Monarchs and milkweed - Pangur - 9/29/2025 Some time has passed since Pangur was lucky enough to simply stroll into this new realm, she'd thought at first perhaps her imagination had gotten out of hand, or that she'd gone too long without sleep when the forest she walked from had vanished upon a glance behind, leaving only endless prairie to stretch on in its place.
And then, a man had surfaced from the depths where none had gone in, and she could speculate no longer. The gods held greater influence here, she was sure of it; but what she was not sure of was her purpose in being here, any of their purpose in being here. Perhaps it was just to live, and nothing held any great importance, no divine command; at least not until the gods decided to be a little more clear about what they wanted. She didn't bother lingering on the thought for long, as her belly ached for food and her heart for adventure. Pangur leaned into a cat-like stretch, much befitting of her namesake, and skips her way over to the riverside where the sturdy figure of Andvari crouched nearby. Her voice breaks through the afternoon air. Do you think that if you dive in the water you will end up back where you came from? She asks with a curious grin, crouching her taller figure down next to him and staring into the river's current, dipping a paw into the cool liquid for a moment before her expression softens to something more serious. I cannot say for certain that it is a one way trip, but if you have those you miss, I would do what I can to help you reunite with them. She didn't have any immediate ideas, but hoped her words could be of some comfort, even if she could do nothing, she would try. She sat up, straightened her posture, offering a grin. Until then, I hope you are content to hunt with me. RE: Monarchs and milkweed - Andvari - 10/2/2025 Andvari's dark eyes focused on the river. A gentle, babbling song as crystal clear water raced over a pebbled riverbed. A marvelous sight. Were it not for the reflection of light atop the river's surface, Andvari could be tricked into believe the fish that travelled along the current were simply floating in a ditch. I think water this clear would show us a gateway if it held one. There is no strain to his voice. If i were to try I believe it would be best to try again in the dark depths of that lake.It had been where he surfaced in this new world. Far be it from him to know the whims of the gods. The stout man returned the woman's smile. I've no doubt that the village can fair without me. We wouldn't be prospering if the absence of one man would bring it to its knees, yes? He trusted his kin and comrades to fair well without him. The free-spirited nature of the children may need to be tempered with one less set of eyes on the wood, but the year's whelps would be stalking the pine wood any day now. What man wouldn't be content with you? There is a tease to his voice but he is earnest. Andvari found his companion to be a kind and capable woman. If you've a name in mind, I'd be sure to give him a talking to. RE: Monarchs and milkweed - Pangur - 10/13/2025 She is an attuned listener, offering a slow nod while he spoke. So his village would be fine. It was a comfort to Pangur's worrying heart, she knew others did not often carry so few blood ties as she; and the obligations that might have come along with them would likely be a source of torment for any sucked into this realm alone. She was glad he would feel no such stress, though, she would understand if he had simply held back.
She doesn't speculate any further means of return, she'd need to be better fed before she entertained the idea of outwitting the gods. Meanwhile, his compliment stirs a laugh from her, a feeling of warmth alight in her chest that she hadn't felt in a while. Aha! You flatter me. I'm glad you are well. She slips her paw from the frigid stream and sits up tall. Admittedly, I have not had many- well, any issues with those I've met on my journies, not really. None that weren't solved quickly at least, a shared meal is the way to most people's better sides, I have found, but maybe I have just been lucky. I have had few conversations go so badly. She squints her eyes as she grins, then lets that amusement roll into a exasperated tone, tinged with a guilty sort of mischief. But I have had my fair share of trouble with mountain cats and bears. Forgive a girl for wanting some glory here and there- and a soft fur to sleep on. They reeeally don't like me. It is tougher when the meal they want to eat is you, and they cannot speak your language. She looks down to him, studying the details of his face, the markings of his muzzle and the scars that sliced through fur and chiseled features. I am afraid I don't have any plans quite yet, or a direction on where to go. I am as new to this land as you are, though before that, I travelled between villages and aided their people with trade and work of my own, but I... do not know if that is still possible. Her paws gently flex against the soft dirt of the riverbank, pawpads muddied by the silt. |
