It was...almost pleasant-sounding, and might've been more-so if Sovereign wasn't on guard at every new encounter with unfamiliar faces...
She exhaled with a mild mix of irritation and annoyance as she turned her steps for the beach facing closest to the mainland shores.
After however many minutes it took to see the figure on the shore, Sovereign stopped some distance off, and tilted her head to the side as she looked at him...
The wind hadn't shifted enough to tell her much from her current place, but she braved closer, eyes pinned on him warily as she drew closer-
THEN, the wind shifted enough to bring his scent to her - and plenty of others with it!
One of them in primary, being her mother's.
The Shieldmaiden stopped dead in her tracks, a look of both shock and confusion writ across her face.
She couldn't bother to try and hide the emotions on her face, but she could try to be strategic about this...right?
"How do you know my mother?" She demanded of the scarred man with boyish charm, more softness in her volume than she meant to have, given the rumble in her voice; Filled with caution, perhaps hope, maybe even the tiniest smidge of anger...
The smolder in her eyes was a silent threat - that he had better start talking, right fuckin' NOW.
