They say monsters lurk in the shadows on the brim. That's part of why Mir chose it. It's approximately close to Elysium, about a day and a half's hike, and yet no one comes here often. Monsters in the shadows, demons in the water. Mir will believe it when she sees it, but for now, the only dangerous thing here is her.
Under the thin light of the moon, she can make out various flora growing in bunches along the edge of the sand. It must be hardy grass, she thinks, and perhaps little else. Maybe certain digestive systems would react poorly to it, but the taste is too obvious to make it useful for much. She'd rather look to the more fertile soil up the way, where she could certainly grow some hemlock. The flower is pretty, and decisively dangerous. She'll have to be careful while planting it.
No, this place will do nicely. She's all alone here, or so she thinks, until she hears the sound of feet on the sand. The smell of another person-- a smell she does not know. For a moment she wonders if the legends are true. Wouldn't that be an interesting discovery? But she dismisses it and walks towards the sound. Fear is not useful. She must keep track of people close to where she's staking out her claim.
Perhaps, eventually, she'll become one of the rumors on the Brim. How delightful would that be?
