Shēnléi leans on him more than he’ll ever admit out loud. He trusts Yao’s judgment even when he hates hearing it. There’s a kind of comfort in their arguments, like an old rhythm they’ve kept for years and never stopped. He loves the man deeply, but he’d never say it outloud or admit it to his face. He just keeps him close and prays the gods won’t take him too soon.
