With alacrity, the silken empress tracked across the new lands. Her husband was here; that much was for certain. If he were here, then there was no other place for her to be than by his side. The time that existed between her learning of Shenlei and when she began to seek out his familiar scent (of the greenest, most tender tea leaves) was minimal – almost minuscule.
If there was anything that steadied and grounded her in this effervescent existence, it was the Emperor. He was stalwart where others were insolvent; direct and firm, whereas others danced and performed for understanding. If the Crystal Dragon had chosen for them to both materialize in this strange, new realm, then it had been predestined.
She was his wife, and she would be at his side in every death and lifetime.
The Empress did not know if Touying followed in pursuit. She spared no further thought for him, almost assuming that he moved behind her as would a shadow. If he wished to help her find Shenlei, she would very much appreciate it – but she was convicted, and she would seek the Son of Heaven out no matter what came at her, hell nor high water.
Clearly, there was much to do for the security of the Dynasty. For this goal amongst many, she would be bound in his service, forevermore.
Come what may.
