RE: Flight of Horus - Nyra - 9/3/2025 I apologize for holding us up here, my muse has been all skiddy-wompus combined with IRL things ;w;
Nyra mulled over the words of the Pharoah below with a quiet rumble of thought, quiet enough perhaps that only Jaxxon and Ezra could have heard it, if either were paying attention to her. The young man had brought a good many people with him, a number of some she assumed to be soldiers, though she supposed it was only natural the yearling at her border bring a small guard to assure his and his party's safety. After a few long, drawn-out moments, the Einvald raised her voice to speak again; "Jakten is open to negotiations of alliance." She finally stated. The Sovereign-Queen could assume a great many things about what this Pharaoh Khaemwaset and his Queen-wife desired from Jakten, but Nyra would not voice such things unless any of them were brought to light. Even she knew past experience could only lend so much guidance... "You may enter our borders without harm." for now. Nyra left the last part unsaid, though given the cold greeting given on her part, she wouldn't be surprised if any assumed it was implied. For the meantime, the ivory behemoth looked to Jaxxon, and briefly to Ezra, to gauge their reactions and potential input on the matter. RE: Flight of Horus - Khaemwaset - 9/9/2025 for now, and pharaoh heard this as clearly as any knell. all in him thrummed not to have merneith enter, but how then might he negotiate without her? but he could not vacillate now, and so flicked the banner of his tail to indicate that satriyan defenses stand down.
for now. ceremoniously did pharaoh take a step over the well-marked and pungent grass that might have marked a border or only a path. symbolically, here he sat, not inviting himself further and also indicating that his people should not walk free until the business had been conducted. others now free to do the same, his ears listened to their quiet hush. pharaoh motioned for one of his to present the opulence of a single folded skin. plucked free of fur and cured in the sun, it was a temporary and soft gazelle-leather that held a collection of coriander flowers and raw carnelian which might be fashioned into accoutrements. this was set before jaxxon. a second pelt, this one rich with spots, was spread before nyra. added to its fine wealth was a large piece of obsidian shot through with gold veins, and two pieces of the rare cinnamonbark which did not grow in profusion. gifts from Amun to the kingdom of jakten,khaemwaset uttered, and his golden eyes were calm. i am told those in the north are strong warriors with strong gods and an eye for that which is precious,he said in a modulated voice. pharaoh meant to control the discourse, and he did not intend to use ferocity but statecraft. RE: Flight of Horus - Ezra - 9/11/2025 The Great White spoke with allowance of entrance. Ezra leaned forward to watch the caravan draw nearer. The Pharoah is smooth in movements and words. His display laid out precisely. It drew the eyes of the hunry read wolf who looked at the trinkets wrapped in smooth skins. This leather, one of no fur and one spotted. Of animals he had not seen before. The pelts Journey had worked on were larger and she kept the fur to them. Within, were pretty colored rocks which held Ezra's interest little. It was the unknown herbs which captured the addict. A norseman has an eye for many things...A murmur from the guardian, who perhaps among royals should not have spoken. Yet it was Nyra herself which passed her gaze between him and Jaxxon with questioning eyes. Vikings were known as travelers, pillagers, traiders. He could imagine how curious and greatly interested Ragnar would have been to see such items from lands far beyond. We're the Jakten as much interested in their bounties as they were their battles? RE: Flight of Horus - Jaxxon - 9/11/2025
Skill: Diplomat
Lucky for him they had summoned the wolves before Jaxxon had had time to settle into his drunken ways and the man soberly caught Nyra's gaze after she had allowed them entrance into their borders. Spoke that they were open to negotiations of alliance. His eyes shifted to one of their leaders as they came forth and placed various trinkets and furs before the thio that had appeared, he slowly nodded to him with a thankful smile and turned his eyes towards Ezra who was focused on the items that had been laid out. These are glorious, Jakten gives their thanks...Jaxxon spoke to the gathering, he would allow Nyra the diplomatic bits as he was more of a follower than a leader, and he was happier than a pig in shit to be back in his position he had been in with Joxer. The muscle, the back up, the co-head, but never make the important decisions... We all saw what happened to Mistveil when he was left in charge... Turning his eyes to scan across the many incense and sand scented wolves he sighed and pulled himself up tall, his face taking a more serious tone to it as he turned to Face Nyra with a look of questioning of what her plan might be... They would need to talk later, where he liked to follow he also liked to be part of the decision making... RE: Flight of Horus - Merneith - 9/13/2025 Eagerness and naivety swell where Pharaoh’s caution reigns. She desires to enter the mountain keep and greet their people. The queen sits close to Khaem’s side on the stair in lieu of an audience hall, tail feathering out behind her like a gold bridal train. She looks directly at the Eivalds and their guard for the first time since arriving, eyes bright in varying levels of interest at the wealth set before them; seeds to consolidate a greater relationship, which is present on Einvald Nyra’s mind. Neith was schooled to a lesser degree in foreign diplomacy, but she knew before any talks of allyship took place her brother would come to see the nature and custom of Jakten. The young guardian could not have been much older than she and Khaem. His voice lingers ominously, but his leader’s is that of intrigue. “The desert offers many glories, Einvald. Perhaps you will desire a visit to Satriya once we have returned,” her features bloom. "I imagine there is a great deal of wonders within your own mountain range." RE: Flight of Horus - Pollux - 9/18/2025 Diplomat Why was it every time there was a call at the border, she was so far away? It was an annoyance, to be sure, but comes with keeping such a large territory she supposes. By the time she was close enough to hear what was being said, Nyra's words reached her ears. They were open to alliance negotiations, interesting indeed, considering these strangers seem to have brought their whole pack with them now that she was close enough to see. The young Hersir slowed her approach until she stood beside Jaxxon, her tail up but carefully lower than her father's and Nyra's, curiosity in her expression as she looked to the man before looking wolf to wolf. Pretty things she'd love to have taken as trophies if there weren't so many others surrounding them, but the warlord princess would play nice. Especially once she saw the pretty hunk of obsidian, god she'd kill to be able to turn that into a necklace or a pair of earrings. Apologies for my late arrival, Pollux, Hersir and Vakker of Jaktenshe introduced herself with both titles and a polite nod, her voice sweet. She assumes the two that have done the talking, the pretty ones who she wish she could claim, were the leaders here...though they were so young, perhaps she could befriend these ones too. Oh, magnificent pieces, I haven't seen such a rarity in yearsshe sounded almost wistful, thinking about her old jewelry collection. Polly looked to Jaxxon, then Nyra, question in her eyes. She wanted to be a part of this talk, that was certain, she was close in age to the two leaders sitting before them, and by far the most...diplomatic of the two's children. I for one, would love to see where such beauty comes from, if the negotiations fair well of courseAs she spoke, she looked back to the gilded pair, a twinkle of excitement in her eyes. Was she flirting? Was she talking about the trinkets? Up to interpretation. RE: Flight of Horus - Sauron - 9/21/2025 SKILL warrior 1/5 ; skippable! and im sorry hes so unserious since when was dad so religious? its a question that haunts sauron, almost as much as when's dinner. sauron answered the call by trailing after it. even from a distance, he caught the smell of strangers. intruders? god — gods? — he hoped. but there wasn't a symphony of growls and snarls of war, the scent of blood waiting for him to slake before joining. all of them, sat around a group of good-for-nothings. tension haunted the air but that meant nothing. the mist was more suffocating by itself than the current conversation. he caught talk of allyship and gifts and it took every muscle in his body not to roll his eyes. but he dipped his head in a bow, only introducing himself if necessary. sauron wasn't patient enough for diplomacy but he wasn't going to fuck this up either, if only because it'd make his father upset. his eyes only flick towards ezra over the einvald's shoulders, a brief alliance should things go wrong. and there was pollux, entertaining these weirdos and speaking like she had a stick up her ass. sauron still would not speak to them, not when she already was. the only problem was that the idiot left dad and the white lady's flank exposed (author's note, they were fine). slithering to jaxxon's side, he couldn't resist whispering through a smirk ..we should let them take pollux as our gift.half joke, half serious — since she wants to mingle with them so badly. RE: Flight of Horus - Nyra - 10/5/2025 Nyra watched with an impassive gaze as the young Pharaoh came across the border, seating himself as two pelts were brought out - one for Jaxxon, and the other placed before herself... She couldn't help the ever so slight tilt of her head as the spotted hide was opened to reveal two pieces of potent-smelling bark and the piece of gold-shot obsidian. Gifts. Or so Pharaoh Khaemwaset claimed. But Nyra would not insult the boy with her suspicions, keeping her expression one of silent intrigue - especially when Pollux also arrived, as did another young boy Nyra hadn't yet familiarized herself with. A sibling of Polly's, she assumed, putting the thought aside to focus on the more important matter at hand: "Yes, Jakten gives their thanks for these gifts." The Einvald rumbled pleasantly. She could not help the massive yawn that escaped, parting her muzzle widely with the motion until she shook it off with a sharp motion of her head. "My apologies. Most of the empire has only just returned this morning from a rather long journey; We will have to begin negotiations at a later time." The pale Warqueen mused, "You may make camp somewhere close, if you wish - or you could return to Jakten for negotiations towards the end of your own journey, if that would suit you better." Nyra didn't really care which option they chose or if they had their own suggestions - she just wanted these damn kids off her lawn while Jakten got properly settled in (and by extension well rested). RE: Flight of Horus - Khaemwaset - 10/8/2025 were it not for his courtier's mien, pharaoh's face might have shut with displeasure.
as you wish,he said smoothly. i will expect your messenger when you desire to speak.but he would not wait. satriya did not wait. standing smoothly, khaemwaset motioned to the gifts. keep these as tokens of goodwill,he said, looking to his queen. i agree that satriya must have you visit,he went on, intrigued by the young man and woman who had arrived thereafter. they were tired, and this was not their home. khaemwaset was gratified to see what he thought might be some exposure, but he did not seek to press upon its core. we will camp nearby. your wolves are welcome. disappointed but refusing its revelation, pharaoh and the great royal wife, surrounded there by their guards, their vizier; khaemwaset allowed his eyes to sweep the assembly with an expression of politeness. i hope for you a good rest, jakten. with that, he had nothing else to say, and with merneith at his side, made his own small adjusting preparations for their own return. the jungle! this place of jakten! fine dreams fogged to quiet on a tongue which had not made its suggestions. royal pride dictated that they not wait about to be summoned, though he did not yet feel insulted. perhaps he might speak among them; perhaps the true trade would be information. RE: Flight of Horus - Sapair - 10/8/2025 The ceremony ended when Lord Pharaoh commanded it. Jodai waited with bowed head for the mighty lord of Egypt to take his leave alongside royal wife, followed by the members of council, then signalled for the remaining alms to be deposited before the portico of Jakten. He was impatient. Eager to move on. But will was a sickle swung solely by Pharaoh. He would see the last of Satriya’s people descend before he took up the final position in the procession. |
