It hadn't taken much for Vidarr to chuff for Reid, swinging his head back towards the summons from Aurelia.
Come along, Kærr our Pillars are calling. He'd been pretty sure if they didn't let Reid out of the den he'd tunnel his way through to the core of Mythris. Maybe that was the place where the Dream Visitor lived, where they had been enclosed. Perhaps that was how you looped back through to another life. Who could tell what the world was or would be, and Vidarr wanted to live in this life. With his boy, with Svajonė. So Vidarr had taken Reid out to do a bit of foraging and exploring.
It wouldn't have surprised him too much if Svajone did follow them. Through the winter she'd certainly lost any sort of patience, and she tired of the den too. But he thought she'd healed fairly well, all things considered. So she'd be able to catch up to them, or be hot on their heels. He made sure to clear enough of a path for Reid to not have to stumble over. Sometimes it was worthwhile to be so huge.
Today we vote for who you want to be a Pillar.Vidarr explained. It was obvious they were not the firsts to arrive, and his gleaming eyes ran across all those gathered. .As they arrived, Vidarr dropped his head to murmur softly in his son's ear.
Let's listen. He offered a brief flash of a smile to those who caught his eye as he straightened back up, his tail curled around Reid to help keep him warm.
Vidarr could not see himself toppling any of the Pillars out of any sort of malice or dislike. But he saw the tension that ran through every cell of Tiberii's body, and he considered the wolverine confetti. Briefly he looked to Aurelia and then Nottin before his gaze landed on Reid again. Vidarr drew in a breath and then cleared his throat once it seemed the majority had gone quiet.
My friends - my family, I want to say how proud I am of each of our Pillars for their gargantuan efforts of guiding Dawnbreak during this assault from Mythris. It has not been in vain, it has not gone unnoticed. Each of you has carried more than expected, and each has risen to the occasion. Truly, we are fortunate despite the world around us.
Vidarr's eyes combed the crowd again, and he remembered the way that Euphemia had felt, he remembered her concerns, he remembered her hurt.
Some of you never knew Duskguard as it was before, and had not known our Cheiften or our Druid. Tiberius and Olive left behind quite a large task, and I am certain that they are extremely proud of the efforts of each of their children. They would take joy in the strength of Dawnbreak, and the bonds that we have forged together. I am certain that any of you so devoted as to offer yourselves would excel as our Pillars. He saw that fire in them and he saw the grit. That determination would serve them all.
Today, I would like not to offer myself for Pillar - but for Support. As Second, where needed, to assist. It might have been a bit unorthodox, but at the same time, this whole system certainly wasn't common practice.
Vidarr gave a bow of his head, to signal that he was done speaking, and he let out a breath, directing the airstream at Reid's right ear, a little sparkle in his eye when he looked down at the boy.
