your heartbeat, mine - Yesbaa - 4/3/2026

Cen mayhaps? but family (all of them) and packmates welcome!

despite hesitating at first to stumble out of the whelping den, yesbaa toddled after anyone her blue eyes landed on. any tall stalk of legs were enough for the girl to follow. but she knew which were the silver legs of mother, and which belonged to others. only mother's legs had food, probably. she had never thought to check.

now, she followed a tall set; they were all tall, but these legs was stockier than most. and they were familiar to her, enough for the girl to feel comfortable to weave between them, and to hide underneath the long shadow the familiar adult casted. all the while, a smile brightened her face.

Meleys grunted as one of five tiny niece/nephews scrambled under her footing, brushing along a descended belly, stirring with life of their own. She stumbles in her step - easy to do these days - but steadies herself quickly enough on long, study black limbs.

Head lowering and comically so, she sticks her head between her forlegs to take a peak up-side-down at the intruder of her dark bubble.

Yesc'ebaa. She grumbles to the little girl. Who was, quite frankly, a rather beautiful thing. White with black face, opposite of herself, in face.

under the trio of watchful eyes, chieftain and darkfang observed the first excursion of yesc'ebaa from the snow shelter. it stunned him how very swiftly a child grew from a suckling round thing with shut eyes to this toddling bit of caribou fluff.
ha! you see? many brothers make a strong sister, smirked the sun chief, for it was true. even at their ages, he still admired meleys, though this was never open admission. learn from your aunt. she will tell you what it is to stand with men and against them.
he lay down across the frigid clearing to block any further forays, glancing childishly at his sister to see how she would react.

yesbaa looked up upon hearing a grumble, and was met not with papa but — aunt meleeys!

heehee, the girl chirped, plopping onto her behind. a boisterous laugh erupted from behind aunt. oh! there was father! yesbaa found the energy to stand again and tumbled after her father. she dove into the fat of his belly the moment he dared laying down, sinking in the warmth before turning to aunt meleeys once again.

she did not know what it meant to stand against men, but it must be an incredible feat if father spoke so highly of it! may she be just as incredible as her aunt.

Still looking to the girl in her up-side-down view, she snorts to the girl's giggle, nose crinkling as an odd flash of teeth in a grin is offered to the little girl. Like a villain comically trying to play friendly neighbor, which wasn't at all wrong.

As the girl bounded off towards her father, Meleys lifted her head and reeled around, taking a few steps into that direction. Your father is right about many things. This most of all. She speaks to the girl yet dark and light grey eye look to her brother.

cen gave a sound as if the breath had been knocked from him, rolling to one side and swiping the air over her ears.
see! already she is like you, meleys, he groaned, thinking of the many times she had set him to rights with teeth and shoulder. fight and spar often, daughter. it will make you strong.
he could not see ahead, but he wished, somehow, that all of his children might remain within the sun clan.
he was not one for smiling, but as he sat up, the chieftain wore a small bow to his mouth all the same. you say i am right! we must mark this day, he teased his sister.

yesbaa returned meleys' toothy grin with one of her own. aunt's teeth were as white as her half-mask. father's own rumbling laughter shook the earth yesbaa just barely stood on, and it was comforting. they will keep her safe.

taking her father's words to heart before she even understood them, she repaid this by seizing one of cen's ears. the adults exchanged their own conversations, but yesbaa was here to play!

Yesbaa is very little, but she shows that she is tough already in her youth as she rams into her father, but as well goes to snatch at a tattered ear atop his head.

Meleys’ laughter is dark, her eyes watching with a sharpness at the niece she may soon enough run with, train to fight amongst the men and win.

The old crone sits then, her body heavy and the weight of her belly resting against the soft loam of the Elk's Crown. You best! She agreed, It may not happen again in this lifetime.
