He knew nothing more of this northern pack. The revelation drew a faint frown from the dappled woman. Was that truly enough to trust? Could she stake her safety, her future, on nothing more than a vague notion? She was not one to act on whims. Every step she took was deliberate, every choice carefully weighed. And this one? She wasn’t sure she liked it.
Who was to say she’d even be welcomed? She wasn’t of much use to most packs. When she weighed the situation, the scales tipped more toward risk than reward.
Still, she would consider it.
Then he spoke of disappointment, of kind souls, and she let out a quiet snort of amusement. Perhaps he was too trusting. Then again, he didn’t seem to care much for most wolves either. To each their own, she supposed.
Her ears flicked, and she turned her gaze back to the freezing lake. There was much to think about.
