a quick glance at the girl told ronan all he needed to know. she was nervous, and not at all confident in herself as a huntress. just like eliza was. ronan slowed his pace until he was beside her, shoulder barely brushing against hers. “don’t worry. you’ll do just fine.” he offered a kind smile, something to hopefully calm her nerves. “and we'll try again if anything happens. sounds good?”

another glance made him pause. he turned to look down at the girl before leaning forward to nudge her shoulder. “you're too stiff. relax a bit. you’ll scare ‘em off before we even get the chance to get close. relax a bit, everything’ll be just fine.” his voice remained gentle, kinder than usual. he had no idea why he was hellbent on helping this girl succeed, but he was. she had a life ahead of her, places to explore, people to meet. and he'd be damned if he didn't try.

and just like he hoped, tracks were quickly found within the brush. a sigh of relief left his lips as he lowered his head to sniff at the trail. “all right. let’s go. stay low and stay close.”
