Values

Borne from the merging of Hildibrandr and The Saints; Jakten is a primal, combat-focused empire with notable Norse mysticism and beliefs in the Old Gods. Here, all skillsets are honored, but fighting, spirituality, and bloodshed remain at the core. Only the boldest creatures might survive life here.

Climbing The Hierarchy

In Character (IC) progression is the only way to gain power/status within Jakten
This is done to encourage bonds between pack members via threading together! It is also encouraged for any individuals to hold the status of a Tier 3 rank before attempting to hold a Tier 2 or 1 rank.

Breeding

Only those that have gained the Einvalds' acceptance can breed with the intent to give birth, as the goal is to ensure strong linages within the pack. If a pair of wolves wishes to breed, or if a single wolf wishes to gain the favor of the imperial family, they must meet with the Einvald and request their permission. Once given, the permission to breed is given for life unless otherwise agreed upon. However, at any time, the Einvald can revoke this privilege as they see fit.

Ranks Explained

TIER 1 - THE CROWN
Einvald —  The sovereign ruler/s of the empire, male and/or female. Typically a mated pair will share this Title, but in special circumstances the Throne may be shared by familial and/or platonic relations that share close trust.
Jotunn —  Second in Command, male and/or female
Hilmir —  The Crowned Heir/s of the empire; Traditionally only one is named, but on occasion there may be more! Always a child (or children) of the Einvald
Vakker— Other children of the Einvald

TIER 2 - THE SCEPTER
Jarl— Members of Council, highly respected by the Einvald
Thane— Royal Advisor/s; closely trusted individual/s of the Einvald
Hersir— The Warchief, regarded as the ‘’general’’ of the Sword Tier, only outranked by the Einvald themselves

TIER 3 - THE NOBILITY
Freyr — Lords, male or masculine-presenting - often have blood ties to the Imperial family
Freyja —  Ladies, female or feminine-presenting - often have blood ties to the Imperial family
Volva — Witches, Seers, Occultists, etc. as well as Doctors/Medics/Healers

TIER 4 - THE SWORD
Merkismathr | Veteran Vikings, elderly-aged wolves seasoned in the art of combat and are essentially retired
Huskarl | Special Forces; the Einvalds' most trusted Vikings that operate in secret on the Einvalds' behalf with no political consequence; Externally known as "fill-in" individuals to carry out duties where they are needed.
Valkyrie | Highest Viking Rank; Seasoned and exceptional in combat arts, pretty much "top of class"
Radningar | Mid-tier Viking Rank; experienced and reliable in combat
Marauder | Low-tier Viking Rank; fresh out of training and have yet to prove themselves
Vanir | Vikings in training, individuals 6+ months old

TIER 5 - THE SHIELD
Sendifari| Diplomats, may be chosen to take messages to and from Jakten and their allies
Skygna | Spies, infiltrators of potential enemies and groups of interest.
Oskoreia | Hunters and Trackers, they are the main bodies that feed the empire and keep track of prey activities
Vordr | Rangers, scouts, the individuals who survey the surrounding land and any activity within

TIER 6- THE COMMONFOLK
Heimr — Subordinates with no chosen specialty
Thrall— Dedicated servants of the empire who have willingly chosen their path, must be treated well and with respect
Bjar— Children not of royal blood

TIER 7 - THE LOWLY
Pets - Slaves that are favored by those in power, most likened to concubines
Taka — Captives and Slaves; have no standing within the empire and are subject to the whims of those above them

Laws of the Empire

—  The Einvalds’ word is absolute law, to disobey them is to risk loss of limb, or even death

—  Pets are the sole responsibility of their owner/s and are expected to obey every command; As such, Pet Owners have the ability to disallow all others except The Einvald from using and/or abusing their Pet/s

—  Taka, unless otherwise claimed, are at the discretion and whim of everyone above them.

—  Respect your fellow clansmen, to disrespect or turn on your comrades is to dishonor the Gods.

—  Respect Nature; To take more than what you need or destroy needlessly is to dishonor the Gods.

—  All Allies are to be treated as Kin, and are welcome within the borders without punishment at any time.

—  Trespassers are to be captured and brought before the Einvald for judgement, where they will decide the fate of the offending party - usually enslavement or, in more severe cases, put to The Hunt.

Events and Celebrations

The Hunt:

— “The Hunt” is almost always an impromptu Event - A trespassing wolf, or any other perceived threat, is told to run for the borders as “Prey” - every member of the empire that is able (or 6+ months of age) will then commence in hunting them down, with either the intent to throw them into The Pit for enslavement, or, when particularly bloodthirsty - outright kill them. Kills will always result in the consumption of the Prey.
