You may look down on them, but they are free - Persimmon - 7/22/2026

It was time to go home. Persimmon had some trepidation over the idea, but no longer did he wish to be away from his kin. However Apple felt about him having been gone, whether or not she wanted him back, it couldn't keep him from trying. It wouldn't stop him from going back to see his littermates, if nothing else. He would be back, though; he promised Fable! She was dear to him, she and Fox and Epona and the whole of Avon. They'd healed him when he was injured, helped him after Mythris chewed him up and spit him back out! On nothing but Sparrow's word, he'd become almost like family to them, too! A part of his heart would remain in Avon, he thought. And it wouldn't even hurt to cleave off this piece and leave it behind from time to time, because he couldn't feel the pain anyway! It would simply be here, waiting for him alongside the family he should've been born beside.

But tomorrow morning, he would go. He'd already asked Sparrow to guide him back, and with that sealed the adventure. If Mutter hated him, he could always just come back.

Today, he was going to enjoy the meadows. See if he could spend time with the kingdom members, familiar or not. He would be back, he kept telling himself.

Yet, he had less energy than usual. He didn't feel like romping and running and doing things, a little on the sullen side. He sat at the edge of the river watching it flow past in tight-lipped silence. What would his Mutter say? Had she missed him at all over the weeks, or was she glad the den was probably more quiet? He wanted to believe she was sad he was gone, but what if he went back and nothing had changed? What if she'd gotten used to him gone and didn't even CARE if he was there or here?

Persi puffed a sigh.

He'd know soon enough, he supposed. Sparrow said that through the tunnels, it was only about three days time; he was tempted to ask to go the long way and see more of Mythris, but he also wanted to be back --to know-- as soon as possible.

RE: You may look down on them, but they are free - Amrei - 7/22/2026

After so many times trying to have a litter of her own again, Amrei had been left empty pawed. A saddened expression on her face as she roamed the pack grounds with an almost zombie like gait. She knew it wasn't her fault, nor Kaphiri's. Perhaps it just wasn't their time yet. She had to trust that Mother Nature knew what she was doing, that it would come when the moment was right. In the meantime, Amrei would settle with what ever chores she could. Which led her to the meadows on this warm and sunny day. The flowers were in full bloom, the smell of them filling her nose and attempting to bring a smile to her face.

Amber eyes looked around to see if anyone else had the same idea. Much to her surprise, there certainly was. A pup with a sour look on his face. A pretty boy that should be out having fun. Not slopping around like a saddened mess. Much like her. Gently, Amrei let out a woof in his direction. Hoping to get his attention and to lend a kind ear. Maybe they could help cheer each other up despite what may be going on in their lives. At least that's what her hope was.
