snow lay still. the only presence was the sound of singing wind, brushing the frigid leaves of the white forest. the driest leaf snapped from its branch, dancing with the gentle snow before landing atop a mound.

and the mound twitched, and shivered, and it jumped and! — shiverwood's peace violently ruined by an eruption of snow. out broke through a woman almost as pale as the forest that surrounded her, yanking herself from her white grave.
flaxen eyes wildly search for what is not there. there were no wolves at eve's side, and the pain in her neck nothing more than a memory. she pants as she settles down on her haunches, searching her surroundings for answers.

she had died. there was no other explanation. though she awoke from the snow that buried her, there were no trees encircling the girl, no light seeping through the thicket to shine down on her. was heaven truly this plane? or did atop the clouds lie an endless winter forest?

hello? she calls out, rubbing her neck against her shoulder. eve can't be convinced that there isn't still a set of teeth clamping down on her throat.
