For a moment, all she heard was the rhythmic thrumming of the waves. The water, ice cold, would lap at her toes. She was saturated in brine, woven with the delicate lace of seaweed, and her fur was massively and completely disheveled.

She was certain she looked as useless as she felt.

The dual-toned teen would cough, expelling saline from her depths as she gently stirred. Stiffness ached from the bellies of her muscles, and she grunted as she started pulling herself upward, bracing her eyes against the painful brightness of the sun. Her head ached.

As the pounding of her heart steadied ... the scrawling words on her skin would dissipate.

"What are you doing?"

She hadn't heard him approach, between the roar of the ocean and the ringing in her ears. Rune's head lifted, dueling green eyes tracing over the smaller, masculine figure. What was she doing? Obviously, she was ... she was ... Rune's brows would furrow as she digested the stranger's question. What was she doing? She couldn't ...

I ... can't remember, she told him finally, ears suddenly flattening atop her head. In fact, the last thing she remembered was leaving Skjǫldrheim to visit the South. But there was a horrifyingly large span of vacancy in her memory that was clouded by a black haze. Where ... is this? Where are we? She finished pulling herself upward, her fur already crusted as the ocean water rolled off her skin.
