She had become illusive. Of course, she kept up her duties; Apollo primarily took most of her time, but Lilja had mostly become shut off, hidden away in her den, and she was even avoiding eye contact with her reflection in the stream that ran by.
The Finnish girl just couldn't look at herself, ashamed not of the life growing within her, but of the act she committed and who it was with.
All that just to say that she couldn't stop pining over his company. She had done well to avoid him thus far, but something within her cried out for the red-haired man. Her nest felt wrong without him, and yet she wanted the guy nowhere near her either.
Lilja found herself sitting by the stream, looking down at the fish that pushed against the current. It was momentary, but her eyes caught sight of herself and a wave of desperation washed over her. She looked like a hog, hunched over this ghastly stomach that seemed to have blown in the last couple of weeks. It was obvious, the new generation would be here soon, and here she was, keeping it a secret from the world.
She couldn't stop them, just as she couldn't stop the tears that were rolling down her cheeks.
