Malyra Baby - Join the Howff! - Calico - 2/25/2026
Due to time constraints, Lonán has been returned, so we're putting him up for adoption! :3
Both parents are 3-3-3 characters & the Howff incorporates a lot of mature/sensitive themes.

About Lonán's family
He was an accident. During the pregnancy his Mum was planning to leave after the birth. She had no interest in motherhood. They came premature, and nearly killed her. Two of his siblings have chronic ailments due to this. Once born, Mum bonded hard and decided to stay.
His parents run Highwayman Howff. It's not the most upstanding establishment, and the parents aren't the most experienced parents, the whole thing is rough around the edges. But the kids are zealously loved and protected.
Other inn regulars include (but are not limited to!) a bard, a prostitute, several pirates/bandits, a weasel mink, a soldier with PTSD, and a fae (as well as her fae children with the soldier). These kids hear cussing all the time and prob swear too, will get the sex talk early, will probably be taught how to steal & definitely be taught how to fight. They don't have the total run of the house, but their parents' sense of manners is lacking so these are hooligan urchins by polite society standards lol

Mum, Lyra (Myna) is a superstitious, cuthroat pirate who suffered years of abuse she hasn't yet realized was actually abuse. She knows she doesn't want her pups to be raised the same way she was, but she's kind of figuring this out as she goes along. She hovers.
Da, Mal is an orphan turned bandit who's softer and more sentimental than he thinks he is. Fatherhood is a work in progress for him, too, but feels like maybe the best thing he's ever done. He's the fun parent.
Sister Newt is independent and sneaky, she's healthy. Sister Frog is brave and earnest, and has a heart condition. Sister Toad is energetic and friendly, she has asthma and crooked legs.
Will also probably have a lot of interactions with "Uncle" Jaskier the bard fun babysitter.
Lonán means "Little Blackbird" in Irish Gaelic. Lyra sings a lullaby for him and calls him Mo chuisle (My Pulse")
Lonán is a fairly blank slate, so you get to decide on personality & build!

Adoption Rules
- Doesn't have to be a primary or written every week, but we would like to see him stay up to date on major events, and (at least early on) taking part in some family threads! Salt and I wanna meet our baby and get to know him!
- 50 posts required to get full ownership, if he goes inactive before 50 posts, he comes back to me.
- When chosen, you have 2 weeks to register him and make an IC post, or he comes back to me.
- If before you reach full ownership, I notice he's only being posted once every few months skating by activity checks, for a long period of time, I may also reclaim him. But will try to reach out to you first to figure things out!
- I have a TH for him I can transfer to you at the time of reaching full ownership!
Deadline: March 31

Lonán is smooth-talking, sly, and convinced he's the cleverest creature in any room. And honestly, he often is. He has that effortless swagger that comes from growing up around pirates, bards, and bandits who treat confidence like currency. Even as a pup, he carries himself like someone who knows he's interesting. But beneath the bravado, he's got a streak of mischief that borders on artistic. He doesn't just play pranks, he curates them. He's the kind of kid who steals your coin purse only to slip it back into your pocket later with a flower tucked inside. He's a trickster with taste. He was never meant to be here, and on some level he knows that. Not in a sad way, more like a subconscious drive to prove he deserves the space he takes up. This turns into a need to be noticed, a flair for dramatics, and a tendency to puff himself up when insecure. He's not fragile about it, he just refuses to be forgettable. Growing up in a rough-and-tumble inn means: he swears like a sailor, he knows how to flirt without knowing he's flirting, he's comfortable around danger, he's fearless to the point of stupidity and he's the kid who climbs onto the bar counter to "perform" with Jaskier, then steals a pirate's hat and sprints away laughing.
Relationship Dynamics:
With Newt -
He idolizes her sneakiness and tries to imitate it, but he's louder and more dramatic. She's the shadow; he's the spotlight.
With Frog -
He's fiercely protective of her, but in a teasing, annoying-brother way. He'll fight anyone who looks at her wrong, then call her a nerd for reading too much.
With Toad -
They're chaos twins. If something breaks, it was probably them. He slows down for her without making it obvious, he's surprisingly gentle when she's struggling.
With Jaskier -
This is his blueprint for "cool." He copies the bard's swagger, dramatic flourishes, and flirtatious banter. He's basically a tiny, furry Casanova-in-training.
Note: He suffers from Cold‑Induced Muscle Spasms
A subtle neuromuscular quirk from being born premature. When he gets chilled whether it be from rain, snow, or cold water, his muscles seize or tremble uncontrollably for a few minutes. It's not life‑threatening, but it's inconvenient and embarrassing. It gives him a reason to hate looking weak, fueling his bravado. It's something he tries to hide. He avoids showing vulnerability, doubling down on charm and swagger. This also makes him weirdly superstitious about cold, thanks to Lyra's influence. He's fast and agile because he hates being still long enough to get chilled.
