[WP] when the curtains call the time - Eden - 8/15/2026 RE: [WP] when the curtains call the time - Ambrose - 8/16/2026 Like her smaller twin, Rose didn't really know how to behave.
She tried - she would sit ever so still for all of five seconds before every nerve ending was on fire, her efforts in vain. Her name was often followed by a muttered curse in Irish from Shiloh, but she wasn't old enough to understand what he was saying and, therefore, it didn't bother her. Even if she did understand, it would change little. The world was Rose's oyster - or at least it was the obstacle she was determined to flatten by any means necessary. It was emphasized upon them to be even more orderly than usual in this new, strange place. Rose wasn't sure she'd ever seen so much green in all her life (all month and a half of it) - it was everywhere, even underfoot and overhead and on every side of her. The temperature was also higher. Chilly breezes she'd come to expect were missing almost entirely, save for what little whistled through from the seaboard. As a balmy rush of air combed through, it brought even more foreign scents - scents she was dying to investigate. Life was cruel, expecting them to be stationary. Rose's paws began to tingle and she fidgeted; she could feel Shiloh's gaze on her like a sixth sense, but she refused to make eye contact. If she didn't, he would look away, right? The ol' "I can't see you, so you can't see me" dealio. It seemed to work because his sight turned back to what was ahead of them and she felt the tension leave her body. Just in time to be jabbed in the chest by her sister's decidedly angular elbow. Rose's attention slid sidelong to Eden and then in the direction of the Pile of Shiny Temptation. It glinted in all the enticing ways that were sure to lure both of them and Rose's eyes widened with wonder. Amid it all, a roughened crystal caught her eye, its dull but multifaceted surface catching light in a way she could only describe as the magic Shiloh sometimes told them about. We gotta get it,Rose whispered, glancing briefly in their parents' direction to ensure they were looking away from them. She scooched her bum a few inches, discreetly creating distance little by little. C'mon, she coaxed her twin. Maybe if she boosted Eden up on her shoulders, she could reach the object of Rose's current fascination. |
