At his flanks, carving through the field of flowers old and new, others join him in the exploration of such an odd phenomenon. Other healers such as himself, he surmised as his tired eyes watched them search for a heartbeat. Or perhaps strangers caught up in wanderlust.

For now, he kept to himself, practiced hands and teeth careful as they extract his findings to tuck them away into his pouch. Tedious to avoid any toxic flora, eager to collect the rest. He meanders further, further—

Until he finds it. A plant that tickles the corners of his mind, bringing the whispers of recognition. A beautiful flower with toothed leaves dipped in inky blue. Strangely, it has no smell. But he remembers having come across something similar, perhaps, during his time spent in the under-city of his home.

Confounded, he lifted his head from being buried within the field of blooms to examine it. It's...different than what he remembered. And for a moment, as his eyes narrow with scrutiny, he cannot for the life of him name it.

And then, a whisper caressed the backs of his mind. A voice unknown, unfamiliar, a little startling. With furrowed brows, he whispered to himself, parroting the name.

Chelone Glabra. He muttered it again, and again, while a sensation of eureka settled into his bones. A sense that he'd found something profound, important, though for what reason he couldn't possibly know.

But he remembers now, if only vaguely. He'd collected specimens similar when there'd been an outbreak of sickness in the undercity. He remembers steeping in it tea, curating tinctures to soothe those who'd fallen ill.

He is not a religious man. Studious, yes, but pious? He believed in science, in medicine. But this...this wasn't either. Not really. Not as his eyes cast upward to watch those strange clouds ink away, as if they'd never been there in the first place. Not as that whisper faded from his mind, and certainly not as this flower seemed to pulse with something...

Strange. This is all so strange.
