Lets only think about love - Nephthys - 8/6/2026 After the neighbors rudely interrupted her preparations, Nephthys returned to her work. Funny though, if that emperor hadn't arrived with an invasion force she would have invited them to the wedding! As Khyan is the first of her children to find his own mate, this was...special. Important. Maybe it would kick Sobek and Cairo into gear to find their own mates, in each other or otherwise. Maybe she SHOULD have betrothed them? It didn't help of course, that she hadn't been to a proper wedding, her own had been impromptu and inspired by a godly pull in her soul. It had very little flare, though the fissure had been a spectacle itself! It had been short, sweet, and sensual. It had been fitting for the pair, their fires burn hot and quick. But their numbers have grown now, they were a proper pack, they need proper ceremonies, rituals. Things Nephthys hadn't really thought about, until it was needed. The children had been enlisted to help, of course, the youngest litter set to dragging flowers from the jungle and finding pretty shells to the beach, aligning them all in a half circle that would be the venue. The elder children were set to hunting for a feast, Vasili of course had been sent to gather his stashes for the festivities. The children would get to see their mother soft and cuddly for perhaps the first time Once the venue was decorated, the real work began. Bribery, first of all, sweet fruits given to a monkey Nephthys has been trying to befriend to put her fingers to work. The monkey rode in on Nephthys's back, was carried to one of the rock platforms at the venue, and set to work as well. Piles of smaller bones had been set down for the monkey to braid into fur for whoever wanted to dress up, flowers as well, Nephthys herself had a fine adornment now situated in her scruff, smaller skulls in a necklace of vine wrapped around her throat. Horrifying to look at probably. 'Paints' too, a skull of blood, another of mashed berries and sap that had been made last minute when Khyan protested at the blood. Just before the sun rose on the day of, delicately, very delicately, she decorated Idalie's face with the berry paint, scoring both sides of the golden girl's jaw with red. Nervous? She asked quietly, checking in on the girl she had adopted in heart only, before moving to her son. Khyan too, got his jaw stained with red on each side, and a swipe on his brow for royalty. Ready? She asked him when she was done, pressing her nose to his cheek in a kiss before pulling back and looking at the pair. Once the couple were decorated, and everyone that wanted bones or flowers braided into their fur had their decorations set, she did Vasili's. Him, she painted with blood, her heart burning with want as she traced his fine facial features. Cheekbones, chin, forehead, she thought it magnificent. Of course she did though, she was obsessed with skulls. Nephthys then had Vasili paint her the same. Then, the sun peaked over the horizon, she waited for her husband to take his place at the water's edge, before she threw her head back to howl an announcement, calling the rest of the pack to the northern shore that overlooked the coral reef. The wedding begins!
RE: Lets only think about love - Cairo - 8/7/2026 Skill: ![]() She'd been sulking in her den that morning. She hadn't slept much since the hunt, she knew what was coming, her and Sobek had hunted to help prepare for the feast and the wedding. Her stomach flopped and flipped inside her body, her brain swirled and whirled inside her head, her body ached and she should have been fine by now it's not like she'd never hunted before... When the call rang up in the sky Cairo growled to herself from inside the dark cave before she pulled herself to her large pale bottomed paws and set out to the shore. Duo-toned optics narrowed at the space ahead of her as she glared from a pale mask. Khyan. Idalie. Married. Yuck. When she arrived she was the first one there besides her parents and the couple and she plopped her ass heavily on the sands to roll her eyes and sit slouched to the side with a bored look on her face already. Yuck.
RE: Lets only think about love - Idalie - 8/8/2026
Now that the issue with the wolves across the ocean had been placed on hold, Idalie was back to buzzing with excitement. It wasn't only that she was marrying her soulmate - it was also that she was finding a sense of belonging. She'd spent almost all of her life here, hoping to one day be viewed as good enough to be part of their family.
And now, with Nephthys - the one Idalie had wanted to impress the most - coloring her face with berry juice, she finally felt as though she had. Nervous? Idalie shook her head with a smile. There was a fluttering in her chest and a jitteriness in her limbs, but it wasn't anything negative in the slightest. "Excited," she breathed a gentle correction. Excited. Proud. Adoring. She'd never been more sure about anything. And with her face painted and flowers braided throughout her fur, she'd never felt more beautiful, either. The sun rose and Nephthys, also decorated and painted resplendently, called for the Dominion. Idalie could hardly keep her eyes off of her betrothed as she waited, paws shuffling in the sand and heart beating a mile a minute. Married! They were about to be married! She sought Khyan's gaze, and though she didn't say it out loud, she hoped he could somehow sense the love she was experiencing, so intense that she felt as though she might explode. RE: Lets only think about love - Khyan - 8/11/2026 ![]() You with the dark curls, you with the watercolor eyes.
3-3-3 OC SpeechEmotional Actions Thoughts To say he was nervous was an understatement, and he had no reason to be. He knew Idalie. He loved Idalie. He would do anything for her—slit his own throat if she asked, kneel upon the dirtiest ground without a second thought, cross oceans and tear down mountains if it meant proving that she was worth every ounce of devotion he had to give. He was a loverboy, through and through. And this wedding? This was his dream come true. The berry paint still felt strange against his fur, especially the mark across his brow that Nephthys had given him for royalty. Khyan had never thought much of himself as such. He was simply Khyan. Her son. Idalie's mate. A wolf who had somehow managed to stumble into the greatest love he could have ever imagined. Yet standing there now, decorated in red, with the ocean stretching endlessly behind him, it suddenly felt real. He was going to marry her. Idalie. His eyes found her almost immediately. And gods, she was beautiful. Flowers woven into her fur, jaw scored with red and her eyes oh so beautiful. For a moment, everything else seemed to disappear. The pack. The decorations. The feast waiting to be eaten. The ocean. Even the nervous thudding of his own heart seemed to fall away beneath the sheer, overwhelming sight of her. She was looking at him. That alone nearly undid him. His ears tipped forward, his expression softening into something so openly adoring it would have been impossible to mistake. His tail gave an embarrassing little sweep behind him, betraying just how completely smitten he was. He couldn't stop staring. How could he? This was the girl he'd chosen. The girl he'd loved through every doubt, every hardship, every moment where the world seemed determined to pull them in opposite directions. Idalie had become so deeply woven into him that he couldn't remember what his life had looked like before her. She wasn't simply someone he loved. She was home. Khyan took a slow breath, trying to steady himself, before stepping toward her. One paw. Then another. Until there was nothing between them but a few inches of sand. His nose brushed gently against hers, and he let out the faintest, breathless laugh. Almost in disbelief, why? Because Khyan had spent enough time loving Idalie to know that there was nothing in the world he wanted more. His forehead pressed gently against hers. I'd marry you a hundred times over if you'd let me. A quiet smile pulled at his muzzle. I'd choose you every single time. His gaze remained locked with hers, impossibly tender. He wanted her to know. Not just today, not just because there was a ceremony and a gathered pack watching them. He wanted her to know for every day that followed. He would prove it. If she wanted the moon, he'd spend his life searching for a way to bring it down. If she wanted safety, he'd stand between her and every danger that dared approach. If she wanted nothing more than to sit beside him in silence, he'd happily spend eternity doing exactly that. Whatever she needed, whatever she asked, Khyan would give. Because loving Idalie had never felt like sacrifice. It felt like privilege. His nose nudged hers once more before he finally pulled back, though reluctantly, his eyes still refusing to leave her. I love you, Idalie. Simple words. But there was an entire lifetime behind them because there was an entire lifetime ahead of the couple. A life to be explored, a life to adventure and learn these lands. More than I know how to say. And whilst these weren't vows, they felt like it to him, a vow he'd love her for eternity if she allowed. A vow that his soul was hers, a promise to her that she never has to fear him leaving again. And for perhaps the first time that morning, Khyan didn't look nervous anymore. He looked certain. Certain that this was where he belonged. Certain that she was the wolf he wanted beside him until the very end. And utterly, hopelessly certain that he would spend the rest of his life making sure Idalie never had to question just how loved she truly was. Never had to question that he, was hers and hers alone, no one could take him from him, not even death himself. He'd return, another body, another name but he'd search the ends of the universes to find her again. “Should the day ever come when I have to live without you, I hope the last thing my heart remembers is this moment—the moment I had you, loved you, and knew with absolute certainty that there was nowhere else in this world I would rather be.” RE: Lets only think about love - Kauket - 9/7/2026 Of course Kauket wanted BONES braided into her fur Sometimes she chased the monkey, but it often just swatted her away when she tried, or scrambled upon the back of an adult to hoot and holler in taunting victory -- knowing that even if she still tried, said adult would take their turn kicking her to the curb. She never hurt it! But chasing the strange creature was fun, and it seemed to know she didn't mean harm -- at least, it was willing enough to play with her fur and tangle within it a bunch of tiny little bones. She wanted painted, too, but Mom said that was for the Pharaoh's and the ones getting married! She wanted to be pretty too!
But she was easily distracted. She was sniffing about at the food area when Neph and Vasili called for things to begin, but she trundled over to take her place as she knew she'd be expected. If she behaved, then there was no reason for them to yell or tell her she couldn't have it! It would be boring, she thought, but worth it once she got her nose into all that'd been gathered. RE: Lets only think about love - Vasili - 9/7/2026 Vasili was so unbearably proud of his boy. Yan might've been the soft one, the one who refused blood paint and anything too gorey, but the love he held in his heart for his own beloved was a sight to be witnessed; even had Neph tried to betroth him to someone else, Vasi thought he would've fought for their sons right to choose. He was glad Neph just seemed pleased with Idalie, though she had been fond of the girl since the very day they found her.
This day, it was what he wanted for all his children. A big wedding, a day to celebrate their love and chosen mates. Happiness laid before them in a sprawling future. He had been preparing berries for weeks; stripping the island and the plains beyond for as many as he could find. He was trying new things, too: apples he'd found on an outing, the mangoes and bananas of the tropical island, several kinds of berries and a batch of mixed extras, all sweetened with honey he'd suffered many a beesting to steal. Normally he only took those abandoned, but between the amount he needed for many batches and the importance of the day, he wanted everything to be perfect. He needed a fresh hive, and he had found it, suffering through Nephs scolding later as she plastered his welts with herbs. As it happened, it wasn't the only preparation he'd done. Hed also gotten quite good at diving. Why? Well, for wedding gifts! Hed been putzing around thinking of something that would mark the bride and groom alike bonded - Amon had once spoken of rings upon the hand, but Vasili had never seen anything conveniently shaped to a toe before let alone something he could find two of. But the idea remained, and he had thought perhaps matching seashells! If he could find a clam and split it in half, even, to display their glittering insides. It didn't quite feel as unique as he would've wanted for each couple, even if every shell was; if everyone ended up wearing the same clam shells, it defeated the purpose of standing apart. Trying anyway took him to the coral reef, and there, deep under the water and holding breath in screaming lungs, he saw a knob that looked very much like the golds of Idalie and the gingers of Yan melted into one swirling coral chunk. He had to have it. Back up he had gone, to catch his breath and find a rock. Yes, a rock! The first one fit in his jaws, and he went down with confidence…. Only to find he could not swing it as he thought he could, not fast enough through water to break. He had to return to the surface with empty jaws and screaming lungs in search of a new plan. So he got a bigger rock. It took him three tries to accept he couldn't carry it tucked against him with either front or back legs - he needed all four to swim far enough out! He borrowed Nephs new monkey friend. For a sweet treat, it was happy to help him, too, and Vasi laughed when he thought the beast would be as busy as most in the preparations with his little fingers. A bigger rock, one as big as the critter could roll onto his back from the surf and hold. Vasi was so weighted down he had spluttered and cursed and thought of abandoning the task at every stroke of his legs, but he had been too far in. He had to see it through! For himself, and for Yan. The first rock missed, cracking against some other chunk of the reef, and he muttered another string of curses the whole way back as the monkey boredly braided the neck fur in front of it. Great, very helpful. Attempt two didn't hit anything at all, and had to be followed by a long rest. His spine hurt, his legs hurt, his shoulder was on fire, and he thought half the ocean must've been snorted up through his nose. But after, well rested and ready to try again… the third attempt left the Pharaoh watching with his face pushed into the water and eyes open against the stinging salt as the stone sunk down quickly. He felt rather than heard it strike, and watched the grafted coral break apart. He pulled his head up to woop in victory and suck in a deep breath before plunging down to get them. He crammed several of the chunks into his jaws for his project, and upon closer inspection, realized something else had broken in the first failure - a purple tube of coral. This, he grabbed too, rising to the surface to let the scrambling, irritated monkey claw back onto him for the swim back, grumbling unintelligibly around the coral that he wasn't going to let the cretin drown and to calm the fuck down. The hard part done, it'd been easy work to gather up some vines and carry on to a secluded part of the island to finish the gifts. A glimmering pair of necklaces for Yan and Ida, the vine tying and knotting around several chunks of the orange and yellow coral pieces. Simple, but wholly their own. But ever the dutiful husband, his own sweet wife was not forgotten. The purple tube hed used a rock on himself; he'd meant to shatter it just like the others had been and do the same, but the stick-like piece merely split in the middle and left him with TWO tubes easily slung onto the vine without troubles or knots! Perfect, he thought. He had the monkey tie a few tiny bird bones on either ends of theirs, knowing Neph would appreciate it. He presented it to her on the morning of the ceremony to dress in, and saw it there hanging about her neck as he joined her for the big day. His own clung to his neck; they fit snug and sat high enough not to bounce about wildly, but they could always ask the monkey to retie it too. Personally, he liked the way it settled against the back of his neck just above his shoulders and didn't thump against his chest at every step. He took his spot at the head of the group, sitting regally before them all and waited for stragglers to join and settle in. Vasis gaze, clouded and sharp alike, glimmered with pride. Moments like these ones had always felt so far away! When he started putting ideas to Neph, even when they struck from the side of Nyra, it'd all seemed such a dream. Even his own wedding had been impromptu and christened by the crackle of Mythris magic; special in its own right, and more binding he thought than anything else they could've planned, but fleeting and shadowed by destruction. He was glad that here, now, they were strong enough to have remained. To have helped save the world and put right their lands, to repair the damage done by generations long past. When everyone was gathered, he wuffed for their attention. We gather beneath the volcano of dragons in the presence of kith and kin to witness the promises Khyan and Idalie have to offer each other, to hear the words and name them bound to one another. His son was getting married. The words were spilling from Vasili's own lips twisted with glee, but he could hardly believe it. Today they choose to walk together into all of tomorrow's tomorrows, remembering the wisdom of old: if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together. Love is a daily choice of devotion and endurance, not a fleeting feeling. Love is what wakes you and drives your day onwards, what brings you back to the same nest and warm body at night, and what keeps you strong every moment between with the promise of something true to return to. Vasi hoped all his kids found such dedication. Khyan,he murmured, dropping eyes from the crowd to the boy, Do you take Idalie to be your wedded partner? To walk by her side, honor her, defend her, provide for her in sickness and health, happiness and sorrow, famine and prosperity, for as long as you both live? When Yan had promised as much, he turned to the golden girl they'd found on the sands what felt a lifetime ago. Idalie,he crooned, tail wagging, Do you take Khyan to be your wedded partner? To walk by his side, honor him, defend him, provide for him in sickness and health, happiness and sorrow, famine and prosperity, for as long as you both live? When she, too, had given her oath, Vasi nodded to the pair of them approvingly, and turned to look to Neph. He'd asked her to ‘hide’ the necklaces until this moment, though he wondered if in seeing their own matching set Yan and Ida might know their coming gift. When she pawed the slab of bark between the four of them, Vasi lifted a paw to motion for them each to lift one. These matching stones are the token to represent your love and pairing, set upon your neck where you can feel the beat of each other's hearts and know the life thrums for the other. Place them upon your beloved now -his chest puffed out a little, as if to show them where his lay, and repeat after me: I give you this stone as a symbol of my love, faith, and endless commitment. Once they had, he beamed. If you have vows to speak in front of the Dominion, breathe them to life now. |
