The pair shared a silent meal together, not that he was entirely complaining. He was used to company that was silent, once knowing a woman that took ages to speak. A time that he was certain would never come. Gekirin had come to peace with knowing that there might be others out there like her, but did his best to not get attached. So when this pretty face made a laugh his way through a bark, it did not shatter him the way that she might have thought. Rather it just pushed him further. That's okay, I like a challenge. Gekirin barked a chuckle back, his eyes attempting to meet hers in a fiery show of challenge. I'll get it some day, somehow. I'm sure of it. A small smile appeared once again, his attention then turning back to the carcass as he eyed another piece of meat.

I like a challenge, Gekirin assured her.

As if the uncontrolled evidence of Midge's once-shattered self was only a wide strait to swim across or a tall mountain to climb. An obstacle to be overcome for the pride of saying I did that. She did not know how to feel about it; it made the problem seem so small when it took up so much space within her never ceasing frustrations, and it made her seem small amongst it.

She clicked her teeth together after another throaty chuckle, nodding her head to agree with him.

I'll get it someday, and she looked forward to that day.

There was a mixture of emotions swirling around inside of him, each more turbulent then the last. It was hard to go through this again, the mere act of interacting with someone that could not speak. But if his past experience had told him anything, was that there was always the possibility that it could change.

Misora had worked up the courage to try, and one day she just spoke. Broken up little words at first, but eventually led to more and more. Then she became more distant out of seemingly no where, and he was left partially frustrated and broken. Before he knew it, Gekirin was out on his own seeking something else that could fill the void she left behind.

What sounded like a hearty chuckle escaped her lips, right behind a click of her teeth. She was a very expressive woman if nothing else. A quality that he had come to admire and appreciate in the chocolate woman. Gekirin smiled back at her, that weird fluttering beginning in his chest again though he opted to cast it aside.

No sense in getting attached just yet. After all, nothing in this world was forever. Nothing in this world was guaranteed. The forgotten prince took to eating more of their shared meal once more, tossing the once complicated emotions to the wind as he learned to just appreciate what they shared in this very moment.
