Hunger pangs - Joxer - 9/19/2026

SKILL: SKILL NAME (1/5)
Anyone in Sanguine can join <3

The watering hole stank of mud, hot animal flesh, and old death, which was enough to make Joxer decide he liked the place. He moved along its bank at an easy prowl, massive paws sinking into the damp earth while his eyes picked apart every ripple, every trail pressed into the muck, every nervous beast lingering too long at the water’s edge. Something large shifted beneath the dark surface once, vanishing before he could make out more than the suggestion of a scaled back, and Joxer snorted beneath his breath; alligators, apparently, though he had no intention of testing whether the stories about things disappearing into the depths were true. Not today, anyway. Fairytale was pregnant, and that meant she needed to eat—properly, as far as he was concerned—and the thought narrowed his attention toward the herds gathering farther downshore. He wanted something fat. Young enough to be tender, large enough to be worth dragging home, and stupid enough to separate from the others. A smile pulled faintly at his mouth as he lowered his body into the grass and began to stalk, patience settling over him with the familiar ease of an old profession. His wife was carrying his children. The least he could do was bring her something warm for supper.

RE: Hunger pangs - Fairytale - 9/19/2026

Fairytale was, for once, doing absolutely fuckin’ nothing.

She lay curled beneath the jungle's shade, her tiny frame tucked comfortably against the warm earth, paws drawn beneath her chest as the sounds of the watering hole drifted around her. Birds called from the canopy. Insects hummed lazily through the heat. Somewhere nearby, water shifted against the muddy banks.

She was barely four weeks along.

Barely.

And yet, Fairytale already looked considerably farther.

Her tiny waist had begun to soften, the narrow line of her frame filling out with surprising ease. Her ribs were no longer quite as prominent beneath her coat, and beneath her belly sat a faint but growing swell. A noticable bump. Enough that anyone entertaining the absolutely ridiculous idea that Fairytale had somehow lied about being pregnant would have that theory thrown directly out the window. There was no hiding it anymore. Something was growing inside her. Something—or rather, several somethings. Tiny little paws were forming within her belly. Tiny little children that might inherit their dominus' coat, their domina's eyes, or some beautiful mixture of both. Eventually, they would be bounding through the jungles with all the reckless energy of children who had absolutely no concept of personal space.

Pregnancy had turned Fairytale into an absolute menace around food.

She had been ravenous.

Anything edible was fair game. Scraps disappeared. Leftovers disappeared. Things that probably shouldn't have been considered leftovers somehow disappeared. If Joxer left something unattended for longer than five seconds, there was a very real possibility that his wife—or her hungry little passengers—had claimed it for the bottomless pit called her belly. And Fairytale was entirely unapologetic, even if Fairytale never seemed to feel quite full.

But for now...

They slept. And so did their mother. Fairytale's breathing remained slow and peaceful, her nose twitching every so often as she dreamed. Her paws shifted faintly against the earth, and her tail gave an occasional sleepy flick.

Somewhere beyond the shade, Joxer was hunting. He was searching for something warm, fat, and filling enough to make a proper dinner for their growing family. Joxer knew that when he returned, his wife would be very eagerly awaiting him. For now, Fairytale slept peacefully beneath the jungle canopy, completely unaware that supper time was soon.
