How long had he wandered in his lonesome?
With no sense of direction and no goals, Mateo felt like he was floating in some strange limbo. Loneliness was usually something he could tolerate on his good and bad days, but he didn’t know how long he could make excuses for his indecision. Wandering as a wayfaring medic – seeking to take care of others while trying to care for himself was taking a toll on his weakening frame.
He’d been walking for some time now – a sniffle stifling his ability to track his way back to base….Mateo had come down with a cold of all things. The man scoffed.
Leaning against the base of a tall alpine tree, his frame slumped as he’d sat himself against the tree, achy muscles making him feel groggy. Perhaps he’d rest here for a while…
