Anemone knew they couldn't make that clean killing bite they normally could for land prey. Seals had a thick layer of blubber whether they were healthy or frail, and she knew her teeth weren't long enough, or her jaw strong enough to penetrate it. Instead, she darted in to tear a chunk of flesh from the animal, right near its neck. It was a risky move, and she darted away before she could do as much damage as she wanted, as it roared and swung back around to try and bite her.
It was bleeding now, though, already trickling down its grey, sandy body.
The rich taste of its blood tingled on her tongue. It had been too long since she had the pleasure of sampling ocean prey like this. They would relish in the opportunity, especially with a hunting partner.
