She could see the glaze of tears he would hold back, refusing to let them fall. Still withholding such a vulnerable moment from her, she could not blame him. They had not seen one another in such a long time, the air once more filled with heaviness… a sadness that enveloped the two souls. She would draw herself closer toward him, pushing her maw into his neck. Seeking comfort selfishly in a man who was just as broken as her, who had suffered the same loss…
Flashes of faces would cross her mind, ones where she was starting to muddle the details - would she eventually forget what they looked like? The thought pulled at her heartstrings, no… they deserved someone to remember them. She would not forget. Never.
His voice snapped her back into reality, her maw untangling from his neck and pulling back to hear him better. The woman would frown, his words of self-doubt echoing in her mind. She had felt this way at one point, “He would not have left you with something you could not handle, Jaxxon.” She replied, drawing her silver-blues up to catch along his ambered gaze, “If you do not want this responsibility, you can simply give it up.” A simplified answer, but was he willing to?
“You could come live with me.” She offered, “However, I know you are not one to take the easy way out of things. Your soul gave you his legacy to continue.” She now pulled herself from his grasp, turning her gaze toward the north. The direction of home, “There is no doubt you are capable of great things.”
