She didn’t know what she was doing here. She only knew that the clouds; they called to her; so Euphemia continued her northern journey. Across the mountains, to the glittering sea.

She walked until she found another standing at the water’s edge, the midnight blue of their fur matching the deep azure of the ocean just beyond the lapping waves. The silver maiden walked right up abreast of the stranger and looked out, seeming to ponder similar questions.

In truth, this was Euphemia’s first time seeing a beach. It reminded her a lot of the lake that sat low in the bosom of the vale, how the waters seemed to undulate in time with some unseen metronome. Here, the power that emanated from the water was palpable. She felt herself pulled by it. Her inner waters swayed in and out, in time with the lunar forces that tugged so consistently on the external. It was calming.

Euphemia said nothing and gazed out silently at the expanse that seemed to roll out before them both, without end.
