We're young and alive - narrator - 9/22/2025 ![]() Smoldering Wastes, Autumn Event![]() Warrior Skill Event: PromptThe heat is oppressive; why are you out in the desert in the middle of the day? You grow weary, and as you walk ... you see them. The virga clouds, reaching downward toward the sands below as if to touch them. As the sands and clouds swirl together in the heat of the desert, you see the strange blue figures now lined up before you. You cannot quite make out what sort of beasts they are, at least not on first glance. They mirror the shape of the wolf, and yet they are the size of a bear with indiscernible facial features. They line up, steady on the horizon, and you feel yourself grow tense. Do you need to protect yourself from these creatures? Or will you lead a fight? What will you do? RE: We're young and alive - Brynhild - 9/22/2025 ![]() Take me back to when laughter was endless, and my dreams were bigger than my fears.
3-3-3 OC SpeechEmotional Actions Thoughts Brynhild wasn't sure when she had gotten here. Why WAS she here, actually? She was in the Alpines last, venturing into a tunnel unknown to her and now, she stood in a place as hot as the summer back home, before Mythris. Her ears twitched lightly with every step, which was painful with the grains of hot sand and grass below foot. Her eyes narrowed against the wave of heat against her face, glancing upwards to the sky and staring at the clouds. Noticing the clouds, the wisps of white and faint colors, unnatural normally, she stared quietly, watching them reach for the sands below, her eyes staring. Was she hallucinating? No...She couldn't; she'd only been here for a few. One moment it was just clouds and sand; the next, figures lined up before her. Her nose twitched lightly, sniffing, trying to smell what they are. Blue wasn't natural, was it? No... Not here, at least, not in that shade, she hoped. Brynhild's teeth peeked from her lip, pacing slowly, trying to get a good look at these beasts; due to the heat, though, her breath was a heavy pant, one to try and cool herself. She hated this thick coat; why must she live in the cold? For now, she stood her ground, staring and bearing teeth at whatever stood before her. Prepared to fight or defend, flee or distract, if push came to shove, She'd shove right back. RE: We're young and alive - Nakhtmin - 9/22/2025 Skill - Warrior Nakhtmin did not cower. Not even in strange sands, with strange foes atop a ridgeline. He was a beast of the deshret; he had endured the raging moods of Set in all the god's favorite afflictions — and no other mortal, or spirit, or demon, could contend with the skymetal bones of Ra's defender, in the land of the Outsider's inheritance. With the protection of Set assured, what then was there to fear! Tossing the spears upon his head with a mighty bellow, Nakhtmin reared and stomped the ground, showing them all that he was strong and fierce and well-blooded in many past contests of will. Weariness faded as his heart clamoured for battle. Just the thing to wake him from this dreary march! Yes! He would shatter their line upon the hill! The painted warrior charged. RE: We're young and alive - Ezra - 9/25/2025 skill: warrior The plagues. The dream visitor. The floating island. The disapearances. The trickery. The games the gods played only seemed to enrage Ezra further. Hell, everything seemed to enrage Ezra further. His life here had only seemed to become one fucking shit show after another. Hardening him, fueling him, perhaps for a battle to end all battles - for Ragnorok. He had very quickly come to a place in his life where he simply waited to die. But he could not kill himself. He could not relent and allow his opponent to best him. It must be a mighty battle if he were to join his brethern in Valhalla. The heat was nothing like he had ever felt in his entire life. Even in those early times when his mother had led her pups through lands set on fire in the not so far distance. It was suffocating, weighing him down. The norseman could not bare it. And there, in the distance, clouds stretched out to the scorching sands and within them formed figures. Dark like ocean waters of the north. Wolves large like bears, with faces turned demonic. Was this Ragnorok? Had the battle begun? Ragnar and Elli had both battled with bears, came a thought. One which had Ezra charging forward for a fight without an ounce of further thought thereafter. RE: We're young and alive - Abaddon - 9/26/2025
Skill: Warrior ![]() The heat had called to him, pulled him. He didn't know why but something in him drove him to the wastes... He could see those strange clouds reaching towards the earth, stretching their fingers and hands down to touch the ground and tickle it with their wisps. Snorting through his nose the beast turned towards Draug then looked to Baal and snorted a grunt at him before the continued on. As they did he could see shapes forming in the distance, they were blue, and he raised an eyebrow in question. Sands and clouds swirled as they came closer and closer, became larger and larger. As they arrived on the scene another wolf stood ready for a challenge, the wolf he'd battled not long ago and another animal charging forward. Abaddon turned his head over his shoulder to look at his brothers with an evil smirk before turning back to stare at the bear sized blue wolves. He chuckled and rolled his shoulders before he threw himself to the fray and charged along behind the strange horned animal. RE: We're young and alive - Draugur - 9/27/2025 Skill: Warrior ![]() The new bond built with his brother felt strange — powerful, and yet ever so fragile. Abaddon was the gasoline to Draugur's internal flame, stirring him in a way that was so potent that it was nearly uncomfortable. But Draugur liked it. And the revenant would twist that prior distaste for his brother into fuel for feeling — for it felt far better than feeling nothing at all. But it was a bridge built on a faulty foundation. And it risked collapse ... ... but not today. The three traveled together, three sharks on the search for trouble ... filtering through the water for the scent of blood that would draw them in. And they would find it in the desert. They would find it in the way the strange clouds gathered before sinking toward the earth in a blue mist. They would find it in the form of massive monsters, monsters from nightmares, roaring at them and challenging them. And it wasn't just the three of them that had been summoned to this strange sight. There were others, too. Draugur would look toward his brothers, catching the smirk on Abaddon's lips as the bloodlust passed through those dual-toned eyes. Abaddon's lips curled, ears pulling backward atop his head as the thumping of his heart began to rattle with adrenaline in his chest. And they would charge, Draugur falling into step beside Abaddon as the swirl of sand and mist rose around them and their fangs curled toward the impossibly large beasts. RE: We're young and alive - Baal - 9/29/2025 Warrior Why was he out in the middle of the day indeed. The sun was hot on his unprotected fur, the mud he'd rolled in for sun protection had long since dried and flaked off, but something kept pulling at the trio of hellspawn. Pulling and pulling, his pale ears flicked in acknowledgement when he was snorted at, but his focus wasn't on his brothers..not entirely. He knew he needed to build a bond with them, his chances getting stolen from him time and time again, but god damn. His attention was torn between wanting to find shade and those weird ass clouds, the creatures below. And it was like his body moved on it's own, step in step with Draugur and Abaddon, the yearning for blood in his maw and teeth in his flesh that he's done so well to smother until now rushing forth in a roar of parted fangs. RE: We're young and alive - Taliba - 10/1/2025 Skill — Warrior
Ra's ascent is steadfast and unyielding. His heat licked like flames at those that stood beneath his light. Taliba knew the desert heat well, she had been raised in it. Ra's flames had lessened in their spread lately, and this heat did not share the same compulsion to submit to his gaze. Yet there is still something abnormal to this heat. A need to go on excursion that the medjay distrusted. On the horizon the half-ogre sees a swirl, Nut and Geb meet in a flurry of air and sand. As the dust settles, a line of blue creatures is drawn like a contingency of soldiers. Unnatural, aberrant, and faceless. Were the test of the gods not over for Satriya? Or perhaps this was simply one for those present. There are strangers on her side of the front. Notably, the young looking ones held the scent of Jakten. A gemsbok also stood against the strange beings. The medjay would not turn tail upon a potential threat to Pharaoh and Queen. The half-ogre drew her tongue across her lips, peeling them back to show in full the long teeth gifted to her. A loud bellow ripped through her throat as she surged forth to clash against the faceless entities. The charge is on, the blue misted beasts rally and make their way toward the group of creatures brave enough to fight them. You tear forward, pressing into the mist. It mixes with the sand, creating a stinging lash as you move closer. The pain increases as you near the beasts, and you can barely keep your eyes open long enough to continue your assault. Persist, the voice tells you, suddenly loud in your ears. They need to die to save this land. And you feel empowered to press forward. You feel encouraged with the rage to fight. Outcome — You may now powerplay a fight with these creatures, working together to ensure their demise. When you destroy them, their bodies return to sand. RE: We're young and alive - Nakhtmin - 10/2/2025 Skill - Warrior The voice of Set? Of Ra? Nakhtmin needed no further bidding, if the land required saving, his brawn would carry the day! He had dueled oryx and felt the like sting of kinly sabers. He had slain lions with claws like kopesh. He had felt the lash of a sandstorm before! It was no deterrent! One of the unholy beasts lunged and he dodged to the side, lashing his head. Horns struck true, piercing throat. Bearlike claws ravaged at his side, but in the flurry, Nakhtmin felt hardly a breeze upon his coat. He drove deeper, muscled neck heaving, and when foe turned to sand, knew triumph in this battle was assured. They had misjudged him as prey, at first — now they were more cautious, and tried to circle his flank. He spun to face them, snorting. The painted warrior became vaguely aware of others joining the fray, wolves of flesh and blood. Let us show these abominations real terror, friends! He bugled, hooves striking cruelly at one of the great fiends. Ah, it had been long since a proper fight! Nakhtmin definitely the kind of guy that would live off protein shakes in a modern world
