Apollo had been put to bed, and after the day's activities, Bragi would've normally been quick to join him. But not tonight. There was a... rumor she wanted to test.
She followed the river until the sound of revelry had been nearly drowned out by the trickling waves. She waited until the moon was directly overhead, perfectly poised behind her ears as she gazed into the still, slow moving stream. She watched her reflection, gently rippling.
She stared into those unfamiliar amber eyes, and the dark navy blue of the fur surrounding them. She counted the pale speckles, like stars, in a constellation across her face. She saw the muzzle twist, in disappointment or quiet resignation or both, at the face staring back at her.
She sighed, deeply, when nothing changed.
She chided herself for even thinking it would.

The moon was high, and his coat was sodden, soaked from jumping into the island's springs. To promote good health, his father had said, but to him it was all the same, a game that gave him that quick burst of endorphins.
It was on one such occasion as he pulled his body from the cold depths that he spied the shadow sneaking away, ushering itself upstream. Asgeir would have been stupid to turn down the opportunity to follow, his curiosity fully engaged in finding out what hus sister was doing.
He kept his distance, far behind sverke's female counterpart as he followed her scent verus the sight of her fleeting midnight hues. He'd likely have lost her already if he was going off of sight alone. Even under the light of the moon, her body was like a ghost in the shadows.
The young prince finally came upon her when she stood over the slow moving stream. It wasn't in his nature to look past this opportunity of cruelty, starting slow and low in his approach at first before unleashing his potential as he rammed into the back of the girl in hopes to send her plummeting into the water.

She didn't catch the low rumble of a rapidly approaching freight train until it was too late. She was exhausted, overstimulated, and sick with self-loathing.
And then she was in the water.
Her head broke the surface to the sight of a sun-seared beast, silhouetted by the moon. The glacial stream chilled her to the bone, in spite of the warmth of the day, and there was dark fur in her eyes as she scrambled for the shore. Waterlogged and shivering, her lips pulled back in a snarl.
