Haruto was not ordinarily one to accuse another of theft especially without evidence. Yet he found himself convinced that the strange creature he had encountered near the temple several days prior was responsible for the disappearance of his braided cord.
He had searched
everywhere. His quarters, the gardens, even the path he had taken that morning. Nothing. The cord was something he rarely removed and while he supposed it was entirely possible that it had simply come loose, the timing of its disappearance was difficult to ignore.
The Nue had been an unsettling creature. Though Haruto remained uncertain whether its intentions had been malicious or mischievous, it was not difficult to imagine such a being making off with a small personal belonging.
Still — imagination was hardly proof.
A cool autumn breeze stirred the fallen leaves beneath his paws as he made his way through the Dynasty's grounds, his expression troubled. Every so often he glanced down at the place where the familiar cord should have rested, finding its absence uncomfortable.
He had finally decided that assistance in retrieving it might be necessary, perhaps someone more capable of defending themselves than he.
