their arrival here changed very little, at least for the young and impressionable Neferseba; the little Goddess continued with her lessons, her prayers, and all the rest she had done in the place before. Akashingo. Ta Senet. and then, after that and still before here, a land to be inherited by one of her brothers! ah, she missed them; life had become a little more quiet, and much more empty, without them. who could she secretly play warriors with, now? it was not her favorite game, no—she much preferred dress up, to their great vexation—but she did miss their frustration when she did not let them win!
Satiset was a lover, though, not a fighter—and a bleeding heart, to boot. she very nearly always let them win. it may be a natural talent, but not one she had any interest in pursuing… not that it would be proper! and Neferseba was a woman of propriety!
they had just finished greeting Ra, and the hours were quick to turn after her linguistic instruction—now, it was time to change her furs and be groomed! it would be Henuttawy who ensured this was all prepared for her, this day, and the young Satiset turned to find her with a bright smile. she loved the woman greatly—the young princess did not know what a day looked like without her there! beyond her daughter and her husband, no doubt her own mother prayed hardest of all for the safe arrival of the handmaiden; Satiset, too!
no doubt the wise woman would feel her eyes searching for her, never truly very far from her. Neferseba found her tail already waving slowly behind her, quite tired from the rigorous lessons in proper enunciation and recitation in other tongues whilst walking in a gait that was made to look like she was floating! her mother made it all look so effortless, but as Satiset grew it was not so easy. soon, she would be long and gangly-legged, the Sesh had told her—she must still move with grace and poise…
she should show her favored handmaiden her hard work, she thought—though by now her flanks trembled a little with the effort!
