AW, Amaranth wandering around for clues!

The animosity of the world grew.

The lake was alive, and it called to Amaranth in a way that no water source ever had before. She'd even dared, at one point, to put her tongue to the burning liquid, and it spread a haze across her mind that looked similar to the darkened waves. The smoggy sky. It caused her to grow instantly nauseous, and she vowed to herself to stay away from it from that moment forward.

It was more than abnormal.

And it had caused her dreams to become feverish and urgent.

"Avoid the water, but follow the pull."

Amaranth trailed with a safe distance between herself and the cursed shore, trailing along the forested edge of the Respite as night fell. She was looking for something, she just did not know what it was. Not yet. But she hoped the deepening midnight would give her some insight. She would avoid the water, but she would scour the lands of the Respite for the prize that had been described to her in her dreams.

The pieces that would sew this world back together ... for it seemed that this world, too, was falling apart. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she realized the cruel reality of her many lives. They were all cursed somehow, in one way or another. This Ultimate Demise was rather poorly timed, too — she had really grown comfortable in this timeline.

She ... wanted this to be her home.

Forever.

The boy stared out from his stone den, indigo children danced along the night that lay ahead, he felt a pull towards the darkness that he didn't normally feel. A sense that he should venture outwards propelled him forward on paws that lifted his light body. He shook himself out, all hairs standing on end in the static of the shadows that circled him, shadows that chased him from his current position in the mountain, shadows that screamed at him to run...

So he ran.

Glitch kept his head down as fawn paws pushed him forward, paws that kept him moving to scientists knew where, his tail was low and his ears were flat, but through all this the boy kept a song in his heart. One that would escape his mouth as he kept running from those shadows that seemed to continue to follow. He kept going down, down, down, down to the forests of the mountaintop.

So grow, libido, throw
Dominoes of indiscretions down
Falling all around, in cycles, in circles
Constantly consuming
Conquer and devour...

His voice rising and falling with the gentle notes of songs he'd heard from the radios of the scientists. His voice a cresendo of beauty as he closed his eyes and kept going...

Then, he smelled her, the mother of all mothers... Amaranth...

Ears pricked upwards and he skidded to a halt as he lifted a dark button to the night sky to try and scent her out. Once he'd pinpointed her direction he raced through the tree's rather carelessly, pushing through brush and bushes as he tried to find her. Once he had he ran towards the woman, her bright coat of sunlight a breath of fresh air in this terror of darkness...

Ama!!! He shouted as he neared, his paws carrying him to her side and stopping a foot away, his eyes dancing darkly in the night as he waved a blue tail high above his back. He was so happuy to see her, he hadn't seen her in so long it felt like lifetimes... And Glitch knew what lifetimes felt like... They were not long...

RE: synchronized - Fleetwood - 4/20/2025

People were leaving, among them the priestesses' eldest. As for Fleetwood, she just got back. She doesn't want to leave again. This is home. And yet everyone talks about prophetic dreams and the land changing...

Well, she's going to believe that when she sees it.

The song gets her attention. She's been on patrol for a time, and if there's someone around...

...No, that's an Elysium member. One she doesn't talk to much. And Amaranth, too. What was the other one's name? She should know it, shouldn't she? Ugh, there are too many people in Elysium.

"Glad to see you two and not some loner," she jokes half-heartedly. With people leaving, it's strange to feel like things are ending. What had Dimitri said? That he wasn't willing to risk his children? What could possibly have him worked up like that?

Oh well. Not her place to ask. Just her place to generally know how to keep Elysium safe.

giving OOC permission to know Fleetwood's name.

Rune Discovery : 「 Partial failure; clue unlocked for increased chance of success in the next thread this character posts. 」

The moon's pale glow struggled to pierce through the fog that held Fate's Respite within its grasp. What was once a paradise for lost souls was now seemingly a prison, perhaps even a tomb; it was enough to ward off at least a handful of its denizens already, fearing the poisoned lake at its epicenter.

The words imparted to you by the mysterious Dream Visitor ring in your mind as an endless echo, an insistent whisper pulling you forward, forward...

Perhaps it was a result of your overworked mind, but you suddenly feel as if it's a struggle to focus on the task at hand. Whatever trail you thought you were following has gone cold; the whispers fading back into the sound of the wind.

Yet, surprisingly, a new voice rings loud and clear.

Krosir, krosir... lire dre wermdr fier dre sun krudal drrial kone...

You try to focus on the meaning behind the words. As before, you're startled to find that you can understand this foreign tongue.

Closer, closer... where the warmth of the sun spreads through stone...

In your mind's eye, you see a place in the Respite that looks familiar to you - and as the voice fades, the vision remains.

Go...

After a few moments, the High Augur realized she was not alone beneath the starlight.

First came the familiar, strange-pitched voice of Glitch — the young Ghoul. The wraith would turn her head, her labyrinthine eyes glittering with welcome as she watched him approach. Amaranth's paces would slow, her wavering golden frame turning to greet the smaller wolf that carried that familiar, burning scent.

Somehow, still, it smelled better than the cursed lake.

Glitch, my little Ghoul, she would croon, smiling softly toward him.

And before long, another familiar figure. The stalwart, Fleetwood, she would add in greeting, turning her smiling face and dipping her muzzle in a practiced, formal gesture. The High Augur went to open her mouth to inquire more from her packmates, however, she was interrupted by the influx of foreign words — words drilling directly into her mind. Amaranth would wince, shrinking down a bit as the words boomed loudly, echoing through her head in that familiar, dreamy voice.

But soon ... she understood the gibberish ...

Her vision wavered, her mind visualizing a familiar place. Where was that? The sunning rocks? She did not know for sure, but it felt familiar ... and as quickly as the vision and voice were present, they were gone. And there was nothing but the sound of silence and the distant rumble of the angry waterfall. Amaranth shook her head, blinking as she turned her gaze up toward her packmates ... there was inquiry there ... bewilderment brewing behind her eyes.

Did they hear that? Did they see that?

Amaranth's eyes glittered as she looked upon him and he felt his soul rise just a little as he bashfully bent his head to her welcome, biting his lip with a smile and a low wag of his tail, his ears were flattened against his head as he felt his body wriggle with excitement in her prescence. He came closer and pressed up against her side in greeting before a voice came from nearby and the boy pulled away from Ama and turned to face another.

It was a packmate he hadn't met before but they seemed friendly enough so Glitch woofed a welcome greeting to her and closed his eyes with his widening smile. Glitch wriggled his nose at the acidic smell radiating off the lake but before he could ask any questions a voice rang loud through his head and he dropped to the ground, his paws flying to his ears to cover the appendages in hiding from the strange words.

Suddenly he understood those words... Suddenly an image appeared in his mind and he perked up, his stomach still firmly pressed to the ground as he lifted his chest and head to look from Amaranth to the wolf Ama had called Fleetwood. His tail curled tightly around his blue haunches, the staticky pattern on his spine standing on end and indigo children flickered from one wolf to the other.

Go... Echoed in his head, a reverberation through his skull as he blinked in confusion of what exactly just happened. Though his lips didn't create the words his eyes did...

What the fuck just happened...?
