A man of myth and legend and possibly the least problematic Crane out there, September welcomes Faustus Crane to the stage. Stoic but resilient, Faustus has been through the wringer since he arrived in Vivarium. Beginning with the disappearance of his eldest daughter, Soleil, and then the murder of his wife, Adeline, Faustus has handled these difficulties and losses in stride.

Since losing his wife, he has hunted for the beast with Annelise, a fellow healer stuck to his side like glue. Will he ever find the beast who did it...? In the aftermath of the fires, Faustus Crane has once more exemplified his courage through the daring rescue of Arzhel and Annelise from the raging waters of a river and the devastating fire that threatened to consume them all.

Despite the setbacks, Faustus has not slowed down in his growing list of achievements. He is creating the Armata Brutala, a semi-militaristic pack, with his sister, Minerva, his eldest son, Mercutio2, and his wayward band of various Cranes.
