elk charm sang. she sent out the songs of rebirth and death into the singing hills; she prepared to leave. kuy'aa had offered her a place among the seal hunters, and while she had not yet accepted, it was appealing. but it was equally appealing to remain here alone, with only samo for company. already she had begun the slow laying-in of fruits and edible grasses; she had dried the meat of hares and fish. summer was fiercely bright. elk charm prepared for winter nonetheless.
a carryskin at her hip, restless sharadoii roamed the swelling slopes for medicinal herbs and those which could be consumed; she searched to record the tracks of hares and deer, and she found a beaten path through the flowers which she followed at once.
perhaps some northern strength had come to her; or that gaulish.
a woman. sleeping. elk charm recognized her at once for the woman who had returned with chakliux. she wished to dislike the slumbering wolf, but those words shared with kuy'aa had soothed many things inside her soul.
not all.
elk charm was not forceful, but the woman slept near a needed patch of chamomile. she did not try to hide her sounds as she dug the honey-scented plants from their place, placing them in the skin for transport back to the wetus.
they kept their distance from one another, she and samo, the seal hunters from sharadoii. it was what she desired, or so it felt.
