Achlys was growing faster now, transitioning from something equivalent to that of a bumbling toddler into a young kid who would soon turn into an awkward teen. His body was beginning to transform into what it would be in its finality, his legs never seemed to stop growing; becoming long and gangly making him disproportionality tall. His baby fat was leaving him, angles sharpening and becoming more lean and bony. Of course he could only feel these changes, which made them that much more difficult to navigate.
And on top of that ─
The lake was 'poison' apparently, and he 'should stay out of it' not according to Sreda, who was fully supportive of his wishes to visit his friends in the beyond and even wanted to meet them too; but not everyone agreed with the narrative. Regardless, they were not leaving. Some had, like Dimitri ─ and Achlys missed them he thought.
But for now he was busy, a prize clamped between his jaws he had collected from some poor fox that had ventured into the lake's purple waters and later died of the effects. And Achlys had stripped the creatures skull from its body and was returning to the den to stash it away.
❝ Mama Sreda, look ❞ he called, words muffled through his grip as he would bump his nose (and prize) into Sreda getting closer than he thought to show it to her before plopping down. He was well focused on his prize, until he a flickering light of scent in his minds eye caught his attention in the back of their cave as his focus became suddenly fixated.
Slowly the boy rose, silently drifting away deep into the beckoning shadows.
