trainees, and they will train with their mentor for at least six months before being eligible for induction as a warden, though it may often take longer due to the demands of the field.

Trainees may patrol with other trainees (but not alone). A warden or the High Warden should be summoned in cases of conflict with other packs. Attacking others unbidden may result in trainees being removed from the role.

The role of High Warden is typically chosen through a series of spars. All who wish to assume the title must prove their mettle in order to take the mantle. Current High Wardens may avoid sparring to determine their replacement by recommending their choice to the Matriarch and receiving backing from all current wardens.

Courier

This role is dedicated to communication and relations with outside packs. When not carrying messages or acting on missives from the Matriarch, they more or less fill in the gaps elsewhere within the pack. Multiple members may assume this role.

Apotheca

This role is for those who prefer to soothe wounds of both heart and flesh. There are only two ranks within: Apotheca (trained healers) and Apprentices (untrained or unproven healers). Apprentices may not practice healing without their mentor, or a full-fledged apotheca, present

Those who undertake training as an Apotheca must be at least one year of age and are then assigned a mentor during the Rite of Fates ceremony. Apprentices who are deemed to be suitable Apotheca must fulfill the following criteria:
✿ Trained for 6 months with a mentor

✿ Complete the Rite of Brigid

✿ Receive recommendation from their mentor

Hearth-keeper

Role dedicated to pupsitting, caretaking, general cog in the wheel of Avon, but very valued. Warmth and empathy are valuable here. Unlimited number of members may occupy this role.

Sommelier

Members who choose the path of the sommelier are responsible for the curation and maintenance of fermented fruits and berries for the kingdom's uses. The alcoholic fruits are used in day-to-day life and also during festivals. There may be more than one character in this role, and they are expected to tend to general pack duties.

Tender-root

Children, regardless of who their parents are, become tender-roots. They remain this rank until one year, but may entertain various trades before then for experience/learning their preferences.

Reborn after the god's retrieval of their previous Queen, Skjoldrheim is a band of folks who have been to hell and back.

Once looking to praise the ancient Norse gods, a new branch of the heavens has arisen in their ranks - the Greeks - and tribute to both religions has begun. Many a mortal has been born with memories of a foreign land, but so too have many gods been brought down to this realm of man.

Settled in the north on the isle of Storm Reach, new wonders have been discovered underneath the cold snows of winter as they begin to melt away with the spring sun. A fallen fortress and a cave system of once-built human ruins in the mountains have been uncovered.

Seeking to connect once more with their lost ties, Skjoldrheim has transformed from a once hardy bunch into one of both superstition and belief. They wish to embrace different cultures, while staying true to their norse ways.

4.1.2025 — Dawnbreak welcomes the birth of and 's first litter! Welcome to the world , , , , , , and !

3.31.2025 — Recently, the air has been ... strange. The snow seems tinted purple, and many wolves within Dawnbreak are reporting experiences with a strange "Dream Visitor"... has recently called upon the members of Dawnbreak to gather to discuss the strange happenings that have been spreading through Mythris. Members with any information on the recent strange phenomena are encouraged to report to their pillars!

1.14.2025 — In an unfortunate and sudden twist of fate, was found dead by , drowned in the ice-cold waters of Winterscar. Despite an incredible effort by the pack, his body was lost to the depths of the frigid lake. What a sombering, traumatic loss for all of Dawnbreak to lose one of their beloved elders as well as a founding pillar of the pack. Rest in peace, Genghis.

In the aftermath of his death, the pack was called upon to vote to fill the position that Genghis once held. In an extremely close vote, has been voted to be the next Pillar of Courage! Congratulations to Nóttin, despite the unfortunate circumstances of his inauguration.

9.18.2024 — During the pack's first meeting to grant official roles for their members, unexpectedly lashed out toward , and , accusing them of potentially abusing power as the first self-appointed figureheads. Despite others rising to their defense and a reminder that tenure was finite, and the position offered no real authority, the tiger continued his verbal onslaught as tensions rose.

Aurelia called for a fair vote among those present to allow Kuhn's accusations to be satisfied, if true. The three figureheads were willing to step down if that is what the majority wished, but before the pack's first vote could even be exercised and prove their sincerity, the cat left with a few parting words of vitriol toward his once-family, leaving them all stunned and bewildered as to where his fury had truly originated.

9.16.2024 During a lone hunt, is suddenly attacked by a raging bear. Luckily had thought to trail him, and she quickly leapt to his defense; and also, hearing the commotion from afar, joined in the fray as fast as their paws could carry them.

Although they were able to successfully defend themselves from the beast, they each sustained moderate to severe injuries, requiring 's healing prowess once they had made it back home.

07.30.2024 — Trouble at the border comes in the form of family. has come to collect his brother-in-law, while inciting 's ire.

7.23.2024 — A wonderful birthday party for the ladies of Dawnbreak was thrown by none other than , with the help of and ! The celebration has proven to be a time of reprieve and relaxation after an onslaught of continued trauma, fires, and losses.

HOT GIRL SUMMER — The fires have left many of the members of Dawnbreak, their leadership especially, battered and burned! thankfully narrowly escaped the flames with the help of Avon's . , too was able to escape with his life after a frightful encounter, thanks to and . They are now laid up in the recovery bay, healing thanks to the fine work of Dawnbreak's burgeoning healer, . There was also the unfortunate news of the passing of a brother — , who was tragically lost to the flames.

Three elected figureheads are chosen to preside over the three tiers - Power, Wisdom, and Courage - and are tasked specifically with ensuring the wellbeing and betterment of the pack from these positions of guidance.

Points of contention will always result in a call for a vote from the Ranked members of the pack; however, if the query is isolated and only relevant to a specific tier, then only the members of that tier will vote toward its resolution.

If any vote surrounding an issue comes to a draw, that is when the elected figurehead (or all three if it's a pack-wide debate) will step in to help break the tie.

While new figureheads may implement their own strategies and improvements for the general wellbeing of their elected tier, the overall message, decorum, and spirit of the pack and its integrity must be maintained.

Twice a year, Ranked members of the pack will be asked to participate in a vote to elect new candidates for each of the three pillars. Current and previous leaders may be re-elected in the event that the majority vote is in favor of it; the vote is typically held over three full days, allowing room for debate, questioning, and assessing a candidate's suitability for the role.

The current leader of an unrelated pillar may cast their vote for either of the two they do not preside over, unless they would like to vote for one of their competitors.

If a vote comes to a draw in spite of this, the current leader of the pillar in question may cast a vote, but not for themselves.

Any candidate putting themselves forward may not vote for themselves.

The voting system and code of conduct are concrete, and any attempts to rescind one of these cornerstones of democracy that Dawnbreak has been founded upon can expect swift retaliation.

Only members who have achieved rank within the pack may have the privilege of a vote. To earn this right, a member must demonstrate a sincere desire to ensure the safety of the pack, a sense of ownership in their role toward its prosperity, an eagerness to aid, and overall upstanding conduct.

While it is not necessarily difficult for a member to earn their first rank, it is important to maintain Dawnbreak's integrity and safety by ensuring a meaningful foundation for its voters.

1.— Mutual respect and ensuing consequences are both expected and enforced. If you bite, expect to be bitten.

2.— If you do not help contribute, you do not eat (unless otherwise incapacitated and/or suffering an ailment). Continued demonstrations of negligence will result in demotion.

3.— Coercion and blackmail, especially when utilized to secure a vote through underhanded means, is strictly forbidden.

4.— If there is any point of contention, open a debate so that all members of your pillar and presiding figurehead may listen and take part in its resolution.

5.— If a debate becomes too heated, there will be a call for a break until tensions subside. If a member is unable to control their emotions and/or escalate the issue toward violence, they will be removed from the debate and another will be chosen to push the issue in their stead.

6.— Most importantly, Dawnbreak is built upon trust. Each member welcomed into the pack is to be treated as family - it is the closest bond. If a packmate is in danger, it is expected to lay down your life for them as you would a brother or sister.

Without trust, there is no respect; without respect, there is no bond.
