That did make sense out of his demeanor, didn't it? An odd man of some odder fanciful lineage whose importance varied by context. In this setting, she was still deciding how important he was. She gave a little swish of her tail, "My condolences about your momma, really," she told him. "Prince is just a title though, ain't it? I reckon you're a bit more than that."
Vivian trotted ahead, reorienting herself and reassessing the scent trails, and laughed. "Gorgeous? Ain't you a bold one," she said, and then used her head to gesture onward. "Let's see how ya' keep up, big guy."
And without offering more than a playful look over her shoulder, she kicked off with an easy pace before breaking into a canter. She suspected he'd keep up if not only because she established that she wanted him to. "I'm thinkin' it's a doe," she tilted her nose up and quite suddenly cut right, following a sightless fork in this retraced trail. "Smells young. Alone. I reckon she won't be a real fight, bless her heart."
Vivian slowed her stride then, snow flurrying up underfoot, and she turned around all swift-legged to look at him. "If I take point, I can run her your way," her breath misted on the air. "You think ya' can get her down yourself?"
