where's a tauntaun when you need it? - Laurent - 1/6/2026 skill: dumbass arrival take 2 The world struggled. Something, somewhere, seemed to pulse with an energy that seemed to come from somewhere else. And it was from this pulsing that the Ansbjørn took a gasping, heaving breath full of ice. Well, what a way to wake up. It was better at least than his brother, Foxglove who had managed to land on a feeding trough in a significantly graceful way, but Laurent managed to wake from a heaving pile of ice laden branches of the mighty wisteria that had taken over the Rest. He panicked, scrambling and desperately scraping to free himself. Perhaps the way that the branches had been layered by nature herself. The man let out a strangled yelp as his head finally broke the top of the pile, frantically heaving himself upwards to free the bulk of his body as soon as possible. The pressure had made it so difficult to take a full breath, his lungs burned with the cold to a point where it hurt even. The Enok Tundra was not one that was considered mild, but where the family had managed to find roost was at least tamer than this! Laurent hoisted himself out of the deadfall, straight into the harshest weather he'd ever endured. RE: where's a tauntaun when you need it? - Mintaka. - 1/6/2026
It was cold and Mintaka despised it!
She did not know, of course, why that was - only that the cold kicked her heartrate up higher and made her feel antsy and concerned, which just so happened to be two things that she hated feeling. A brave and noble warrior such as herself had nothing to fear, especially not from some weather! But boy, was this weather particularly cold. It was pretty weird, she thought, because when she woke up it wasn't nearly this bad. Now it was all snow and ice and Mintaka felt it all the way down to her core. She liked this little island and the people on it, so she hadn't left just yet, but she was beginning to wonder if maybe it would be a good idea to try and find somewhere just a bit less... frozen. But she wouldn't, because that would be cowardly, and Mintaka was not cowardly! So she stayed, busying herself by jogging around the island in an attempt to keep from freezing to death. It was better this way - easier to manage. And maybe, secretly, she was hoping for something new and exciting to happen, just to really take her mind off of everything. And it did! Because out of a nearby entanglement of wisteria popped a wolf made of fire itself. Mintaka's eyes widened at the sight, almost in disbelief. Had he just woken here? Why was he breathing like that? Did the branches hurt him somehow? "Hi, there!" she greeted, flouncing up to the stranger without hesitation. The cold caused her body to quake, but she stood confidently as she regarded the boy, tail swishing like a banner behind her. "Are you okay?" Because it was her solemn duty to protect and care for those in need, so she had to check before anything else. |
