Tiberii — set just outside of Frostfang Vale.

Millie was always energetic, annoyingly enough. Somehow able to sleep without trouble for as long as she pleased, and was equally able to remain awake without fatigue. An odd creature.

Still, it took long enough to herd Tiberii out before sunrise. She insisted so—Millie only had such vivid dreams while night was still falling. So, surely, such discoveries could only be made while the sun still slumbered beyond the horizon. Surely.

The woman continued to usher the bull out towards the fields. What was it you found again, dear? She chirped, turning her head towards Tiberii, a rock...? The fawn-furred wolfdog sauntered over the ground with her nose held close to the ground.

Perhaps it was curiosity, but there was, no doubt, a fair mix of the fear of missing out. Millie was happy to remain unaffiliated with the back, but Tiberii was just about her only friend in Mythris. She wanted to be more involved.

Tiberii Shakti-Vaès
It was early. So early. And the bull hadn’t been sleeping well — between her own internal self-torment and the cataclysmic state of their world, she’d found it difficult to settle. It was hard to rest when your skin was practically crawling. Whatever this feeling was (anxiety?), it left her with the harsh feeling of dread … like her heart was constantly in her throat and she was unable to swallow.

But Millie remained … calm. Optimistic, even.
It was a welcomed contrast to the flurry of her own feelings. It was almost … stabilizing.

She trailed along beside the smaller woman, her citrine gaze peering over as the other seemed to float along. Tiberii would follow, easily falling into place beside the other.

After a few moments of silence, the other would look up, and Tiberii would flick her ears forward, remaining attentive. “A rock…?” Tiberii laughed lightly, offering a smile. A fancy rock, she’d offer in playful correction. Called it a ‘Rune,’ she’d continue, offering the vocabulary that both the Dream Visitor and Solulfur had tried to explain to her multiple times.

But it was still just a fancy rock.

Apparently they ‘ave some kinda ancient magic in ‘em. If ‘Past Tiberii’ could have heard herself talking like this … she’d never believe that she’d resort to believing in magic and voodoo-hoodoo. Tiberii would turn her gaze, looking back toward the field that blossomed with early-morning warmth. Ya have magic where yer from? The softness of inquiry touched her deem voice, the words spilling melodically form her lips.

Millie hummed quietly, sauntering over the ground with a small wave of her tail. I like to imagine so, she mused, y'know... fate. Karma. Soulmates, even. She chuckled quietly. But in truth, I'd never found any sort of concrete truth in my own home, and I don't think I ever would've. She picked up the pace before slowing to a halt by the riverbed.

She didn't know, in truth, why she cared so much about finding one of these 'runes'. If magic wasn't real in her last universe, perhaps she could only hope that it was in this one—that, or, she had FOMO. It was hard to tell which.

At least, even if there were no magic rock, nor a fancy rock, nor any runes, Millie would be going out for once—stretching her legs once again, exploring the boundless realm she'd found herself in. And, she'd be doing it with Tiberii!

The wolfdog turned with a happy grin, sweeping her tail over the stones idly. Show me, she murmured, I want to see what these 'runes' look like.

Rune Discovery : 「 Failure 」

The Alpines seem quiet this morning. So quiet, that you cannot seem to place anything as out of place. Yes. Everything seems to be in order. There is no pull, no heaviness in the air. There is only the silence of your paw steps and your gentle conversation with your friend. There is no twinkle in the snow. There are no drums in your ears. There are no exploding runes — not today. Not here.

Perhaps, and only perhaps, if you were listening closely, you might hear a whisper on the breeze. A soft, but discouraging, murmur.

An hire, it would whisper. Not here.

The words would echo softly against your ears, fleeting.

And then you are left alone once more. Left only with your thoughts and your longing.

Fate. Karma. Soulmates.

Tiberii would huff lightly with almost empty laughter. It wasn't with any sort of distaste toward the other, no, but perhaps with an empty sense of humor related to the dissatisfaction of her own views. Up until the start of this plauge, Tiberii didn't believe in any sort of otherworldly shenanigan. She'd been told about certain things, of course — reincarnation, other lives, gods ... but none of it had ever fallen into line with her own life.

She'd made her own fate.
She'd been her own karma (unfortunately).

Her parents, the only two in her life she could have defined as 'soulmates', had split up and subsequently ...

Well, she didn't want to think about that. She'd rather focus on finding these stupid magic rocks — that was more concrete. It made more sense, even though it made absolutely no sense at all. Ugh, her mind spiraled, those bright eyes darkening slightly as she over-pondered on dark thoughts. Maybe Euphemia had been right to forsake this magic. Maybe all of this was for nothing.

Maybe she was misleading them all.

The bull's gaze would turn back toward Millie, realizing she'd left them both in a strange silence for perhaps a little too long. Sorry, she'd ruff, shaking her head. Distracted m'self, she'd continue, offering a lighter sort of smile. Let's see, Tiberii would hum, turning her gaze down toward a pile of Very-Normal-Looking-Rocks. She'd focus on them, squinting her gaze and wondering where that blue light was. That was what had led her to it last time.

But there was nothing.

She'd hum, sighing after a moment before turning her vision back toward the smaller wolf. Wish I could show ya, but tha last one I found exploded. Tiberii would pull her lips into what was half-grimace, half-awkward smile. How was she supposed to explain this more to Millie, anyway? 'Yes, we're looking for shiny blue rocks, but watch out, when you find 'em, they might explode in your face!'

We gotta look fer a blue shine, she'd decide on instead, pawing with growing agitation at the snowy rocks below her.

The Pillar seemed abstracted. Millie was tempted to strike up a conversation, yet, simultaneously, it felt wrong to interrupt her reverie. It wasn't long before Tiberii cut her own thoughts of, anyway; the wolfdog offered a small smile and shook her head in reassurance.

Millie stood in tandem, searching along with the larger woman—alas, it was as though the winds spoke of their failure. She took a step back and shook her head. I don't see anything out of the ordinary at all. There was no disappointment in her tone, only observation.

'Wish I could show ya, but tha last one I found exploded.' Millie's ears pinned back against her nape. It what?1 She exclaimed. Ojej, maybe this is a little more dangerous than I'd expected. She chuckled softly.

The fawn-colored maiden stepped over the scattered stone, her sights set instead for the river down south. Shall we continue? She turned to look at the bull, her head tilted. She knew that Tiberii had duties she owed her pack. Yet... the voyage was simply so tempting. You're more than welcome to go back, of course, she continued. Her head turned once again towards the southward horizon. I think I'll still keep going, either way. She mused, partially to herself.

Millie commented that nothing here seemed out of the ordinary, and the bull couldn't help but frown a bit. Her large head would dip in agreement, a puff of air pressing from between tightened lips. I swear they're somewhere, she'd explain, a twinge of anxiety rising in her throat. It was just so hard to explain — exploding glowing blue rocks?!

Was she actually going crazy?

Thankfully, the softness of Millie's expression soothed her, drawing her back to reality and settling the acid in her chest. The thrum of her heart quieted for a moment.

Don't worry, the bull continued, loosening the tight muscles of her cheeks as she offered a more encouraging grin. I'll shield ya if anythin' else decides ta ... blow up ... At the obscurity of the words, Tiberii could not help but offer a genuine laugh, the chuckle echoing through the gentle silence of the morning.

Millie would choose a direction, angling her smaller frame toward the waters more South. Alri' then! Lead tha way. Tiberii would take a step forward, rising up on the other side of Millie as they both looked toward the horizon. It was early in the day, and adventure seemed to call to both of them.
