His sister did not strike, though he had been waiting for it. A battle he knew in the end Elli would not win, not against the two of them, yet a fight he would have hated to see victory in. Teeth had never been meant for the flesh of his sister beyond tempered training and dominant scraps. He knew that if a fight were to happen here, now, it would be a bloody one.

Fire still simmered deep in the raging gaze of his sister, yet it was tempered, even as she retorted, meant to strike back at Ezra but it did little. After all, what did living in the meadow accomplish? Nothing, savor her own death. In an attempt to protect the red meadow wolves, she was left to heal on her own. No visits, no aid, no apothecary. To Ezra, if anyone had cared for Elli in that place, she wouldn't have been left to die of her fucking wounds.

No. Her muttered through simmering snarl. Nothing is ever enough. And there it lay, the cruelty of what he had become. He wanted more. He always wanted more. Did she not think herself deserving other than the fate she had been given?

After parents lost, sister slain and now, murdered brother. Whatever peace he had felt he might find had only been in death, where he might rejoin them all. But she was here, now and again, wasn't she? And so was Amunet and so was the seed of their future. Perhaps death could not have him yet.

Ezra swallowed down the knot in his throat which had been forming but it did not reveal the twist in his gut which left him cramping with anxiety. His sister wouldn't fight him, not when she knew their brother's body lay there in silent wait. Eventually, she would move to crouch down and adjust a half of Vitus over her back, with the help of Journey who would adjust him to a fitting position. Ezra came next as expectant eyes turned on him and he sided close to the sister which only moments ago was at his throat. They were nothing less than who they had always been.

The body shifted into place upon him too now, he lifted up when Elli directed. Journey would pace at their side to help adjust whenever a chance of the seer sliding off occurred and Ezra expected Amunet might take the rear in part as scout.

Had Ezra expected anything less, for Amunet to be introduced to his family via death? Death had surrounded the Stormborn Family for as long as he could remember and the stretch of it still lingered now, heavy upon his back as the miles and miles stretched behind them.

Maybe… maybe he will come back, like you?
