It wasn’t until the end of his song, when the waiting for attendance began, that Euphemia began to more vividly remember the woman named Agrippina. Of course, she had thought of their meetings more than once, as the woman was the reason she knew the leader of Northfall’s name was Wardruna, and Euphemia had spent much of her time on the road reciting what she wished to say to this Wardruna.
But the scent of Northfall brought the memories back with such vivid color that she could swear Agrippina was beside them, or at least somewhere close! It made her heart flutter to think there was a small chance of seeing her again. Friends were so few and far between, even in Dawnbreak, and she could not afford to squander relationships when presented with them.
However, it was not Agrippina who greeted her and Adonis, but someone who could be the aforementioned leader of Northfall herself. Immediately, Euphemia’s heart rate was set aflutter. All of her prepared words flew right out the window – and the silver woman could only manage a single look at the stalwart storyteller before her response became warranted.
Euphemia drew whatever sort of calmness she could from the man at her side, pushed her shoulder blades back, and unleashed a smile.
Well met! Are you... Wardruna? She lowered her gaze humbly, before beckoning to herself, and then to her left.
I am Euphemia Shakti-Vaes of Dawnbreak, and this one is Adonis.
She would have probably just used the pronoun he, but this was Adonis’s preferential way of speaking about himself, and she wished to honor that. It was so lovely, all the ways he challenged her preconceived notions of what a life could be, and then made her better for it.
Because of his existence, she was more accepting and curious; more able to shoulder great responsibility. More monogamous, too.
– and what a way to celebrate such a thing, to wed the couple who invented monogamy!
For the most part, Dawnbreak is whole, and I hope that Northfall has had similar good fortune. We have come bearing an invitation to a wedding – for my sister, Dalmatia, actually!Once she had begun to speak, the words flowed.
She might be a Pillar of Wisdom, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t be herself.
It will be a most wonderful celebration, she said earnestly, considering the northernwoman before her.
It will take place in Frostfang Vale, mountains just to the east of your own. Are you familiar?
