shining, shimmering, splendid - Aiesha - 4/11/2026

Ignoring timelines atm, wanted her home from Tianlong (although bwp timeline is looming).

The return felt faster than the initial journey, in part due to Aiesha being so excited and distracted as she hiked with Osiris. It felt as though she had truly found a lifelong calling, a purpose for herself—and she was utterly smitten with the likes of Tianlong, as jarring as their introduction to it had been—or how sore her body was after waking from the previous night's nightmare of a chained wolf.

I cannot wait to share what we have learned! She practically sang, beaming from ear to ear. All she wanted to do was find Legend and tell her all about the journey; Senmut and boast about her adventure; maybe even consult with Merneith directly!

The looming presence of Satriya drew across them in the form of an imperious shadow, and Aiesha hurried along—unaware of how quiet the outskirts were, or the tension in the air within the halls as the pair ducked inside the palace. Her pace lagged when her minor injuries got to be too much, and not even her heightened mood helped her to ignore herself.

Thank you for journeying with me— she said, commending the lion.

Watching Aiesha spark with passion was something extraordinary. She might doubt her place in Satriya, but he hoped she'd found her calling in this. Ambassadorship was nothing to sneeze at, and he thought she had the talent to be quite good at it especially with more experience.

Where the lady bore some wounds from her dream, no longer casted a shadow, he merely seemed... well, glowy? As if Ra's light had been impressed upon his fur! Mostly when he moved, or the strands of fur were touched.
It was... beautiful. Divine. Who'd ever heard of a bioluminescent lion?

Osiris kept his pace short for her, even tried discreetly to slow down the pace if he could manage, but Aiesha was eager to get home. To share her story.
He smiled down at her, tail curling with delight. This is a good thing you have done. I hope you had fun, too.

He had.

He might not like fighting, but being an escort? Seeing other kingdoms? Walking new lands? This was the sort of thing being Mazoi offered him. These were the reasons he put himself back into this position.
He had worried he might regret it.

But walking beside the little red coywolf as she danced along Satriya grounds? Watching her joy flutter ever higher?

He couldn't regret this.

I would do it a hundred times over, he assured her, It is my duty and my pleasure to guard you on your journeys, Lady Aiesha. Here, within the palace, he could not be so informal as she might wish; but she could have both. Don't hesitate to call on me again if you need another escort.

It was quiet, the thought finally occurred to him. Slow down, my lady.

His strides lengthened as he tried to pass her, head rising.

His jaws parted to draw scent over his tongue.

We should've passed someone by now, don't you think?

Little did she know of the changes that had befallen the kingdom of Satriya; that her father Senmut had not yet returned from the fires, or that he held audience with them at all; that Legend had her own demons to quell; that Khusobek had gone in attendance—or that Tavina had so swiftly departed, too. The many main-stays of the palace had vanished prior to Aiesha's return.

Thus, as she paced the halls and then stood silent beside Osiris, there was only the disquiet left behind. Fellahin remained—someone scurried between doorways, a few moments later a pair of others carried some offering or prepared object away; but there was no face to greet them and no explanation.

Do not go far from me, please, she murmured over her shoulder to the lion, frowning as she tread further.

Osiris might not have expected anyone to greet him, but Aiesha? Did nobody notice them coming? Impossible -- any number of Mazoi and Fellahin must've by now, and yet, things were quiet. The comings and goings told him that life went on in some form, but...
It was eerie.

The dusky, shimmering feline stalked closer along her flank even as she opened her jaws to bid it. I would not dream of it, my lady, he assured her, sharp gaze still sweeping, How would you like to proceed? Right to the throne room? Would they look for her family? He couldn't in good conscious just leave her to wander alone!
Had others been hurt, going through those portals?

Osiris just frowned deeper and carried on at the red Nebet's side.

Perhaps we can find Tavina? The woman was often tending to her medicines, or perhaps she would be in the company of Eset, now that they were reunited. Even saying so made Aiesha worry - she could not be certain of anything. The halls had never been this quiet as far as she knew (but then, what did she know? Satriya remained heavily mysterious to her).

Can you think of anyone to call out to? Or... Or seek? Her voice became very hushed, and she crowded close to Osiris for both protection from whatever lurked in these halls, and the comfort of a warm body. All she knew were the names of people already gone, or who had not made the transition; the rest could have been anywhere.

She felt very small and unimportant.
