Eventually, he did turn to address her, after some stern-sounding words from Iglux, and Euphemia was rather surprised (and relieved) to find that the Ca’an spoke the common tongue fairly well. She gritted her molars and smiled awkwardly, as if this were an embarrassing experience for her too
