A peal of laughter and a jovial voice roused her from her daydreams. She threw a glance over her shoulder to spot the cotton-grass man, and having missed his salutation completely, she recognized only the mirth in his features and amicable wave of his tail. "Oh, sorry!" She responded, swirling as she raised herself to her feet and turned to face him, an unashamed grin on her face. "I was a little lost, there," She explained. She glanced to the skies, where defined pillars of shadow still roamed down the beach beneath meandering clouds. She drew in a breath as if to speak again, but when she felt the temperature of the air shift with a draft of wind, she shifted her gaze to an approaching veil of darkness and rain.
"Another one!" She was delighted, and pranced on the spot as the cloudburst slid toward them. She bounded sideways, deerlike. "Come on- don't let it catch you!" She invited, before she began to bound down the beach, whirling every now and again so she could keep an eye on the creeping shadow- and tease the man with a girlish grin, so he might join her in her game.
