The sun was shining. The birds were singing.
The air smelled sweet — like jasmine and rose.
Sreda wrinkled her nose, exhaling sharply. How horrible. Why did the air smell that way? This was highly unusual. It was mid-winter, there shouldn't have been enough flowers blossoming at this time of year to elicit such a wave of smell. And the birds should have been far more south. And the sun, why was it so ... warm and inviting?
Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
It made her skin crawl.
Sreda made her way out of Elysium and into the heart of the highlands, searching up and down for the source of the horrible smell. And it did not take her long to find the source of the anomaly. Roses. But they were unlike any roses that Sreda had ever seen before — delicate and carved out of what appeared to be ice. Her eyes would narrow, just slightly, as her tufted ears flicked toward the strange flora.
Unusual.
Ever so carefully, she lifted a paw, angling a delicate claw outward as she moved her way closer to touch it.
