Northfall King's Tourney: Kyros x Viola - narrator - 1/31/2025
THE KING'S TOURNEY
The day began early - as it would be a long one - for the bustling collection of wolves within Northfall's peaks. Friends, strangers, and family alike had gathered to mourn the loss of the kingdom's late King and revel in his memory, but today - today, many brave souls vowed to bleed in his honor.
As though Ragnar himself had carved a window from the halls of Valhalla to view the displays of valor below, the skies were clear with nary a cloud - the day promised a touch of warmth, though the rugged peaks of the mountain could possess only so much comfort in the heart of winter.
A flattened space was chosen for the day's spars, shelves of shallow and climbing inclines providing seating for onlookers. The frozen ground glittered beneath the sun, threatening slippery footholds for the wintertime battles. Those who stepped forward would need to be quick on their feet, but clever, too - one wrong move could leave them flat on their back or sliding directly into the mass of wolves and beasts who formed the boisterous crowd on all sides.
A quiet hush fell across the gathered bodies as two forms made their way into the circle.
The moment of tension held the world in suspense before a single cry broke it, heralding the clash's start.

KYROS x VIOLA
VIOLA is attacking first.
RULES
- Each spar is 3 rounds. Before typing out your post, place your dice roll in a post and then edit in your written post. If you are unsure how to roll dice, please see the fields below with each roll code!
- The entrant with the highest roll totals at the end of 3 rounds is the winner. They will progress to the next stage of the tournament.
- Maiming and death are disallowed UNLESS cleared with your thread partner first.
- Each player has THREE DAYS to post for their turn or they will be forced to forfeit the fight. This is imposed to help keep things rolling.
- Predetermined winners MAY be chosen, but it must be communicated and agreed upon by both parties in the fight. If you choose to do this, please denote that a winner has been predetermined, you do not have to signal who wins if you wish to maintain the suspense.
- This battle uses modifiers. Those modifiers are as follows:
► No Warrior Skills: 1d5
► Basic Warrior Skill: 1d6
► Specialist Warrior Skill: 1d8
► Expert Warrior Skill: 1d10
Only ONE modifier can be used
- If you win a no-modifier fight and your next opponent DOES use modifiers, you will need to decide if you wish to continue or "forfeit" to your opponent. The same rule applies to off-screen fights. If your chosen preference is off-screen fights, you will need to decide between continuing on-screen or forfeiting to your next on-screen opponent.
- Off-screen fights will roll three d5 in the dice channel in Discord and the one with the highest roll result is the winner. (Command to use: /r 3d5) If you wish to predetermine the winner between yourself and your opponent, that is your choice!

Viola had wanted to be like Bella, joining in the adults fighting party. She had expected to just be playing with her sister, but the girl soon learned that it would not just be them. There were other children, ones that they would be “fighting”. It was exciting! She’d never seen other pups before, especially ones that looked like these ones. As she stood across the small area from her “opponent”, amber eyes sparked with admiration and excitement as she looked at the other’s red marks. Oh, she was pretty! And tall!
Viola couldn’t refrain from wagging her tail quickly, ears pinning back as she anxiously licked at her nose. She got to play with this pretty red wolf and Bella also got to play with a new friend too. The whole trip was so long and tiring, but she was so happy to be there with them all. Maybe they could all be friends? Maybe they could have fighting parties again? It was all so exciting!
Blue paws shifted, her weight teetering as she thought of her father and uncle, they were both super strong and good at fighting, weren’t they? Should she act like them? Viola crouched slightly, her tail lifting above her back as a small, squeaky growl slipped out. She was doing her best, but the whole Big Bad Wolf look didn’t really suit her, but she was trying!
Bolting into a run, Viola leapt to tackle the other, her teeth currently sheathed and unused. Maybe she didn’t have to bite? Maybe she could just wrestle with her?

There was a lot to life that Kyros didn’t understand, like how Eidola was the chosen one and got to hear special voices and the rest of them didn’t. She wanted to hear voices, too! What did they sound like? Were they nice? Did they tell her cool things? Kyros wanted to be told cool things!
She doesn’t really know how she ended up here, staring at another pup - but it’s another pup, and one that’s smaller, and darker, and someone totally new! Was she another chosen one, like her sister? Her ears flickered, thinking about the only time in the world she had ever fought anything, and it was a friggin’ snowman.
The other girl squeaks and Kyros blinks, taking no notice to the fact that the other girl’s teeth isn’t out as she decides to use her head as her weapon in an attempt to headbutt her.

It took a moment, but she recalled they were in a fight — daddy and uncle Jax NEVER giggled during their fights. It was time to get serious! Viola’s brows furrowed, and her lips puckered to make an exaggerated expression of sternness. It was all business now, just like the grown ups.
Finding her way back to her feet, the girl charged back in, still-growing legs lanky and not the most efficient at running. As she neared, Viola leapt at her, a small blue body potentially draping over Kyros’ back to weigh her down.

Her head made contact with something hard and it caused the other girl to giggle? To scream? Kyros had never heard both at once! The darker girl tumbled away, and Kyros was so confused, she blinked after her tilting and shaking her head.
So.. so Kyros decided to mimic her! Giggle-screaming as she leapt on her, and Kyros took chance to attempt to chomp as Viola flattened her.

Her tail wagged gleefully as she snapped towards whatever bit of Kyros she could get ahold of, while her ear was in the other’s grasp.
High pitched rumbles escaped her as she played with her new friend, the two of them becoming a tangled mess of puppy limbs as they tried to keep hold of the other. Viola never wanted the fight party to end.

This was so much fun! There were no other puppies around home for them to play with, aside from her sisters, and this somehow seemed more fun that chewing on sticks all day and listening to cool voices! Her teeth found purchase on the ear, and Kyros decided in that moment, that ears were better than sticks! No ear would be safe, especially not Viola’s ears! They belonged to her now.
And she was content to just sit here and suckle on her ear, too, until the high pitched rumbled distracted her and oh! What was it that she was doing? She attempted to exchange the ear for her face, using her tongue as her weapon.

Viola giggled as teeth nibbled on her, her own teeth nibbling back. Soon Kyros began to lick her, which only caused more squeaking laughs to erupt. Bella never licked her like this; this was weird and new and fun.

Her tongue was being abducted! Her eyes widened as her nose wrinkled. She did not like this! She growled, leaning forward in an attempt to very lazily drag her paw across Viola’s face to get her tongue back!

She had originally been skeptical of the idea of pups sparring, but the young goddess kept in mind that she was new to this sometimes-brutal culture. Perhaps it was normal, expected even, for children to learn how to fight while their milk teeth were still their only ammunition.
To her surprise - and relief - the "fight" was less a battle and more of a play session - it warmed her heart rather than filled her with uncertainty. A genuine smile filtered across her muzzle as two-toned eyes watched the patchy youth "spar" with the blue-black whelp from the Saints.
It was difficult, at the end, for her to determine who won, but she had been applying style points over the course of the exchange. The nose bite was just enough to get Kyros the win in cuteness.
She normally would not have spared the feelings of adult fighters, but these were children, small children at that. It didn't feel right to squash such new and fragile confidences.

Kyros of Avon is this round's winner,she announced, poised in a regal sit upon the high-elevation perch she had chosen for herself to oversee the fights.
