Nikolai was having a slightly less than stellar time.

Being a child, he was already pretty easy to overlook - but being a short child had rendered him practically invisible. No matter how high he leapt or how loud he barked, everyone else seemed to simply move him out of the way, and he'd missed most of the good food as a result.

Stupid! When he hit his growth spurt, everyone would be sorry!

Until then, the boy seethed. He was currently set to stomping about the guest dens, a thunderous expression clouding his features as his stomach growled. Hopefully there'd be something left for him after the stampede had dissipated...

Something bright crimson caught in the corner of his eye. It was Hemlock, laser-focused on digging a hole, and Stellan watched from close by. Nik changed course and stomped toward his brothers. Did they have something good? Were they digging up a secret cache of meat stored away from the festivities? Or...

He squinted.

Nothing.

There was nothing in the hole.

Picking up a rock in his mouth and visibly frustrated, Nikolai spun in a tight circle and launched it straight for Hemlock's forehead - but it fell just short, instead landing squarely in the hole he'd been digging.

Dangit.
